I picked "other"

I don't really know hat to call them, but I have these "snapshots" in some of my dreams. Almost like a mental equivalent of a Polaroid picture. There is always this single scene, that I can never figure out. It doesn't have any meaning to it, it's literally just a mental picture.

Then I'll be doing my stuff from day to day, & BAM!!! I'll be sitting in a situation where I am looking at the exact same thing that I saw in my dream.

The most recent one of these, was when I IMed someone I knew. So far, I haven't had another "snapshot" yet. I can only have one at a time.

It's also weird, cuz the are never a big deal, they are just a normal aspect of my life, & they never show me anything important either. Just normal, routine stuff.

Thats pretty cool!

Its actually future dreaming.

Curiously I first met my wife in a dream. Met her for the first time physically about two weeks later.

Regina Terra

I thought as much, it kinda pisses me off that it never shows me anything important, but at the same time, I am extremely relieved that it doesn't show me anything.

I'd rather NOT know if one of my relatives are about to die in a car crash or something.

Personally I find that the attention we have in dreaming has slightly different interests to our daily attention. Its the same personality, feel and essence, it just wants to look at different stuff.

You'll probably find that you are having lots and lots of these snapshots when asleep and dreaming.
You wake up and you forget them, thats all.

Thats why using a dream journal can really help. It brings more awareness into our dreaming reality. Then we find we remember more, then remembering that we are lucid etc etc.

Its a whole other life you are having everynight that you could remember if you wanted to.

Regina Terra

Lol, you're right. I need to start a dream journal. :-P

I've experienced "future dreaming". I've dreamed of all of my children during pregnancy. I knew their gender before ultrasounds, knew what they looked like; with one I dreamed his exact birth weight, with another I dreamed him at age 3. The exact scene in my dream came to pass. I've only been able to do this during pregnancy. I wish I could figure out how to do it all of the time.
