Title: Eternity

Endless discussion about the origin of Good and Evil, the proof or denial for god's existence, ...., just makes me remind you the very importance of death and suffering for the evolution of everyone soul and the collective race.

How do you imagine a world where no none die, no one suffers, everyone can eat plenty of food ....

Technologically possible but practically boring.  This is the 'Brave New World' from A. Huxley.

Personally, I cant even imagine I will live until 80 years old in the same old carcass ... at this time, I will have the ability to recycle my organs and live endlessly ...

So true, who wants to live forever? After a few milennia, it would become boring. Even the residents of the city of Diaspar in Arthur C. Clarke's "The City and the Stars" had become jaded after a billion years of something similar to what Loki describes. They even had every conceivable form of entertainment too, and lifespans were limited to only one thousand years at that!

Okay, so say humans can use technology to get to the point where we can live forever in some form or another. I can certainly see the point where the risk of living an endless, & eternally boring life would make some shudder in horror.

But who says it has to be boring? If we ever get to that point in technology, could we also not be far enough advanced to ravel faster than light to other galaxies? Explore whole knew worlds? Meet all the other sentient races?

Personally, I would love to spend an eternity just exploring, learning new things, going on epic adventures with my friends. What would you do with your eternity?

With out death, life becomes meaningless.

It would really suck if our bodies kept aging forever. I'd hate to spend eternity with my back hunched over so far all I could look at would be a certain part of my female anatomy dragging on the ground. :-P

Lol, all interesting points. But we ALREADY have plastic surgery to fix all that Leshy, surely we would have some way of staying young for ever. Maybe even have our brains placed in the perfect cybernetic body that's made to look exactly as we want it to.

Wow, Reggie, who'd a thunk you'd come up with that insanely awesome? *<:)

I do actually like that idea. I'd love to have my mind downloaded into an electronic brain and placed inside a cybernetic body. Not only would I be immortal, but I'd be pretty damn invincible too.
There aren't any downsides as far as I can see.

One theory is that you would lose you soul. Since only you mind would be transferred, & your body die, the soul would die with the body.

So the only argument against it is primitive superstition?
Wow. LAME!

When will those medieval savages we call the "religious rightwing" understand that the soul is nothing more than the abstract, emotional aspect of our mind?
The mind is not a single thing. It is an abstraction used to represent the union of logical thought, instinct, and abstract/emotional thought. The soul is but one component of this.
