Title: Priceless idiocy
Post by: Jake on June 24, 2012, 01:57:43 PM
Seen on Twitter:

"Tattoo of Leviticus 18:22 forbidding homosexuality: £200. Not knowing that Leviticus 19:28 forbids tattoos: Priceless."

Obviously his local hate preacher hadn't gotten that far into the Bible yet. I can imagine him showing off, all proud of himself, while the preacher thinks 'I knew I should've kept on reading...'

"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD." - Leviticus 19:28, King James Bible, Cambridge Edition.

Generally agreed to be a jab at tattoos (no pun intended. I honestly didn't realise what I'd written before previewing...) which were a common form of worship in Egypt (getting your chosen diety's mark put upon you and all that jazz) and bodily disfigurement in general which again was fairly common practise throughout the Middle East and Africa (not to mention South America, but the Bible wasn't bothered about them folks at this point). Okay, fair enough, Christianity and Judasim have always been pretty good at either assimilating or dissing other practises, however...

Does this mean I can't write on my hand?   :embarassed:

Hm, maybe.

If by "apple tree" you mean "a collection of nonsense about an imaginary god, written thousands of years ago by primitive men to advocate senseless murder, slavery and the oppression of women, and which has no place in our society today."

Them apples be sour. You can keep 'em.

That's the joy of today, it's changing from your archaic ideals into something the catholic  church doesn't want and what people who have faith want, not more dogma preached but a charismatic celebration of what it does do for people who prefer to get their fellowship at a coffee shop or home potluck and questioning what the church put together versus what jesus really meant.

christianity was a victim of the cultures it grew from, and the culture is changing...there are gay pastors in some denominations, the roman church is having to focus more on it's dramatics, mega pastors that teach how to live here and now, it's not the sixties any more and the roman church is losing.

it's an apple tree because even atheists can pick and choose what they want to support their argument, while decrying it's fake.  a bunch of myths sure do bring out their ugly side though....

my apples are slowly putting me in an independent barrel, realizing that the only males who can live up to a persons expectations are the gods, humanity lets me down...in my own mind or not one debatable beign has done more in my life than years of males who have used, abused and deceived me.  Hmmmm, men comparable to a religion...i can see it!

they just insist they're the gods...
