Title: werewolf? goth subgroup.
Post by: luminar on July 18, 2007, 06:34:02 AM
i havent started anything yet but hopefully through the forums i can start a new gothic subgroup. i have noticed that the more traditional goth is more concerned with vampires and the sadness and rejection from society. not to say anything bad about this at all because there is nothing wrong with it. the new subgroup would be based more on werewolves and anger and really kind of a combination of goths/jocks/and greasers maybe. some of you may think, blasphemy! but whatever. it would still retain alot of the aspects of normal goths with the added jock/greaser/tough guy attitude. and its not limitied to guys girls to. anyway hopefully i can inspire some people to associate themselves with this new subgroup. now i have to come up with a name. darnit.

Sounds like a good idea, so long as no one goes around wearing leopard print underwear outside their pants.

Cosplay and furries come to mind here....

I wouldn't call it Goth.

I like this idea, Demona. it fits me and my friends quite well, actually.
I do like the focus and the rough and gritty aspect, like a werewolf, rather than the vamp-like isolation and sadness. Especially concerning the jock thing, because it would be cool to see the average jock/preppy style clothing utilized in a dark manner. It's not something you see every day.
You want help coming up with a name?
I like Grawth. Gritty, growly, goth.

Being a traditional goth myself, I kinda like your idea too since most my male friends fits perfectly in the sub category. Weregoth I'd call it. The subgroup of the subculture, like emo-goths and punk-goths and my friends who is all confused with his identiy so I asked him playfully once: "Ronnie are you a emo-goth-punk? Or a emo-punk-goth? Maybe a punk-emo-goth? Goth-emo-punk? Or punk-goth-emo?" We'd laugh our butts off with that, but people can really start catchin up with the gothwolf idea.

I think that you confused goth with emo... no need for weregoth subgroup, goth is goth, no matter who lives it....

Hang on people, goths are not ALL about sadness and sorrow, around the world there are those depressed goths or not, it's possibly to be a cheerful goth YES I'm serious there is such a thing as a happy goth, they stick out like a sore thumb but they exist.  :banplea: But it's mainly based on darkness and nocturne interest... and sometimes death, emos are just... emotional teens who can't deal with their feelings maturely. Stereotypes have been a big argument ever since they've emerged from the '80 or whatever, but one doesn't see that cutting themselves make them goth or emo, nor wearing black because they already jump to the conclusion "Oh s/he's goth" or "Look it's an emo". It is something you're naturally are, not something you just decide to be overnight. Besides Goth is all together a lifestyle, it came WAY before this "emo" movement appeared and my theory is that this "emo" group is a little tiny bit of goth modified to fit the teens taste.

All in all, goth and emo is very different apart because goth is entirely a subculture/lifestyle. Emo is a movement for teens which doesn't exactly have a lifestyle and after time they actually grow out of it, and I still didn't mention that what was supposed to be a style adopted by friendless/anti-social/angst outcasts teens had now become mainstream. Goths NEVER is mainstream.

^ thank you for clarifying the differences. And I'mnot being a smartass just so you know. Sounds like you might be an al originale goth eh? one of us old schoolers  I am and yes I remember when the word 'emo' didn't even exist. And you're right its  more about hw you think and feel and live than any stereotype

yeah i know all about the "perky goths" and all that and i also realise the difference between goth and emo and even punk. its just that most goths tend to be depressed and the goths that are described as angry are usually better described as punk. but anyway yeah i think now im probably just going to draw inspiration from wherever it comes like a bruce lee philosophy.
