Dakota Fanning, who confirmed that she's in talks about playing a vampire in the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon, told reporters that she's eager to tackle a role so at odds with her previous parts: i.e., someone evil.

"I hope that it does work out," Fanning said in a group interview on Friday in Los Angeles, where she was promoting Coraline. "It's not 100 percent for sure. I can't say it's for sure yet. It would be really cool if it does work out. I'm a big fan."

Fanning would play the role of Jane, one of the aristocratic Volturi vampires from Italy, who has a twin brother named Alec. "I think it would be really cool to be something different than I've ever been before," she said. "I mean, a vampire, it's really neat. The character I would be playing is kind of evil and mean, so it would be a fun opportunity."

The contracts aren't inked just yet, but Fanning again confirmed that they are continuing to talk about the project.

For now, Fanning is reading the books and getting to know her character. She laughs when asks whether she's practicing her vampire faces in front of mirror yet. "I haven't read all of them yet, but I'm getting there," she said. "It's such a cool series, and I'm a big fan of the cast. It would be really cool to be a part of." New Moon is slated to begin filming in the next few weeks for a Nov. 20 release.

I prefer the books over the movies b/c I can more enjoyment out of it, and the books have more details, such as jacob and the werewolves in the 2nd book.
Insanity is a fun state of mind. I can amuse myself and have my friends wanting to get me a straight jacket and a padded room.
