there's a lot on the internet, depending on if you're looking at; origins, worshippers, etc...

well, there are a few good books on that...

start with the greco roman afterlife, that's where the present ideas of heaven and hell came from.

Zoroastrianism (Persian empire second temple period) is where your concepts of angels come from and dualism of God and anti God. Demons are very common in all middle eastern traditions but for Judaism later Christianity and Islam, Babylon is the main Source. Then the greco - Roman influence later.


This was a melting pot of cultural influences so many ideas created it.

That's why i rather like the story of Abraham and the theory he was the son of an idol maker in sumeria...i can relate to that situation and it makes more sense "the devil" originally being a tester of faith rather than the destroyer of humanity.

in that situation he'd be a welcome intruder in a person of faith's life rather than a bane.

so, yeah...reading and coming up with your own ideas is definitly the best advice to your question, whitefang.
