Title: I would like a logical explanation if you can, please.
Post by: Daemonin on December 06, 2008, 06:28:24 PM
Two times I have, for at the longest two seconds, had these symptoms all at once:

A struggle for breath, slightly blurred vision (that probably just came up due to the panic of not breathing), and a slight ringing in both my ears.  In more detail, I felt my throat closing up and had a visual in my mind of a kind of horizontal yellow-white line going through my head (probably explains the blurred vision because I was more in my mind than out of it.  Or I could be out of my mind *<:) ).  You know that feeling you get when something with electricity is turned on, like a computer, tv, or how a cell-phone gives of a certain amount of energy before an incoming text or call?  It was like that except far stronger and aimed at my head.

This has happened to me twice within 24 hours and I am not sure exactly what it is.  Do I need to see a doctor or what?  It has been suggested on 3 counts that it was an astral attack of sorts, but I am not sure.

If it happens again I'm going directly to health services, but until then it could just be a weird reaction to exam stress.  You think?  But if the people at health services don't know I'll definitely ask  :-)

Hi Dae!!

You have been working pretty hard and for long hours lately, having to do catch up work for the missing pages of your paper, you have exams, study, study for the exams etc. This would mean that you are under a fair ammount of stress and also that you would not be getting as much sleep as usual. So your nervous system is probably a little under the weather at the moment. What you have described seems similar to the symtoms of a bit of mild sleep apnea, where, without realising it you will stop breathing for a short time. This creates an imbalance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your blood and would easily explain the blurred vision and ringing sound in your ears etc. It would also explain the sensation of your throat "closing" as your body, recognising a lower oxygen/higher carbon dioxide level in your blood, suddenly opens your lungs to let a rush of air into your sysem. This could be happening while sitting at your desk at home studying, on the couch having a coffee or even while you are going to sleep etc. Anyway the general "feeling" that I get is that this is just a form of mild sleep apnea, indicating that your nervous sysyem is under a bit of stress at the moment.

I would not worry about it too much just yet, just try and get as much sleep as you can, a good diet, and plenty of b group vitamins, maybe a vitamiin b supplement high in b12 if possible. If you are still experiencing similar episoses after your exams have finished, when you should have caught up on your sleep and be feeling more relaxed, then I would consult a doctor/medical professional at that stage. In my opinion this should not really be that much to worry about at the moment.

Thanks!  Sounds good to me.  I'm glad it isn't anything major. :-)
