Is there any legends in any of your areas about cryptids or beasts lurking around?

Where I grew up there was one. It was about a white creature who walked upright like a man, but had the head of a panther, some people called it the wampus cat. I know of about 15 people who swear they have seen it.

anyone else?

Being Southern/Central Florida we have Skunk Ape, giant gators, giant snakes, coyotes, etc.

Ryobi

Have enough giant spiders, poisonous snakes, wild dogs and crocs to deal with here
When I hear somebody sigh, "Life is hard," I am always tempted to ask, "Compared to what?"

Grendelion

Back where I grew up we had something called the Pope Lick Tress Monster.  Another variation on the goatman myth.

To act human is to give meaning to something meaningless.

Sanity is a matter of perception.

We don't have any local legends around here. Just your garden variety critters.
