I live in New Zealand in a turn of the century villa (built about 1903),  I have a friend who is a medium from the UK who came over to visit earlier this year, and who said tht she could not relax int he house because of the spirits all around her.  Now, I do believe in ghosts, and both of my children have seen something in the house.  We have woken to find a young man stood either at the end of the beds or at the side of the beds on numerous occassions, children have been heard late at night running up and down the hallway, whe my own children have been fast asleep.  Our cats have freaked out when something has moved past them.

THrough my friend, she has identified at least five different spirits, although now appears to have gone.  Whilst she was here, in my daughters bedroom, there was a heavy oppressing presence. The room was also icy cold, when the rest of the house was warm.  I had a maori elder bless the room and since then, the room has warmed up and my daughter sleeps well at night now.

We have found out since then that a young man committed suicide in the room about 25 years ago but the presence in the room was heavier and more malevolent than I have know before from a suicide haunting.

I am still researching the house's history and will keep you up to date as to what I find.

In the meantime, we live in harmony with the spirits that are here.  Makes you a bit jumpy at night sometimes when you say excuse me to someone and realise that the living are all asleep and that the person you are speaking to is see through!

Just here recently I have noticed dark shadow like shapes from the hallway to the bedroom

Dark enought to dim the lighting from the hallway, just a dark form that is pretty much doing the same thing over and over

Gets cold before and after it happens :-o

Maaark... I'm sure the Doc told you only ONE of those little pink pills a day, right?

Seriously though, that sounds both spooky and awesome! I do kind of miss living in an area with large amounts of supernatural phenomena going on. Keep us updated, ok?

i am not sure if this house is haunted my brother thinks so, but w/e is there seems completely harmless, only opens doors and talks and stuff . (i think its one of those ones that repeats things it did in its life like a movie or something idk) i personally am an insomniac but when i sleep there i find it very easy to sleep and had no bad or weird dreams like usual. collectively we think it was a doctor that once lived there long ago. my brother and his freind did once hear crashing noises near the stairs and a family freind heard someone talking when there wasn't any people(living) talking at all.

I always thought it would be interesting to live in a haunted house.  Unfortunately my family disagrees.

Mine don't have a choice. *grins*

I don't know if this qualifies, but random stuff happens at my house.  Things like flashes of white light (this is a new development), shadows moving when they shouldn't be, dvd/vhs players turning on and off, and on some occassions spitting out the vhs tape when no one even did anything to it.  There is also footsteps, the sounds of doors opening and closing when no one is there, and things moving around a bit in my room.

also, my mom has a motion activated gorrilla that dad gave her for valentines day that just randomly goes off for no apparent reason, tho that might be more mechanical failure than a haunting.

This stuff doesn't happen all the time, which is probably a good thing. otherwise we'd ll go nuts.

My name is Callum  and i have lived in Ireland all my life. I live in a big family of six, my mother, father, brother and two sisters. We lived in a large house at the time of the haunting that took place five years ago. I was 13 at the time. The poltergeist activity mainly occured around my sister who was 12, I will call her M.

Anyway it all began one day when my sisters and I were walking home from school, M slipped and hit her head on the curb. She wasnt in any pain and claimed she could hardly feel it. When we got home she climbed straight into bed and fell asleep even though it was only 3:30pm. The rest of my family sat down for dinner(we decided not to wake M) when M came running out of her room screaming. She was in a great shock. She told us that she that the blanket slid off the bed and that someone pulled her out of it. My parents put it off as her imagination and sat her down for dinner. That was the start of the haunting.

Weeks later M had fallen sick and was confined to her bed. During this period strange noises would be heard around the house mostly from M's room. It sounded like a hammer banging off the walls. Again we put it off as the house making the noises. Neighbours would come over and complain about the noises but we told them we didnt know about it.

When M had gotten better everything was peaceful for a while. She would complain that her bed would jump from time to time and that she found it hard to sit down in a chair without it rocketing away. My parents began to accept something was wrong after the witnessed pictures flying off the wall and the chairs sliding across the floor.

For a while M, myself and my other siblings were sent away to live with an aunt. When they had realised that it had followed us there we returned home.

The attacks on M got more violent. She would be thrown out of bed, pussed down and dragged up the stairs, thrown off chairs, slapped occasionaly and would have objects thrown at her. She would constantly be confined to bed as she would constsntly become ill. Even in bed the attack continued, sometime locking her bedroom door so we cannot reach her but only listen to her screams on the other side of the door.

Word spread through out th community about the going-ons inside our household. Neighbours would come to visit us in hope of seeing something unusual happeneing. They're hopes would be answered by having stones, plates and even pieces of turf thrown at them. One neighbour thought of calling the incident "The O'Brien Haunting" and it stuck for the rest of my life.

A friend suggested we get a priest. So we did, three different preists at three different times. Neither one of them worked. But one thing did help, the attacks on M became less frequent. Unfortuantly the poltergeist didnt leave completely. It still liked destroying furniture and throwing objects around. Three months after the preists came the poltergeist had vanished without a trace. Peace finnaly overcame our house hold. Everything was quiet again. M was back to normal, but she missed alot of school so that was a downfall.

Im now 18 and we are all still living in the house that inhabited our unearthly 'friend'. The exact location of our house is a small town called Kilmallock, Co.Limerick.

Thank you, Callum.

my house used to be haunted.  but recently my brother and I havent experienced anything.  we believe it use to be haunted by my grandma who passed away about 3 years ago and our dog Sam that passed away about 4 years ago.

the first few thing started happening about a year after our dog passed away.  I was sitting at my computer late one night like i did many times wen our dog was still alive.  I was a little cold so i threw a cover over my legs and about an hour later it felt like something heavy had plopped down on the part of the cover that was on the floor.  i could even feel the pressure of something on my feet as well.  my first reaction was that it was my other dog or my cat looking to get on my lap.  when i looked down to see which pet it was there was nothing there.  our dog Sam used to love curling up at the feet of whoever had a cover on at the computer.  so i believe it was him doing so even after death.  the only other things that really happened were times that my brother felt something like fur passing by his arm but no other perts were even near him.  something that felt like something biting his big toe with nothing there and every so often we would catch a small dark shadow darting around the corner that lead to the hallway.  the only reason i can think of why our dog has stayed here is his loyalty and that he had a very unfortunete death.  he died of an infection, intestinal parasites. and a tumor.

the next haunt was my grandma.  i was up at 6 AM watching a movie and playing video games.  it never really accured to me of the date until things started to happen.  the date was august 15th my grandmas birthday.  the movie had just gotten over and the credits were rolling and music was playing for the credits so i didnt really notice the weird sound at first but when i got up to walk to the kitchen i finally noticed it.  it was a different music playing other then what was on te movie on tv.  so i looked around for the source and it turns out it was this old music box type thing that had belonged to my grandma.  when i finally figured out what had made the noise i was a little beside myself to say the least.  but never the less i started trying to see if there was by chance any kind of reason that could cause it to start going by itself.  its not because i am skeptic cause i have never been skeptic about the paranormal.  its just my logical nature to try and disprove it rather then prove it.  so i tried everything i could think of but nothing could make it go again.  so after my brother woke up i told him about it and he tried to see if he could figure out what could have cause it and had no luck either.  a couple months past by and the event slips to the back of our minds until the dat of my grandmas death comes about.  it had been 1 year exact now after she had passed away and we were going to go visit her grave that day and i started walking through the house heading to the kitchen and was stopped dead in my tracks because i had heard the music box going off again.  the only thing i could do was stand there and stare for a few seconds then i managed to call my brother out to where i was to hear it.  he came out heard it and stopped dead in his track as well.  and we both just kind of stood there for bout a minute listening to it and watching it spin.  the only other real interesting thigs that happened after that was a latch lock i have to the door in my room was sitting up right against the wall where it was atached fell over out of no where.  i watched it fall to one side and rock back and forth like it would if some one had tipped it over.  while this happened i was talking to a friend of my and it stopped him midsentance  and we just kind of looked at each other for a few seconds then he got up to see what had happened.  by the time he got over to the latch it was back up in position like it had never been nocked over.  i had only taken my eyes off it for a few seconds.  and in that time period it had been put back up with out a single noise.  and the final thing that happened was when my aunt passed away from lung cancer just a few months ago.  on the same night she passed away the little music box broke.  it had a kind of glass an it and it shattered when my brother moved it.  and later that night a chair in our basement moved.

now the only weird things going on around here are the occasianly seen shadow darting around the corner.  and our other dog sometimes acts like he sees something standing behind our bigger tv that we have.  but nothing to out of the ordinary.

oh and sorry for this being a kind of long one sometimes i dont know when to shut up.  especially about things like this.

Hope your ghost-dog is a friendly one WhyT! I sure would have been scared of it!

I have a question about my 'hauntings'. They're not actually hauntings so much, more 'wierd happenings'.

I live in Malta (Mediterranean) and i'm 23 years old (for all those lazy guys who won't click on my profile )

As of last month, clocks have been stopping around me  :-(

1) the small clock on my boyfriend's desk stopped, I asked him where I can find a battery, and we changed it. this incident wasn't noted until later. this clock stopped at 18.30

2) the small clock in our kitchen stopped. my mum asked me to change the batteries, so i did. I didn't notice this incident either. this clock stopped at 15.03

3) the wall clock in the study (08.51am) and
4) the clock on the desk in the same study (9.18am) stopped. I noticed them at the same time. I exclaimed ''Well! All the clocks around are stopping!" And i told my mum and my brother who were near me at the moment what had happened to me.
I put the batteries on the small clock on the desk, and then fetched a chair to stand on to change the large clock which was hanging on the wall.
I asked my brother to read the time from my laptop coz I was certain that was good. He told me it was 13.30. Now i knew that wasn't good as I had just changed the small clock. I told him don't mess with me. dont make me come down again from the chair. Anyway, I went down, and we both looked at the time on the laptop. I looked back at my brother and back down at the laptop's time, and it had changed into 14.40 in a second!!!!!!!!!!

By then i was totally freaked out! I mean, if it had been only me, i would surely have doubted myself or scoffed it off as a mistake, but i mean, the both of us!!
Then obviously, my brother said that i was going to die and stuff, but i was nearly brought into tears!

Five days later i started to relax, but then, guess what?!

5) I went to eat at my boyfriend's and the dining room hanging wall stopped at 08.00 (don't know if am or pm)

6) The hospital ward i work for bought a cheap desk clock, and i was the 1st one to notice it had a defect and the numbers were put on reverse (the back paper with the numbers was put on inside out so the numbers appeared as if in a mirror)

7)I switched on my mobile phone at 7.30am and found it was 4.30am

This happened last friday (2 days ago) so i guess it's still going on. I have alabis for al of the instances, except for no.7
I am turning paranoid at every watch i look at. Nothing else significant has happened, but this isn't coincidence, especially with the laptop time!!  :?

If anyone has ever heard of this, post pleeeezzzeeee *begging without dignity*

Glor - Funny enough clocks and light bulbs are two objects I normally have trouble with; some time ago I had problems with all the light bulbs in the house burning out, I changed it once and it went out again almost instantly but to a ghostfans' disappointment I'd might add that it can possibly be coincidence or just a flaw in these items. I can't just put the blame on supernatural individuals or say that certain things were caused by an imprint of a departed soul, sorry if I'm spoiling anyones fun for being too realistic. My room, for instance, I was under the impression that I saw a pearl white man who was hanged in my closet, I nearly always have the feeling of someone standing behind me in a dark corridor late at night or that feeling I'm being watched but what does this mean? but what would it matter? The house was recently build, we are the first family living in it, there is no history, unless if it followed me? For all I know, with the game of shadows and lights maybe things are not what they appear to be, maybe it's a fragment of our imagination.
           Here goes my two cents.

I can't agree more. Though my house is more than 152 years old (that was the latest record we can find), but through the records we know nothing wierd or anything happened. It was just the peaceful common house.
But more clocks have been stopping and going crazy, though not at the fast rate they were before. We had to scrap the big clock in my study room, and my boyfriend's father grandfather clock is now in for repair. i smashed my favourite watch  against the railing of a bus while i was going up.

At this point, i am riding it out to see what's more...

and thankyou so much for the reply

Hey Everyone,

I'm the new guy to the Forum, and this is my first post, so bear with me here!  I will admit right here, and now, that I'm not much for buying into the paranormal thing, and so on!  Kinda more of a skeptic till proven otherwise (and it takes some pretty good convincing to prove me otherwise), but I got one for ya!   I am a long distance truck driver, and spend a lot of time back east, where I kind of developed an interest in older houses with cool architecture, as opposed to the newer, more cookie cutter houses that are more prevalent in my area out here in Southern California!  So, much to my wife protesting, when I came across an turn of the century Craftsman "Cockpit " Bungalow, I had to go with it!

Now, this was our first home, and originally I had the mindset of gutting it out, and starting over, but after playing around with the Historical Society, they said I should look into some history about the place, so I did just that!  Turns out, it was built by the first Mayor of our town, and the first member of the Fire Dept!  I thought that was actually pretty cool, so I dug a bit deeper. and wanted to know what came of the orgional owners, so I started trying to track down death certificates, and so on, to backtrack the paper trail, and interestingly enough, as our home was originally in the middle of a field, out in the middle of no where, It was customary upon request of the owners of the home, that they may be buried on site, by whatever means they see fit within reason according to law!  So, being able to find record of approximately when they died, but not where both the owner, or his wife were laid to rest, I began to grow more curious into this whole thing!

And now were getting to the good part!  Oddly enough, I honestly have two concrete casings in my root seller.  One is 5' x 3', and directly across is another 6' x 3'!  I used to kid around a bit hat those were the tombs of the owners, until one day while the City was doing some road work, and vibrated the ground enough to cause a cracked piece of concrete to fall off of one, and sure enough, their is a wooden structure behind the concrete encasement!  I called the City out to get their take on this one, and was told that since records indicate that they have most likely been their for approximately 90 years, that unless we wanted to pay to have them removed, and proper burial, that they could do little more on the situation!  So, we now have one of the only houses I know of in our area that was never owned by any criminal types, but has two dead bodies in the basement! :-D

And yup!  both my wife, and I have both seen a very clear apparition of a woman only in the dark that kind of gives off a faint glow, wearing a  white flowing nightgown appearing through the seller door, and walks to the rest room, before vanishing into thin air!  Doesn't seem to see, or hear anything, or know anyone is their.  My guess is kind of like a human fingerprint in time played out over, and over.  It usually happens in spurts where sometimes it might happen a couple of nights in a row, and then nothing for months!  The only other thing that is beyond me is that any time we do anything to the house, from minor restoration, projects, to even repainting the walls, all of the lights in the house will flicker continuously for about a month, blowing all of the light bulbs! even if they are all new!  And  this happens every time, regardless of having fully replaced, and updated all of the wiring to insulated 3 wire romax, and updating the old 70 amp panal, to a brand new 250 amp panal, and then after blowing all of the light bulbs the day after, we had the contractor go through the entire system from top to bottom with no explanation!  We replace all of the bulbs again this time using the 2 year guaranteed ones, and the next day, all blew again!

I would have never believed it till I had seen it first hand, but rather than fear them, they have done no harm to us, other than maybe protest our choice in paint colors, and having contractors making a bunch of noise, to which I can kinda understand!  I wouldn't want someone doing major construction above my eternal resting place either!  So, like I started to say before getting sidetracked, instead of fearing them, we see them more as kinda like guardians looking over us, which is cool with me!  I need a few more of those on my side anyhow!

So just for what its worth, thats my all true, and verified Haunted House Story!

Take it easy!

I think this will be an interesting topic of discussion.I look forward to hearing more stories.I only wish there was hard empirical data to support the claims, obviously videotape or solid communication would be the best(not evp) but i would even be more interested is learning the science behind any of the investigations. What can scientists actually do to collect data on this phenomena?Obviously this isnt Hollywood or the "Entity" where an attempt at isolating an actual spirit was attempted(great movie for any who hasnt seen it,still holds up today against any ghost movie in my opinion)Have a nice weelend all.Carter

Just thought I'd share my "ghost" story. Shortly after we bought our house my husband decided to completely remodel the upper story; it's a 1 1/2 story bungalow. He came upon a handful of marbles in one of the walls. I took them for myself and put them in a small vase. Right after that we all started getting the feeling that something was watching us whenever we went upstairs and we all got the same impression- that it was a young boy, although none of us had actually seen him. Once when my husband was working upstairs, the little boy poked him really hard on the back. I decided to put the marbles back where they were found and my husband dry walled them up. After that none of us really got any bad feelings when we went upstairs, although once and awhile we do "feel" him and every now and then we find marbles laying around.

Our house was built in 1927. I've often thought about researching the history of the house to see if a little boy died here, but I never have. The people that owned the house before us didn't have any children. I do know that somewhere along the line there must have been a fire in the house; the timber in the rafters is black and charred.

I recently had another experience in my house

I woke up to a creaking sound I have heard before, there is a spot in the living room in front of the tv, if you stand there the floor it will buckle a little and creak

Well I heard this familiar sound around 130am and everyone was asleep, I thought some perp might have broken in and went in there with my Taurus PT-92 AF 9 mm

Nothing there...I went into the kitchen and it was freezing cold...no windows were open, all the upper cabinets in the kitchen were wide open, after I closed them all I went back into the bedroom and when I turned the light off I heard something above me, when I clicked the light on from my bed the ceiling fans was spinning real fast, faster than when it worked, yes it has not worked in quite some time now......twilight zone music echoing in background

Our house is not that old

When I moved in it was only 2-4 years old when I bought it, and I have lived in it for 10 years now

It happens every once in a while, I think it just wants to let us know it is around

Even the kids have heard and seen things but they are not scared, they say they feel it just wants attention

I wouldn't be surprised if my house is haunted.
Though we're right in the middle of town now, there used to be nothing out here by fields and train tracks. This house is the oldest house in the area, and there's a reason for that.
It was a brothel for all the railway workers and millworkers to come and "relax" after work. Now, this might not be too weird, except for one thing: It was owned by the Ku Klux Klan. Because of the sway they used to hold here (Oregon was pretty much run by Confederate sympathisers during the Civil War) they could have shut it down instantly, so they took advantage of that and taxed it.
During the time this house was a brothel, numerous murders were committed here and in the surrounding area. The motivations were varied...Some of the murders were just psycho pervs killing the whores, some were racially motivated and executed by the KKK, and some were criminal in nature (not paying back debts, etc.)
Some weird stuff goes on in my house, and though most of the strange things can be explained away easily if looked at as solitary incidents,, the massive number of bizarre experiences I, and my family, have had here is just too high to be entirely coincidental.

The house I grew up in was built by my parents and was also one of the first in the area. Legend has it that the area was once an Indian burial ground, although I don't know how true that is. As far as I know, no artifacts or anything were ever found, and it would be awfully disrespectful to build homes on sacred ground. There was a park in back of my house, and I can say that I have heard and felt weird stuff there, and once I saw some kind of ghost/spirit. I was with a friend at the time and she also saw it.

I live in Thailand and find that the thai people as a general rule very much believe in the presense of ghosts. At my apartment my girlfriend does not like to stay alone for fear of ghosts and is convinced that any creaking noise is a spirit in the house. Are there any specifics trademarks that a spirit is in your house?

Well, just before we got married, the wife and I moved to a new location. This one is another old farmhouse on about two acres of yard, surrounded by forest and farmland.

When we moved here, the entire area was positively crawling with spirit activity! Unfortunately, due to the nature of my individual abilities and energies, I drove off or outright destroyed practically all of it. However, of late, things have been returning. We now have a regular Shadow who visits our yard, and there are orbs around our home at night again. At one point an entity even tried to gain a foothold here. It got a bit too insistent, and was sent packing quickly.

So now I look forward to seeing what comes around.

My elementry school was built in the twentys or thirtys. It was originaly a private school for the military base kids. We always had strange things going on. Lights would go out, fire alarms would go off, the lockdown bell would sound, doors that were open two seconds ago would be locked. The fishtank even burst once. Mostly it happend after school. One of the teachers there was my mom's friend and she would talk about how after hours she would hear someone slaming doors and lightbulbs exploding for no reson. The school is closed now, but only because they built a new one.

But in my town, espacaily on the base, it isn't very hard to find haunted houses. Or so I'm told. But it wouldn't suprise me. We have people posted from all over Canada and they all stay in the duplexes for the most part (those are what we call the houses on base).

I just saw somewhere that when people are asked anything regarding the supernatural, the most thing that is commonly believed in, is in the haunted house.

I'm going to move into a new home when my boyf and i get married. how will i know wheter it's haunted or not before we move in?
