Lolz, once again, yes it does. :-D

So are they really evil? Or just too different for us to fully comprehend? :?

The idea behind changelings was that it was a joke on humans. Faeries weren't seen as having the same emotions or morals as humans. So an inconcevable act for a human, such as giving up your own child, supposedly meant nothing to a faerie.

I believe that while faeries don't have the same emotions - like Countness stated - they can't be ALL evil. I think there are as much of good and evil in faeries as in humans, but they probably like to play tricks a lot on people too.

If they indeed do exist, they would see us as lower life-forms existing on a level far below the one they occupy, in much the same way we would veiw chimpanzees or baboons I guess. Thus, the ideal of ethics would probably not apply when the fey deal with creatures they regard as being barely above mere beasts.

On a side note, I find it interesting that Petling mentioned the idea of changelings being no more than infants that were suffering from a congenital or behavioural disorder. According to Scandinavian legend, a promising way of recovering one's child from the fey was to mistreat or even slay the changeling that had been left in the place of a stolen infant. Little surprise then that when a few centuries ago, a certain woman in Sweden was brought before the courts for the crime of having cooked her child in an oven while it was still alive, she responded by claiming that she had merely been trying to recover her true child from the fey that had stolen it. Makes for interesting reading, dosen't it?

I totally agree Angel. I have encountered some very kind members of the Fey. Even they like to play pranks just not as mean, things like moving your keys & then putting them in the first place you looked after you've torn the house apart. If you are having a problem with them, try leaving gifts. Honey, wine, milk, anything sweet pretty much just a little outside or somewhere in the house just overnight. Or try planting flowers, bushes, trees, fruit that re favorites of fairies. Lists can be found all over the internet or if anyone wants one I can PM them one. They can be a wonderful addition to a home, you just have to understand & work with them.

They aren't evil at all. Their motivations are completely alien to humans. Those Faeries that are considered evil are only considered such because they are particularly malicious to humans.
But how many people that stomp on bugs can be considered evil? I'm sure the cockroach thinks we're despicable, but we're higher beings, and it's just something we do.

Excellent point!!! I hate how humans automatically classify something they don't understand to be evil. Disgusting, if you ask me. :|

No, it's not really disgusting. Because if something intelligent feeds on humans, like an malicious faerie or vampire, it's easier for us to call it evil than deal with the fact that we're little more cattle to be eaten.

I believe in faeries!!  :-D :-D

As do I. I have seen fairie rings before. I've even had them show up in my yard b4.
Insanity is a fun state of mind. I can amuse myself and have my friends wanting to get me a straight jacket and a padded room.
