Title: Weird, symbolic dream....
Post by: ArcticWolf88 on October 19, 2011, 09:26:41 PM
OK, this is my first post to the witches brew forum and I'm a Wiccan, I can't believe I haven't posted here before. I should intro. myself, my name is ArcticWolf88, many of you may have seen me over in the Den and the Blood Track, but I haven't introduced myself here. I am a Were and I am also a Wiccan, though I'm not a member of any coven...I am 19 years old and live in Anoka, MN...

OK, In the dream, I'm 15 or 16 again and I'm traveling on a railway (which doesn't exist) in the next town over, Coon Rapids...with my mother and grandmother (who has been dead for over 7 years...) and the railway is a massive, sprawling thing that seems to go on forever and seems to be being built as we are traveling at points...There's no talking between me, my mother and grandmother, it's more of a subconscious telepathy and I'm carrying on an mental conversation with my father (who was curiously absent, though his presence was still very much there) in the dream...

It was all about how this rail project was to big, to grandiose and to expensive and that it would never be finished, I was saying how could our little cities take on such an immense project "its not like were Minneapolis, Chicago or anything, who the heck did we think we are..." I said...

Me, my Mom and Grandma are searching for something, and we're searching and searching and can't find it...I kind of flash-forward to when I'm the age I am now and we eventually, thoroughly dejected and hopeless, ealizing what we were looking for would never be found, climb into one of the old workers shacks, which has a 20-foot or so ladder leading up to it. It was a place where people once worked, but everything was rusted and covered in dust and leaves now, we all looked like rejects from some Grapes of Wrath casting or whatever and we kind of collapsed onto the floor of the workshop and stared off into the distance, with the abandoned city (much larger than my city is in real life, mind) and the sunset... The sunset is rather odd in the dream, it is kind of clear and seething at the same time, it has lightning and fast clouds, but a peaceful blue light at the same time. We all start to fall asleep, and I say sarcastically to myself, with a flash of my old spirit "And...this is the part of the movie where we all go like this (pantomimes sleep in my head) and we do precisely that, I fall asleep in my own dream!!!!

I kind of blend into a scene were I'm now even younger than I was before, 12 or 13 and am playing tag or hide and seek with my grandmother, also much younger...were still in the abandoned construction area, below the shack we just fell asleep in, moments before, but I had no idea that this was part of the same dream, until I woke up. I started to feel uneasy, and then panicky, and wanted to climb the ladder to the shack and thought we should pull the ladder up with us, to prevent the negative energy I felt from getting at us, but it washed over us as a gust of wind before I could act or tell my Grandma...and then I woke up....In a cold sweat, with a splitting headache and in terrible pain....

All I can say is, what the heck does it all mean, its far to detailed to not mean SOMETHING....and what was with that Dream within a dream stuff??? Help please...

I can't say anything for the symbolism, but thought it might put you a bit at ease to know the dream within a dream is nothing strange. I've had dreams within dreams, and even died only to start experiencing life through the son in my dream (no son in real life, but apparently one in my dream).

First thing to say about it, is sometimes Dreams will offer us more detail than is necessary for the metaphor it's attempting to represent.
Like a Math problem. Things are in there to trick you, or to make a story out of something that could be solved with numbers.
So, the first step is to pick out the details that are important vs the details that aren't important.
I have a general idea forming, just based on the few things I already know the meaning to...
But instead of sitting here on the Post Reply part, I'm going to leave this message where it's at for now.
I'll post what I've got figured out for you either here or PM in a little while.

EDIT: Okay, so after going through my notes, and going through 5 different websites ( "dream moods", dream dictionaries... don't remember the others ) to compare, I was on the right track before except for a few things that I had originally written down completely wrong.

In general, the whole dream consists of Past life regret and longing, Future life Fear and feeling influenced... What everything tells me, is that you're having anxiety about the Baby and everything that this part of your Life's Journey means.

If you want the breakdown, including the somewhat scary parts, let me know. I'll PM you the entire dream's interpreted details.

I'm pretty sure, it either is impossible or VERY unlikely that a person isn't dreaming.
Though, and don't quote me on this one, I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere before ( even as recently as today maybe ) that certain psychological and physical ailments can create a lack of noteworthy activity, especially regarding dreams...
It's definitely normal to be unable to recall your dreams.
You lose almost all of what the dream was about in just a matter of minutes after waking up.
Look around the web for tips on how to remember, most sites will say to keep a notebook and pen ready, and then they will give you ideas and tricks to try.

That's why I remember it so well...I got right on here and started this thread, practically after I woke up! It was so weird...past life regret...I have a lot of regrets, as Nina and T know all to well...and I am worried about the future...part of it I think is my pack will be scattered across the contenient and my family will be so far away...In addition to the "OMG, I'm gonna be a father!" aspect...

Arctic, you have friends. And most of us understand what it means to become a parent, it certainly shakes the ground your standing at. But be brave and dont panic, and all will go as it should. Even for you. ;)

Dreams can vapor pretty easy if you gotta jump out of the bed without a moment or two to ponder upon them. Happens to me a lot as well. Im sure once you make peace with your old self and remove that unnecessary stress your dreams will come back to you ;)
