Title: Rune Readings
Post by: Muerte on June 13, 2009, 03:41:29 PM
Here is something new for our community to play with.

http://www.metta.org.uk/runes/ (http://www.metta.org.uk/runes/)

Roll the runes, see what your future may hold.  Oh, and yes, I am doing a study on Runes, and runic lore.

Ah, I see your learning Futhark there!  Your just studying them, or are you learning about any older runes as well?
I read runes myself.
Please, do tell me more about your studies.

So far I have copied and studied Elder and Younger Futhark, and as I am doing it on a less then reliable computer, well the going is tough.  I am going to try and find a book or two on it at the Library, but I doubt they will be carring anything useful.  I am also doing Mideval Runes, but I don't want to strech myself too thin.  First learn the basic runes, then concentrate on learning the differing ones.  Do you know of any that are older than Elder Futhark?  ( I'm also going to start cataloging Pagan Symbols and their meanings, if anyone has a good web site please post em )

Well...  There is the North Germanic (old Norse) runes, a bit older then the Futhark.  Were used a lot in Iceland and in Scandinavia, the Futhark was used as well of course, but the Norse are older.  I use those.
These rune alphabets are quite similar, there's only a slight difference from the letters.  The Futhark also has runes for a small letter caption, but the Norse does not.

So what you think of runes compared to tarot cards?
