My concern is sure there is big hype about oh no the worlds ending (if its meant to be it will with or without us) but has everyone forgotten it's just a calender.

Given its the end of the calender but they found their numbers somehow and the whole tun bakatun thing was made for a reason. Now the question is why did they calculate this so?

the Roman calender is based off of seasons how many days till the earth goes around the sun and so forth. Thats why we still use it its purpose is in full scope it makes sense to everyone and its accurate to a degree (save leap years).

But, the Mayans made this "Great Cycle" OK we lost the purpose? We don't know the reason. It doesn't make sense. and why is once in 5 grand something years accurate and what for.

The answer doesn't have to be the end of the earth i have a feeling something much different is in store. The Mayans meaning is not in our scope and i think the answer lies in what is not present lets wait and see shall we?

The thing is... It's not. Their predictions were based on religious beliefs, just like religions nowadays predict the apocalypse. I believe neither, but to me, the gods coming back to our world to end it is as credible as anything else.

The Mayans' meaning is not in our scope, huh? I might not be reading this right, but you seem to be saying that since it was the Mayans who said it and they're gone now, it doesn't apply to us. Yet, you realize that the Mayan calendar did go all the way to 2012, right? We are in it's scope and in the scope of their predictions. Right?
