Title: has anyone heard anything about this.......
Post by: BLOODNHONOUR on November 12, 2011, 04:26:13 PM
just curious as to whther anyone else has experianced this at one time or another.....i was over at a friends house not long ago when the paranormal topic came up and a few things were brought up , but one thing in general seemed to catch my attention....and before i go into detail, id like to point out that no, it is not a clock or some form of battery powered object runnin out, or waterpipes in walls or the like. i have heard this quiet frequently through out my life, at different houses, alone, and with others. my friend brought up the subject of a ticking noise that can be heard coming from inside walls, closets, etc, that when investigated or upon the persons desicion to go and investigate, either dull down to the point they are nearly inaudiable, and completly stop (most of the time) once you are in the area which comes from. it seems to be when you are on the edge of drifting off to sleep mostly, but have heard it at other times to. its not frequent enough to be temp change in pipes ( which the house im at now, where it happens, has no piping in that wall what so ever,), or a object that flat batterys have kicked into life, , and what gets me is upon investigation, it stops, as if mocking you or taunting. my partner has heard this also, quite recently when we were both in bed nearly asleep, i could hear it inbetween the ticks of the living room clock, i closed the bedroom door, and we could both hear it in one corner of the room, . all draws and the like were examined, building plans for pipes, and no chance of animals bein in walls, i never really thought to much about it until my friend bought it up , i had never talked to this person about this beforte so it was them bringin it up not me, and the said they had similar problems and her grandmother had told her it was to do with spirits. could anyone clarafy this for me??????my friends house seems to have alot of other disturbing things going on that co-inside with this ticking soundalso

I did some research on the ticking sounds. Seems a lot of people around the world hear the same thing, and no one so far figured it out. But one thing they all agree to, its of a spirit, or ghost origin. You say you have been hearing this sound through out your life. Now, this is what i find interesting. Did you have any other experience similar to this before? Also, if the ghost keeps following you, there has to be a reason for it. Doesnt have to be bad (negative), but to figure out why it would do so, we need more info on your history. Im sure that you know what sort of things would be of importance, and if you dont feel like sharing publicly, feel free to IM me. I got your pm about bruises, and Ill post a topic about those as soon as i finish my articles.

I see you live in New Zealand. There is one possibility that should be considered and ruled out, which is a common insect species found in many countries including NZ: Elateridae - the "click beetle."

The top one is a large example (the North American Alaus oculatus); the second one is also from the USA, a bioluminescent Pyrophorus. There are around 965 types in the USA alone, and roughly 9300 worldwide. They're generally not considered pests as although they will enter houses/wall spaces/ventilation blocks etc they do not cause damage. The most common type found in New Zealand is much smaller (around 12mm) and very plain looking (http://www.landcareresearch.co.nz/research/biosystematics/invertebrates/invertid/images/Conoderus%20exsul1.jpg). You'll know its larva (which is considered a pest) from the garden as the common "wireworm" - the sort that eats your potatoes and vegetables in the soil. They use the click mechanism to cover long distances and gaps, as well as when trapped, and during mating you can get a cluster of these climbing all over each other and clicking away very rhythmically. A lot like a clock.

Not saying that this is the cause of your unexplained ticking, but it should be ruled out as a possibility.
