I for one subscribe to the idea that the soul is not defined by the physical body at all. Thus a soul may take on certain characteristics according to the body it inhabits.(or bodies if we include transmigration), Some people may just like wearing the animal fur suit better than the human flesh bag.
Having said that, I do agree that people are rather silly acting like being any of these thing is exclusive to each other.
Oh and i alson think that tiger is a troll....... No not that one. The the type that lives under bridges and is troubled by billy goats.
spirit journeys make excellent shaman, not vampires, werewolves and other inhuman creatures, my daughter displays wolf like behavior, a lot of animals actually, she likes them better then other people...she's thirteen and makes a claim, will even boldly tell me to stay away she's in wolf form, i see no wolf and she takes her bath when i tell her to.
while the body and mind are connected, the mind can change, but the body can not. i was doing well until the person came on trying to justify it by dismissing christianity and then saying they were responsible. my god has nothing to do with my inability to believe such claims and actually more to do with my old witcheries, just because a spirit can inhabit one doesn't mean the medium is a spirit, just that they have a mind and spiritual fortitude to deal with such things on a personal level.
spiritualism is ancient, shamanism is ancient, even the idea of demonology is ancient...compared to werewolves and that sort that are glamorized are maybe a little over a hundred years old and were created as destroyers of humanity derived from country pagan folk stories and superstition, they questioned the darkness around them, not their spirituality.
