Title: The Othersiders
Post by: Quest on July 01, 2009, 06:14:36 PM
This is a new paranormal investigation show aimed at teens.  In fact, it's a live action show on Cartoon Network, of all places.

It's a teen version of Ghost Hunters, in fact.  It features five teens who investigate "haunted" places.

It seems funny seeing live action reality shows on Cartoon Network.

But I guess this show might get kids interested in the paranormal.  The kids "vote" on weather they think the place is haunted or not at the end of the episode.

It's definitely inspired by SyFy's Ghost Hunters.

I think they discovered that the live action shows are cheaper to produce than animated ones.

Hence, they are becoming less and less of a "cartoon network".

I know Nic got into the live action shows a while back.  They started going for the "tween" audience, which is the kids inbetween kids and teenagers.  It turned out to be a solid audience for them.  Actually, Nic was copying Disney Channel, which decided the live action shows were less expensive than the animated ones.

Cartoon Network used to experiment showing movies which were live action but had computer generated "animation" for the special effects, calling them animated.  But now they're drifting into programs which cannot be considered animated at all.

They are becoming more of a kids network.

Yeah, I've been seeing the ads for the show too. I think I'll wait and see if it makes it passed season one before I give it any serious consideration; mainly because kids are notoriously fickle.
