Title: The "Word of Life" Clan
Post by: Devinoir on April 21, 2010, 11:49:39 PM
Me and my friends organized a kind of a meeting in downtown Yerevan against unfair treatment by the police, against injustice and intolerance, and it soon sprawled and gathered about 50-60 teenagers - just passers-by, but anyways.. I'll tell you about it in another thread. What happened is that a few guys approached us and asked us if we were Christians. Armenia, my country, is Christian, so that's a question asked often enough. Anyways, I said we were there as citizens in the first place, and that our religious views did not matter. Anyways, they started this long discussion and soon turned out to be clan members, and, well, they invited me and one of my friends (who happens to be a Rastaman) to their so called "Church". We did. And what we saw there.. amused us, to say the truth. A huge marble cross in the yard, a huge mansion that could've been the one in the Godfather movies, with the latest equipment and all. Their "mass" was a concert with little emo girls singing for the most part. When it was not, there were some scumbags speaking in these Holy Joe voices with the mellow music to amplify the effect of total, like, holiness. And what they did was, they wanted money. Literally. If you love Jesus, they said, sacrifice the last penny you have - they said a $100 per person would do, and the Lord would appreciate it.
And later, when we talked to their leaders in private, they started proving that The Bible itself says that what they're doing is right... And you know, they had all these little kids there that are going to grow up wearing that blindfold of corrupt religion... I wonder what you'd say about it.

well thats not surprising, just terribly sad. i think its tragic that some people are so desperate for some meaning that they are eager and willing to believe the first con man who speaks in a smooth voice and plays the role well.
i think your tale is dreadfully telling of the poor current state of human condition, grasping at straws as it were...

This is quite prevalent in my country as well. It almost makes me wanna start my own denomination. :banplea:

The thing is, they have about 10000 members, and just in this city. They're corrupting the society, that's, apparantly, desperate for yet another scumbag to lead it. We wonder if there is a chance to get rid of them or good. I'm thinking of undermining them on either financial or constitutional ground. It's a huge beast to take, though.

This is a problem for the ages. Ever since there was religion, people have been using it to furthur their own ends.

THis is a christian denomination right? Ergo the big christian groups should take up this fight. (the roman catholics for example)
They don't charge a hundred $ per person, and they're unusually lenient.... The priests are anyway. There are still ultra fanatical members that give people menopause with their levels of intolerance and tighted arsedness. :-D

I'm not sure if I want to start fighting fire with fire. I'll bring up some journalist friends and find some s**t in their sewers, and exploit it... lol?

Better than my plan. The catholic church isn't as spiteful or Smighty as it used to be..... I miss the smitting.

But still. Try not to be too visible a target. Try to play them off another group if possible. That'll give you more time to fix stuff up for your next op.

Or if you're trying to paint a target on yourself then this is a great idea!

Just leave it. If some people out there think they need to buy faith then let them.

Why? so that they damage the economy  by paying for a non physical product? I think not!

Erm.... That's not really how the economy works.

Still, that's not how the society works either. I don't really care if some morons want to lock themselves up in a cellar and sacrifice their pimples to some moronic deity of theirs, but when they touch my citizens, when they fark around with my society - that's a whole other story.

Your citizens? Your society? Who are you? Freaking Batman. You may think you are doing these people a favor but you can't save people who don't want to be saved. You can raise awareness of what they are doing but that's all. People will do what they want and if they are dumb enough to follow this cult then they will.
