Title: The mermaids unique ability
Post by: Night Energy on August 10, 2011, 11:13:32 AM
What do you think about the ability of transforming any solid thing into water in the contact with the mermaids thus giving them the ability to go through them like ghosts( including plants, humans, animals, objects, buildings ).                                I also specific that this ability make them water-like molecular structure, but it don't make them true water, only making it in appearance while the mermaid go through solid things.

I've never heard of that ability in association with merfolk.

Nor have I.

Well, that wouldnt give them a water like molecular structure as water is unable to pass through solid objects. When water is poored into a glass, it dosnt fall out the bottom.

Where did you hear about this ability?  I find it somewhat interesting.

The second  sentence refer for when the mermaids go through anything solid it makes the solid things structure water, not the mermaids structure, like in their habitat where most space is water, making them easier to move on dry land.

We know that they live in water, so with this ability they could live also on dry lands, partially better, if not totally.

And for this ability it has the purpose to make any dry land their habitat, also to defend themself from aggressors.

I wont  say the source, but think of it, the mermaids we know are great how they are, however they aren't that powerfull and with this ability they can be better in every way.

Yes it is true that they are good in water, but it is not true that they are good on every existing terrain. With this ability things about them are more interesting, they are way more better, don't you think?
If you find this ability not good, TeteoInan you find better for the mermaids to be not high ranked creatures, just banal ones.

The question isn't whether they're better with this ability, but rather if the ability even exists. I mean, for something to have apparently not been heard by any members that have posted doesn't necessarily make it false, but it does bring it into question. Do you have a source that you can give? Because, while it won't necessarily sway anyone, it could definitely help the claim. From everything I've read (which isn't to say it's more or near what you all have read), I've never heard of abilities such as these from a source I had faith in.

Night Energy, the fact that you won't name the source makes me leary of lending any credibility to your statement. It's nothing personal, but I like to check out a source for myself, do my own research, before drawing any conclusions.

Nice, i only wanted to find only comments that aren't about the source of the given ability and yet i saw the majority of the posts here are about  it.
How inconvenient to found what you didn't wanted to find.

That last sentence made no sense.
You know what, sometimes nothing in your life doesn't make any sense.

Night energy, I don't know if it's accidental poor grammar or you being a smart ass.

My post here was another that went missing.
I'm going to TRY to give your idea some form of credibility, and ask if what you're describing is a gift that was bestowed upon them by whomever held the mythological Triton?

I'm sure we would be willing to try and see your side, if you'd be willing to share your sources, or at least give us a link or a title of a book to do our own research about it.

That's a double negative. So what you are saying is, sometimes, everything in my life does make sense. If you were trying to sound profound or something it would have been better if you said nothing in your life makes sense. Or you were saying it as a joke as the sentence itself makes no sense.

Back to the original sentence of nonsense.

How inconvenient to found what you didn't wanted to find.

Did you mean, how inconvenient to HAVE found what you didn't want to find?

Just say your opinion without asking the source of it. I believe it can be done or maybe i'm wrong?

Honestly? I'm no expert (or rather far from one) but I don't believe this ability is possible.

Your general unwillingness to give us a source, is giving me the impression this ability is one you have made up, or read in some Children's fantasy book, somewhere.
And well, I was attempting to defend you and your idea. You could have given this forum, or at least me, the respect of a proper answer in return.
