Hey there Im new....
I was wondering if this was the right forum to post this; I did check the little people forum but it didnt seem very crowded.
I just bought a comic book from a French artist; Civiello (methinks hes French, could be italian though... :( ) entitled "The Korrigans"
I got the second issue so im a bit lost in the story, it seems quite boring (something like an endless epic lethany ) BUT the drawings caught my attention.
I searched the web for the word korrigans and in wikipedia I got this definition

"In Breton folklore, a Korrigan is a female fairy or dwarf-like spirit. Korr means dwarf and ig is a diminutive and the suffix an is an hypocoristic.

Korrigans have beautiful hair and red flashing eyes. They are sometimes described as important princesses or druidesses who were opposed to Christianity when the Apostles came to convert Brittany. They hate priests, churches, and especially the Virgin Mary. They can predict the future, change shape, and move at lightning speed. Like sirens and mermaids, they sing and comb their long hair, and they haunt fountains and wells. They have the power of making men fall in love with them, but they then kill the ones who do. In many popular tales, they are eager to deceive the imprudent mortals who see them dancing or looking after a treasure, and fond of stealing human children, substituting them with changelings. On the night of 31st October (All Souls' Night), they are said to be lurking near dolmens, waiting for victims."

But then in your forums, and on most images I find around the web they are drawn something like this

Why is that??

btw heres the comic

Prettyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Welcome Maca!!

As for your question, the answer is really quite simple.  Artistic license.  Afterall look at all the different interpretations of images to other things like giants or werewolves just to name a few.

Welcome to the forums, Maca!

It's just up to the artist what they look like.  People usually have a clear image in their head about certain things that what they should look like.
we are all much more complicated than our names
