Title: West Middlands - UK

UFO experts today admitted they are investigating reports of strange lights seen in the sky above the West Midlands.

Several people have reported strange lights in the sky during the past few weeks and a BBC cameraman captured them on film.

They have been filmed by Tom Hines, aged 24, who works on the BBC soap Doctors.

He could not believe what he saw while trying to find a possible location for a private short film at Hanbury in Worcestershire.

At about 8.30pm on July 22 he spotted two white lights in the sky, which then seemed to disappear.

They reappeared bright and moving slightly before vanishing for a second time.

Tom put down his camera but then three lights suddenly flashed up to form a diamond-like cluster.

He started filming again and the three lights disappeared a few moments later.

Although usually sceptical about unidentified flying objects, Tom believes what he captured on the seven-minute film cannot be easily explained. "It was seriously like something out of Close Encounters," he said.

"The only way I can describe it was like somebody turning on spotlights in the sky.

"It was quite honestly, and in every meaning of the phrase, out of this world."

Contact International UFO Research investigates about three or four sightings each year in the West Midlands and a spokesman said hotspots included the Malvern Hills and Clee Hills.
