Does anybody else have any  :-o phobias, or even better, unusual phobias?

I have a mild arachnaphobia... But I also have a healthy dose of coulrophobia... Not to the point of paralysing fear or anything like that, they just give me the creeps, seriously jittery. I can't stand to see one. Oh, and coulrophobia is a fear of?

Deep water, anything like 14+ feet gets me all scared. :(

Interesting topic, indeed.
I meet both of yours. The second is not a real phobia, just hate at first sight. Find clowns scary as I used to think of Robert Smith of The Cure. He's always reminded me of a clown as scary as can be.
I can't stand the sight of spiders or spiderwebs. Not mild at all. They freeze me.
Others phobias include:
- Catoptrophobia
- phobia of losing control. I'm a control freak.

I've got others, but they're too private so I'm not sharing.

DV,

I forgot about that!  I had a Drill SGT that said he hated clowns.  Anytime he'd catch you smiling he'd make a statment to the effect that "Why you smilin'?!? Do you think I'm a clown!?!  ASSUME THE POSITION!!!"

I don't have a paralyzing fear of anything.  I'm not a fan of spiders in the least and will go out of my way to squash them.  I don't mind heights if I have something to hold on to.  I guess my biggest fear (not necessarily phobia) is failing.  Especially at home or at work.  Playing sports and stuff are no big deal, I guess it is stuff that I deem extremely relavent.  I've actually gotten physically sick from failing (or at least my preception of failing).

Your attitude is the only thing they can't take from you.

I'm not over-keen on heights or falling (I have a lot of those falling nightmares...) but paratroop training proved that you can overcome fears and phobias  :|

Clowns... I made sure that they appear in monstropedia!

And the Santa Claus article isn't far behind... :-o

I'm placed in the 4th catagorazation in aquaphobia. "Other" (I just don't like how deep and dark it is... Don't know what could be lurking down in there...)

Posting our fears online? Smart Idea?

Im affraid of the dark, I dont know what phobia that is if it even is one.

"Nyctophobia", Phantom. It would appear to have its roots in our inbuilt defence system (like fear of snakes, spiders, heights etc) - as humans are not nocturnal by nature, an extra air of caution after dark would be expected. Nyctophobia, of course, like an allergic reaction,  produces symptoms beyond the normal instinctive parameters.

Huh?  No IT?  I'm not exactly afraid of clowns, I just don't like them.

My old and current phobias:

Lyssophobia
Paraskavedekatriaphobia-I always used to fall down a staircase so I became afraid.  I've gotten over that.
Fear of falling.  Not heights, just insecure heights.

Never mind, DV beat me to it.

What DV said + the whole demon, shadow, and all them other bad ass creatures that love to annoy me when Im sleeping.

A friend of my can not stand clowns in the worst way

He says they are evil

Me I am OK with most things except snakes, why ? years ago, I was bitten by a diamondback rattlesnake from then on ou.....t Eeekkk!!!!

Drove to the hospital got the anti venom that was it, when I was younger they did not bother me, now if I see one... ...watch out
What do you want, you moon-faced assassin of joy?

We walk in the dark places no others will enter. We stand on the bridge and no-one may pass. We live for the One, we die for the One

I remember reading a camp fire story book about a kid said if you see a clown without its' make up on you die. :-P

I'm not helping am I?

Im not sure if this is a phobia or a paranoia but im afriad of the cars that are going by me and the street while im walking, i think they are going to jump out of there car with a gun or something and try to kill me.  I also have a fear of being watched.  I have no idea where Igot these fears from and know my father had Schizo, which is where you hear voices and are afraid of being watched, yes?
All light sources cannot last forever the way darkness can.

"Amaxophobia" (cars) and social phobia.

Interesting. Fear of cars is quite an unusual - though it does exist - phobia; this is because it is generally believed that we - as a species - haven't had sufficient time to develop such an anxiety. But it exists, which just goes to show what I always believed: "Research has shown that scientists don't have all the answers!"

:-D

The fear of being hit by cars is an entirely different matter...I call that common sense!
