Title: Biblical scholar's date for rapture: May 21, 2011
Post by: Devious Viper on January 10, 2011, 06:20:51 PM
Harold Camping lets out a hearty chuckle when he considers the people who believe the world will end in 2012.

"That date has not one stitch of biblical authority," Camping says from the Oakland office where he runs Family Radio, an evangelical station that reaches listeners around the world. "It's like a fairy tale."

The real date for the end of times, he says, is in 2011...

Well I have many issues with this and I will put my counter arguments here. (I have not provided much evidence or references on my part due to laziness, so if they are requested I will provide them. I have pretty much made statements without much backing or any links to find it yourself so I would get an F on this assignment.)

I have to agree with what the bible says, that no one knows the day or the hour. Maybe if people keep on guessing long enough one of them will be right.

We are on a separate calendar from when the bible was written. So making calculations from the bible to guess the end date is going to be problematic.

Then there is the issue, what bible did he use? What language was it in? Was it the original manuscript? Otherwise calculations are not going to be as accurate as they can be.
(seeing as he is giving a specific date, I think accuracy is important here)

My next issue is that he has been wrong before, so his credibility is to be questioned.

I also wonder why all these people (Christians) decided to gather in one place with open bibles. Where does the bible say this is even necessary in the last days?

This man seems to be making money on this, seeing as he is selling books and clothing with his dates on them. Money and religion don't seem to mix well into a pure recipe.

Then my last issue is that no where in the bible is there a requisite of all these believers to be in one place. There is also no where in the bible that says they are going to be raptured off the earth.
I believe this is discussed on another thread.

So my final conclusion is that I would not give this man too much credit.

Good points by bhambrice and matthew. Besides that, Gods clock dosnt work the same as ours. Our time keeping is based on the earth and sun. I dare say God's may be on a much larger scale.

Gods clock maybe not working as ours, but none the less, why do you think very high and powerful circles care so deeply about dates and time? We may say whatever we want but universal "time", meaning the periods needed for certain planets and planetoids to come in certain places, is very important. No coincidence DV wrote what he wrote, and check the news lately, UFOs hovering above Temple Mount in Jerusalem, then baby found in the same temple... riots in Egypt, now Algeria, all after mass deaths of animals all over the world, disasters like tsunamis and floods and fires and earthquakes.... you can call me whatever you like, but if u add all together.... voila. Its actually pretty obvious, be it staged or not, all leads to one conclusion.

Exactly.  If one has no abilities to dig deep or store a lot, not much else you can do but sit and "enjoy" the ride.

Actually there is nothing sure for 2012, it might occur between now and 2100 --- but the sooner the better, I dont want to be too old to attend the party  <:smurf
