Title: Song quotes
Post by: ravinclaw on July 24, 2009, 05:14:40 PM
Well, weve quoted just about everything else, movies, games, books, but some of the most meaningfull s**t Ive ever heard has come from songs.

here are a few of my favorites.

"Quicksands got no sence of humer, Im still laughing like hell"

" What I realy meant to say, is Im sory for the way I am"

" she broke my heart in the trailer park, so I jacked the keys to ther farkin car, crashed that piece a s**t, then steped away"

" Im not like them but I can pretend"

I could go on and on and on and on........
but I wont, but Ill be back,

the third one was from Dumb by Nirvana,

and I knew you would know and yeah, it would be easier to give a title but here is the thing,
If we can write a lyric and someone hasnt heard the song, It may inspire them to find it and listen to it, right?

here are some more Nirvana quotes
and I would sugest anyone to check them out,

" the sun is gone but I have a light"

" we float around, and hang out on clouds then we come down , have a hangover"

" Ive been lost inside your heart shaped box for weaks"

In Cobains writing, you have to look for meaning, he gives the illusion of just random phrases sometimes, but there is alot of meaning if you just look.

well the second one there is sorta self explainatory and its sorta just for me :-D
but any way

"We contemplate oblivion as we resonate our dissonance
In godless random interpretation
The universe still expands
Mankind still can't understand
How to define you
So hide your face, and watch us exterminate
Ourselves, over you
Welcome to the end my friend
The sky has opened"

:o So much meaning in that verse. I also love "There is no stronger drug than reality", from the same band.

the 1st one on the last post is Demon speading by the man himself, Rob Zombie
the other three Ive heard, but im not sure about so Ill let you tell me, or someone else if they know.

on your first post I think the 1st one is from disturbed, I could be wrong,
the 3rd, the name of the song is bother and I LOVE that song but Ill be damned I cant think of who it is.
and 2nd is from Pearl jam, thats a good song too and speaking of Pearl jam, there is a song I waunt to learn on guitar and I have no idea what the name of it is,

through most of the song I cant understand a damn thing he says except for "I dont waunt to stay" any idea what Im talking about?

from one of my favorites, do you know what it is?

" I know some things that you dont, Ive done things that you waunt, nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home"

" sometimes it takes a funeral to make you feal alive"

Because I find these guys absolutely HILARIOUS:

Quote
Vulcanize the whoopee stick
In the ham wallet

Cattle prod the oyster ditch
With the lap rocket

Batter dip the cranny ax
In the gut locker

Retrofit the pudding hatch
Ooh la la
With the boink swatter

If i get you in the loop when I make a point to be straight with you then
In lieu of the innuendo in the end know my intent though
I Brazilian wax poetic so hypothetically
I don't wanna beat around the bush

Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo
Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo

Marinate the nether rod
In the squish mitten

Power drill the yippee bog
With the dude piston

Pressure wash the quiver bone
In the lady wrinkle

Cannonball the fiddle cove
Ooh la la
With the pork steeple

Quote
Sweat baby, sweat baby
Sex is a Texas drought
Me and you do the kind of stuff
That only Prince would sing about
So put your hands down my pants
And I bet you'll feel nuts
Yes I'm Siskel, yes I'm Ebert
And you're getting two thumbs up
You've had enough of two-hand touch
You want it rough, you're out of bounds
I want you smothered, want you covered
Like my Waffle House hashbrowns
Comin' quicker than Fed Ex
Never reach an apex
Just like coca-cola stock
You are inclined to make me rise an hour early
Just like daylight savings time

Sweet ass raps yo.

Fire Water Burn, you'll lovett just like Lyle

But I changed the quote to a discovery channel one because it is much, much, much more entertaining.

I always liked 3 Doors Down by the way but 'Kryptonite' more than 'Loser'. Sweet lyrics still bro.

I was a fan of metal for maybe a year, but never really got into flyleaf. Possibly because I have no reason why I was ever listening to that genre.

Btw, is this as popular in the US as it is over here? Nothing like a freaky rave blasting beats like these...

Quote
Aww s**t, get your towels ready it's about to go down (shorty, yeah)
Everybody in the place hit the farking deck (shorty, yeah)
But stay on your motherfarking toes
We running this, let's go

I'm on a boat (I'm on a boat)
I'm on a boat (I'm on a boat)
Everybody look at me 'cause I'm sailing on a boat (sailing on a boat)
I'm on a boat (I'm on a boat)
I'm on a boat
Take a good hard look at the motherfarking boat (boat, yeah)

I'm on a boat motherfarker take a look at me
Straight flowing on a boat on the deep blue sea
Busting five knots, wind whipping out my coat
You can't stop me motherfarker cause I'm on a boat

Take a picture, trick (trick)
I'm on a boat, lady (lady)
We drinking Santana champ,
Cause it's so crisp (crisp)
I got my swim trunks
And my flippie-floppies
I'm flipping burgers, you at Kinko's
Straight flipping copies

I'm riding on a dolphin, doing flips and s**t
The dolphin's splashing, getting everybody all wet
But this ain't Seaworld, this is real as it gets
I'm on a boat, motherfarker, don't you ever forget

I'm on a boat and
It's going fast and
I got a nautical themed
Pashmina afghan
I'm the king of the world
On a boat like Leo
If you're on the shore,
Then you're sure not me-oh

Get the fark up, this boat is REAL!

fark land, I'm on a boat, motherfarker (motherfarker)
fark trees, I climb buoys, motherfarker (motherfarker)
I'm on the deck with my boys, motherfarker (yeah)
This boat engine make noise, motherfarker

Hey ma, if you could see me now (see me now)
Arms spread wide on the starboard bow (starboard bow)
Gonna fly this boat to the moon somehow (moon somehow)
Like Kevin Garnett, anything is possible

Yeah, never thought I'd be on a boat
It's a big blue watery road (yeah)
Poseidon
Look at me, oh (all hands on deck)

Never thought I'd see the day
When a big boat coming my way
Believe me when I say
I farked a mermaid

Nah mate, you still got the musical skills, I'll stick to my astrology...

Not only astrology, but many fields, my friend. And thanks for the compliment. I should know my stuff considering the amount of time I spend with my music.

Do you listen to any real techno (or deviation there of)? Also is The Lonely Island as famous US way as in Australia? I posted lyrics on page before.
Title: Re: Song quotes

This goes to show you how little I know about techno and how I'm not the complete musical genius you think I am. I've never even heard of that band the Lonely Island. Is it much a big deal where you are?

Well there is this international student who arrived at my school today and he knows only 4 words so far, those 4 words are 'The Lonely Island' and 'please'.

Here are a few snidbits of a pretty cool song,

"Drive by body pierce"   I love that phrase

"Im a loser baby, so why dont ya kill me"

"shave your face with some mace in the dark"

I know one!!! I know the artist!!! But what the hell is the name of that song? If it's 'It ends Tonight' then argh, but it has to be something else...

Oh, artist being All American Rejects of course. One of my fave quotes from one of their songs;

Quote
One- more thing before I go
Two- the one who loves me so
Three- don't make me count to three again

Sweet-as play on words bru.

Quote
Well I was out cruisin', getting late and I was losin',
When I saw you walking my way,
So nonchalant, I bet you get what you want,
But so do I and I aint losing today.
Well your hips were swinging and your jeans were clinging,
You were driving me out of my mind,
On a hot afternoon when there's nothing to do,
Your not the sort of thing a fellow should find,
So I pulled on over, tossed your hair off your shoulder,
When you turned and you looked my way,
Oh you would have died or you'd have skinned me alive,
If I'd have said what I wanted to say,
So being polite said what you doin' tonight,
You said just so happens I'm free,
You got all the right curves and all the right words,
And that's alright by me.

The sound of my childhood...

While everyone else was getting into rock, Smokie was sitting there on the edge of 'folk' just missing out on the spotlight. Poor guys.

you were right on mine, Im a loser by Beck, all three of them.

"When your brought into this world, they say your born with sin, Well at least they gave me something I didnt have to steal or have to win"

here is a little beter hint, same song.

" I never drew first, but I drew first blood, Im the devils son."

You were right! If I ever get on one of those gameshows where you can call someone to help with the answer, Id be callin you with a music question.

here is one from another of my favorite songs,
this one is for my evil little wife, whom I love dearley.

" As wicked as you are, your beutiful to me. You are the darkest burning star, your my perfect diseaze."

Hey, it takes an evil woman to put up with me :-D

did I actually write want instead of won't? I meant won't

that first one on your last post sounds familiar, country?

if this was a game, you would be kicking my ass bad.

'I DONT CARE' BY APOCALYPTICA!!! <3 AMG <3

Nope, can't guess either of those. The one mentioned before was just completely straight forward. Strong lyrics though, kind of like these, they get me everytime I'm even slightly down;

Quote
I've got one friend
laying across form me
I did not choose him
he did not choose me

so put out the fire boys
don't stop don't stop
put out the fire on us

bring the buckets by the dozens
bring your nieces and your cousins
come put out the fire on us

Never heard of Course of Nature, but I'll look 'em up.

The quote was from Right Where it Belongs by Nine Inch Nails on his album With Teeth. Great song! It's about how after all, the entire world is just a dream, that you're sleeping and this is all an illusion. "What if the world you think you know, Is an elaborate dream?" "Are you sure what side of the glass you're on?"

Trent Reznor is a god. Best musician/singer ever (Well that might be an exaggeration, but his lyrics and the music is really good :-P), plus he does it all himself and he's not doing it for the money. He's made two albums he gave away for free on his website and he's even encouraged his fan to pirate his music because he thinks the label companies are abusing the fans by making them pay too much for his art. He helped Marilyn Manson get his stuff going, so you can have an idea of his kind of music.

Here's another one.. (a tough one I hope :-P)

It's over, probably I'll be sweating it
But in the long run you'll be the one regrettin' it
Maybe you won't, maybe you will
But baby, you're still about as real as a three dollar bill

No idea what that one is, but you got mine right. Maybe I shouldn't have posted a song with the name of the album in the lyrics :-P (Album: Three Dollar Bill, Yall$)

I recently started listening to Limp Bizkit again... nostalgia kicking in :-P

"I feel the pain when Im drinkin but it dont seam to cut as deap, when I lay down without you...... IT MAKES IT EASIER TO GO TO SLEEP!!"

I like this band alot, but alot of people have probably never heard of them......unless your from the south U.S.

I didn't want to post twice in a row, but since no one's guessed . . . . The name of the song is Monster and it's by Skillet.

lol I just realized i never checked the song... Why is it that every time you post lyrics from a band I never paid attention to before, I end up liking them? (Now that I've actually listened to all their songs, I'd say I only like a couple songs.. Skillet ain't really my thing)

Here's a quote:

"We fight til no one can fight us
We live, and no one can stop us
We pull when we're pushed too far
And the advantage is
The bottom line is
We never, had to fight in the first place
We only, had to spit back at their face
We won't, walk alone any longer
What doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger"

It's most likely an easy one, but hell, it's great.

Yeh I'm not using the entire quote, principles mate.  :-D

Roses over jewellery and enclosed trucks over sports cars. I'd never be able to wear the jewellery for fear of losing or damaging it, my hair's to long to whip around elegantly in sports cars not too mention how fast they go.

Here's a quote:

Quote
Something stirring in the air, a victory?
A time-bomb ticking to explode,
Something passive, something not.
Billy clubs out, call the S.W.A.T.
Rabid dogs without a leash,
is this how you keep the peace?

Go and get your riotgear,
swing your girlie all around,
we'll be dancing on the cinders,
as the town is burning down.

Swing's in the rhythm bro so now here's a speech from a certain song, if you've heard the song then more likely than not you'll know this;

Quote
Once upon a time at the foot of a great mountain, there was a town where the people known as Happyfolk lived.(Chorus in background humming)Their very existence a mystery to the rest of the world, obscured as it was by great clouds. Here they played out their peaceful lives, innocent of the litany of excess and violence that was growing in the world below. To live in harmony with the spirit of the mountain called Monkey was enough. (Chorus stops humming) Then one day Strangefolk arrived in the town. They came in camouflaged, hidden behind dark glasses, and no one noticed them; they only saw shadows. You see, without the truth of the eyes, the Happyfolk were blind.

Falling out of aeroplanes and hiding out in holes
Waiting for the sunset to come, people going home
Jump out from behind them, and shoot them in the head
Now everybody dancing the dance of the dead
The dance of the dead
The dance of the dead.

No one listen to the Gorrilaz anymore?

I don't belong here
I never saw this on the path I walk
The blood-stained walls, the lines of chalk on the floor
Its getting so hard
I never saw the backlash, when the tide began to rise
I can't remember
The way it was when everything felt right
My mouth held shut and eyes sealed tight with control

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

and

Well you may throw your rock and hide your hand
Workin' in the dark against your fellow man
But as sure as God made black and white
What's down in the dark will be brought to the light

Mmm to build on that vibe Whitedrake...

Quote
I'm a-goin' back out 'fore the rain starts a-fallin'
I'll walk to the deepths of the deepest black forest
Where the people are a many and their hands are all empty
Where the pellets of poison are flooding their waters
Where hunger is ugly, where souls are forgotten
Where black is the color, where none is the number
And I'll tell and think it and speak it and breathe it
And reflect it from the mountain so all souls can see it
Then I'll stand on the ocean until I start sinkin'
But I'll know my songs well before I start singin'
And it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard, it's a hard...

Some are... but not quite all  :-P  Actually, I think it's just their hits I like rather than their entire album..

I think the thing with Bob Dylan is that he is renowned as an artist for both his songs and his poetry. What makes him both renowned and so likeable for me at least, is that his songs and his poetry are the same thing.

I listen to mostly techno now a days. A genre where the lyrics don't mean a thing. So I love artists such as Bob Dylan for being able to write such beautiful ballads.

So you've actually heard robots having sex? That's crazy, Drake!

I'm still waiting to know what was the name of that song Andrea posted the lyrics to earlier in the thread... Google didn't give much info...

Lots of techno has lyrics, most of it's trance though. Check out Ministry of Sound, every track on that album has vocals. Or Armin Van Burren, Intimacy Remixed, deejayRT or if all else fails 89ers. Hell yeahhh.

I looked up deejayRT yesterday... Couldn't find anything other than the Fallen Leaves remix... :-(

The rest is in another language...
