It picks on my family.
« on: November 26, 2010, 12:40:56 PM »
I'll begin by saying, there is some sort of spirit in my apartment.  Nobody feels comfortable in the hallway, including the animals, people have seen apparitions, heard things, etc.  Every time we speak of it in the kitchen something happens. It could have been coincidence, but I remember the one day 2 light bulbs had exploded in a row after a conversation about how we wanted it gone. For the longest time, I wasn't bothered by it. Nothing totally strange had happened to me besides the whole light bulbs thing. However, it had been mentally attacking my mother. It always disturbed her, and completely freaked her out. For a while, things had gone back to normal for her... Things were quiet, and we weren't bothered by it. Recently, I have been diagnosed with myoclonic epilepsy and prescribed valproic acid, which is an anti seizure/depressant. I've never been a depressed person, but being put on these meds, my emotions have been ridiculous. I've been on the meds for a while now, and am doing better, but I recently started having more experiences. As of right now my theory is that it goes after the people in a lower state of mind. I'm not sure. Anyways, I'm not too sure what to do about it right now. I'm hoping it will settle down again soon. If anyone has any advice on how to at least learn to ignore it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, we definitely need more info on this: for example, how old are you, is this your first house, who lived there before.... just to start with

One other main detail we should know it how recently you were diagnosed & exaclty how long you have been on the meds. I know from personal experience that new anti-seizure meds can completely mess with you for months before the levels are settled & the brain chemistry returns to normal.

Such a reaction is exceedingly rare. However, many anti-seizure medications are also used as anti-psychotics, and can have some pretty strange effects on the patient's mind.

Well, then I'm exceedingly happy to be the one among rare to experience that first hand. Forgoten the name of the medicine, but among many cute little side effects were: psychosis, paranoia, insomnia.... and it was just a medicine for a tooth infection  :-D

One must remember that all medicine can be poison & all poison can be medicine. No medication is 100% safe.

 :focus:

Red, we need these details to help. The sooner we get them the sooner we can help you. On a side note, please, keep your meds in check. Get levels taken as often as needed & make note of any side affects you experience, any changes to your normal functioning can be a serious issue no matter how slight the change.

This whole discussion helps to remind me yet again why I do not take medication voluntarily.

I was diagnosed in August, so I've only been on the meds for about 3 months.  We've lived in the apartment for about 3 years now. We believe that it may possibly have something to do with the canal, just around the block. It used to bring people to the city, and apparently many people arrived sick & some didn't make it.  I personally believe that's why a man shows himself to my mother & stepfather.

In that case, the times don't match, so medication as the cause seems to be out.

Medication may not be causing the previous experiences but since your mind is still adjusting to the medication it may be possible that you are currently more sensative/open to experiences, you're brain is somewhat like that of a young child right now, still molding itself still learning what reality is. Keep a journal of any & all experiences anyone has. Note the date & time as well as any other relevant information (was there a fight before the experience, were you talking about the spirit) from the time of the experience. It could also be possible that you could be causing some of these incidents, unintentionally of course, through some sort of telekinesis which would go back to the brain chemistry not being quite right. Look into the history of the property, not just the building itself since spirits can remain from previous buildings on the same spot. If you can, ask the previous tenants or the super of your building if anything was ever experienced before you lived there. I haven't read anything saying the spirit frightens you so maybe removing the spirit isn't needed, maybe just a little reminding that it's YOUR place now & the behavior isn't acceptable. DON"T go issueing altimatums or commands since we don't know the true nature of the spirit yet & that could make things worse. Do a little research, see what/who it could be & let us know.

That's not completely true, Navy docs never checked to make sure we take all our meds.... Although recommended, it isn't completely necessary, the Dental Doc gave me vicodin, and I never needed it... High pain tolerance. So They went bad and I flushed them down the toilet.
