Hello anyone?! I'm new here but it seems to be kinda quiet... Did the monsters finally break through? Is there anyone left? *Echoes*

*Shines flashlight about*

*Rummages through the shadowy, desolate ruins but finds nothing*

*Starts to panic*

Hello? Any monsters here? *Echoes*

grimweird

Wow... Real friendly folks here... Lots of views but 0 replies.

Geez.... I was kinda suspecting a board full of lurkers.

Good I wasn't disappointed I suppose.

See you around lurkers... or not...

Whatever

The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing the world that he did not exist." - Charles Baudelaire (French and monstrous poet).

Ah... Finally. I had pretty much given up on the folks here...

So, HI there. Glad to be here, looking forward to contributing to this board and learning more about you fine folks.

Although, seriously, I'm sorta getting the impression that there's not much activity here? Why is that?

Finrod852

I've been starting to notice that too. I guess people are really busy.
Mr. Demille, I'm ready for my close-up!

grimweird

Yeah I guess.

A shame really, maybe we joined the board in its twilight  :-( and people are losing interest and moving on with their lives.

Well, I sure hope things will pick up.

So where are you folks from? I'm from the exotic and mysterious far east

Over here, the supernatural is still very much part of every day life, for good or ill...

Finrod852

I'm from the incredibly hot city of Houston, Texas, where the supernatural basically lives underground.

grimweird

Houston? Wow... Like in "Houston, we have a problem..." :) Sorry man, but I would've thought that there wouldn't be much supernatural goings on there. Do many people in the US believe in vampires, shape-shifters and demons? Over here many of us do, but it's sort of ingrained in our lives and culture so we've sort of learned to live with it more or less, we just take the necessary precautions and hope for the best.

For example the Chinese community here have just observed the "Hungry Ghost Festival" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungry_Ghost_Festival Traditionally this is the time of year when a "gateway" is opened to the afterlife and spirits are allowed to roam free from sundown to sunrise to visit their families and relatives and basically "see how they're doing." Unfortunately, not all of the spirits released from the netherworld are benign. So folks tend to go out at night less and stay indoors when it gets dark. I would assume that this is similar to the Halloween tradition in the States?

Finrod852

Yes and no. There are only few people here who believe. Most of the time it's only expressed through the Halloween tradition. Are you a supernatural being yourself?
Mr. Demille, I'm ready for my close-up!

grimweird

Err... Nope... Once, I believed I was a slinky though...

Then the fever broke and I got better

Seriously though, many folks over here believe that normal people who believe too much that they are something that they're not, will only invite trouble, both mundane and otherwise. So unless we really are something like a witch doctor or a fox demon, we normally don't say that we are, at the very least it'll save us a trip to the local government psych ward (not a good place to be, judging by the constant screaming). At the very worst, it'll save us from offending things which should not be offended.

Umm... You're not one of those folks are you? I don't wanna judge anyone, but it seems to me that such things are not very safe or healthy.

Well, I am psychic. Not clairvoiant, but I am empathic, able to sense and absorb other people's emotions. It's perfect for helping to counsel people and to give them peace of mind. Slinky huh? That must have been some fever. :) You might find this site to be quite colorful though. You'll find that this forum is filled with "those folks." I'm just saying.

grimweird

Empathic? Like you can read other people's dispositions? Really? That sounds kinda cool I guess... But won't studying body language and mannerisms from a similar culture reveal almost as much?

We have people like that over here 90% of them are quacks though. Some of them however really have a gift, the last one I met described in detail the layout of my garden. And I'm talking EXACT descriptions. And told me to remove some items which were apparently messing with my "chi" flow. He did the same thing with my girlfriend's garden and my cousin's living room.

So yeah... GTG dude, it's past 5 in the morning here and I gotta get some shuteye. Be back much later :)

Finrod852

Oh yeah, I forgot about the time difference over there. Lila Tov, good night in Hebrew.
