Title: Nina˘s Horror Marathon
Post by: Nina on December 08, 2010, 01:09:17 PM
Okies, I decided its better to make one topic for all the movies I watch, since Im a bit of an addict for this genre. Ill post movies I watch, and you are all invited to write your own review if you watched the same movie.

The last one I watched is Gravedancers (2006)

After a night of drunken exploits, Allison, Harris, and Kira are chased and terrorized by the ghosts of a child pyromaniac, an ax murderer, and a rapist.

Pretty neat for this kind of movie, good actors and a nice dosage of blood and fright

Actually seen this one and I have to say it was very decent.  The cinematography might not have been top notch but the acting and the story line definitely made up for it.

Nina, it's like you're in my mind! I was actually on the fence about watching this one just recently & now I know I can watch with confidence since both you & Muerte give it your seals of approval. Have you seen the new Freddy?

Scream of the banshee 2011

Pretty neat, irish legends, templars, bloody professors and one banshee  <^>

Saw that one, it was pretty good. I know its not actually horror, but if you enjoy a zombie movie with some humor, I'd recommend "Dead Snow". Also I enjoyed "Let the Right One In", in case none of you have seen it. Not "Let Me In", but the original.

Sorry if everyone's seen it already or have no interest, I just personally really enjoyed them. Especially "Let the Right One In".

@Vic: Let the right one in is awesome too, its really refreshing to see a good "foreign" movie find its way through all the hollywood garbage. Same goes to Night Watch and Day Watch.

Have you seen the new Freddy?

Don't even think about watching it at all:

1.its a complete waste of time, the guy who originally plays freddy isn't in it
2. the plot and storyline sucks monkey butt , its disorganized and its like the script writer just yacked the storyline and that was it
3. the new freddy looks like a cut up raw bloat fish
4. the new freddy doesn't savor or torture his kill, they appear on screen for a minute then he slashes the throat the end
5. the new freddy is just a creepy perv (and not in a way that would be interesting to watch)

Blood Creek (Town Creek) 2009.

Quote
A man and his brother on a mission of revenge become trapped in a harrowing occult experiment dating back to the Third Reich.

Pretty awesome movie, nazi necromancer, the power of runes and blood magick, innocent blondie, and two bros seeking for revenge and justice. For all that seek blood and gross, Im sure this one will make you happy. I had enough for at least a month.

Kudos for Dog Soldiers, definitely one I won't soon forget. Hope Dylan Dog is good, though to be honest my hopes weren't exactly high for it.

Well, just watched it, and here it comes:

For all that actually read the original comic, be prepared: no Groucho (of course) and this time Dylan lives in New Orleans, instead of London  I guess New Orleans is the only place Hollywood film makers can place monsters of any sort, but oh well, better than something else i guess. But he does ride his black Beetle (at least something, right?).

Its not bad i gotta admit, has fun, weres, vamps, ghouls, zombies, which in this case are pretty funny. Specially his partner (damn, i dont think i caught the name  ). Dylan has his share of sex thank God, cause without that it wouldnt be Dylan. Also, we get Belial and a blondie hunter.

What i appreciated most were zombie jokes, and a zombie support group, that was worth seeing.

So, my rating is 4/5, considering its a Hollywood way to present Dylan. Oh, and loved the hommage to Sclavi (one of the creators of the original comic).

Anyways, a fun way to spend an hour and a half, just dont expect too much.

Oh, and if anyone wants to see why im not giving it 5/5, read the original comic. Not the USA version. Damn censorship sux major. Of course, you would need to know italian for it, but not that hard with a dictionary;)

Also, everyone that is interested in watching a REAL Dylan Dog movie, made by italians and shot in Italy, and acted by the one upon which person the character was made, watch this one: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109592/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109592/)

Here comes my latest:

Cowboys and aliens http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409847/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409847/)

I honestly didnt expect a lot from this one, but then the cast pulled me, i mean, Sam Rockwell and Harrison Ford, and that James Bond dude :D Good thing i was raised on western movies (thanks to my dad, he still believes he is this sheriff Mac Loud or something). BUT....

its a pretty damn good movie, for a western. And trust me, aliens in this one are pretty scary, i gotta admit it has to be hard to invent a new species for every movie, and in this one they managed to pull it out. So, it is a weird mixture, but i guess it had to be done, i mean, we had almost every possible thing fighting aliens so far, why not cowboys dangit? So i give it a pretty good 8. It would be more if it wasnt so... mainstream, but i wont be picky and neither should you, its a good time spent.

Oh cowboys fighting aliens has been done before, this is just the first attempt by Hollywood to release in theaters. I had heard it was a so-so movie, not terrible but certainly not great.
