hello there, i know there have been posts in the past by people who want to learnt to summon legions of undead and bring forth "servants" from the underworld. and prance around in dark red robes screaming im a necromancer fear me mortals! however im not that guy i dont want to practice the art i just want to understand any and all things related to the dead, undead, recently dead, necromantic, and so on and so forth. any books or websites or whatever the crap else would be much appreciated. (i probably spelled that wrong.)

i do not mean to offend but i would like to state that i think necromancy is something that should be destroyed entirely if it even exist at all. we are mortal, it is not our place to raise the dead and such. and if i where dead and got raised i would be really pissed off. i could elaborate on my argument but i am to lazy. i just want to say it is stupid and all you people in pursuit of such powers need to find other hobbies. 

if you do not mind me asking, why gain knowledge you do not intend to use, if its out there, let it remain unknown, hopefully forgotten forever. 

Eventually websites regarding to necromancy are extremely rare, and I've read about the history of necromancy in many point of views in some books I'll have to search for later. So far I know it's one of the most ancient forms of magic and was utilized for the purpose of obtaining useful information. The word literally derives from the greek meaning corpse (nekros) and  divination (manteia). A large part of primitive shamanism, from which all forms of magic derive, was about communicating with the spirits of dead ancestors and somehow it's related to voodoo due to it's attitude toward the dead.

I will not comment on  the morality of such a practice, it is a person's decision if he/she wishes to delve into such arts. Those with the purest of intentions can fall, however, those with the strongest of wills and the greatest of desires will be the least likely to stray from their paths.

There is no line dividing magic from "white" or "darK" there is only the will and intention.

My trust, you shall not abuse, or your to me it belongs.

 Who are you to say that just cause we are mortals we don't have rights to fark around with the dead by raising them. If mortals don't have the right to do some thing then they wouldn't be able to do it in the first place. I am not a necromancer nor do I like it but I will not be on the side that is for destruction of knowledge.

I have to agree with Raz & Tybalt. True magick has no color, like nature, it is all in the intention of the practitioner. While I don't agree with necromancy, I also don't agree with destroying knowledge simply because it might be used for negative purposes.  just as with any knowledge necromancy in the right hands could be useful. Fear of necromancy stems from the very human fear of death.  Zombies, at least traditional Voodun zombies, are not necromantic. Voodun zombies are not dead, they are living humans put into a catatonic death like state after ingesting a natural poison which suppresses heart & respirations to the point that the person appears dead. The fear of becoming a zombie among practitioners is the loss of free will that is believed to occur. The zombie is then used as free labor & is constantly fed the poison in a smaller dose to keep them docile & working. Necromancy as practiced by the ancient greeks didn't literally mean "raising the dead" it simply meant using dead things (human or animal) for purposes of diving the future. Similar practices still continue in tribal Africa in which they use bones as a divination tool by tossing the bones & interpreting the positions they fall in.

I agree. However the poison (tetrodotoxin (TTX)  used in Voodoo, really causes physical damage to the brain and it's irreversible.

hmm......... what is the best way to extract, contain and focus the soul of a dying being? what are the best containers? how would you make them? are their any household alternatives? do zombies have bad breath? do you brush their teeth? are ground rhino horns really aphrodisiacs?  Which is harder to contol, a zombie or a skeleton? would inserting animal parts in the preparation process of the body boost the zombie's  durability, speed, strength... etc?  How do you keep them smelling fresh? Are you a mortician by profession? Is the world really round? Why does love hurt? do babies have a proper conspicuousness? Do cavities get cavities? How much are the MIB paying you? Why do fools fall in love? how many colors in a rain bow? How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood? and if woodchuck could chuck wood, how do you know how much wood should a woodchuck chuckm, that is if it could?
