Gojira54:
The idea of Godzilla originated in march of 1954 when a young Japanese movie executive was on his way back from to Japan from an unsuccessful trip as he had not been able to secure visas for some actors for a movie. On his flight back on the plane he picked up his newspaper and started to read. The headline said JAPANS 2nd ATOMIC BOMBING or something to that effect the article said that the USA had tested an H-Bomb at Bikini Island and had asked all ships to stay away while the tests were being conducted. Anyway the paper said that a Japanese fishing boat called the LuckyDragon had been struck by the blast. Both the USA and Japan blamed each other for the incedent and the crew of the boat had been nuked and an SOS had been called for rescue boats. The executive put down his paper and started writing words DRAGON   H-BOMB   BOAT   ATOMIC BLAST. When his plane landed in Tokyo he went to the movie studio he worked for TOHO Studios. He pitched an idea of a movie about a giant radioactive monster that attacks Tokyo the studio heads liked the idea. An idea for a giant Octopus attacking Tokyo was given  but seen that Dinosaur movies were popular at the time an idea for a large mutated radioactive Dinosaur was chosen. The Dinosuar was later named Gojira a.k.a. Godzilla. The executive who pitched the idea became the producer of the movie his name was Tomoyuki Tanaka. Tanaka had Ishiro Honda direct and Eiji Tsuburaya for special effects and Akira Ifukube compose music for the movie. The movie itself had been based on a real life incedent that took place at Bikini Island. Godzilla was a monster that represented all the horror of the H-Bomb. When the movie was almost complete the monster had not yet ben given a name and a studio employee who was pretty big for a Jap a Mr Gojira   is who the monster was named after. The name Gojira itself is the combintation of 2 words the word Gorira and the word Kujira Gorira means Gorilla and Kijira means Whale the 2 words together are Gojira. Producer Tanaka told the press  the monster was named Gojira because it was as strong as a Gorilla and as big as a Whale the press ate up the story and loved it. The movie Gojira/Godzilla opened a few months later on november 3rd 1954. The movie became an international success and Tanaka produced 21 more Godzilla movies 22 in all up til his death in 1996. The last Godzilla movie Tanaka made was Godzilla vs. Destroyer 1995. The Godzilla series was resurected in 1999 and the last Godzilla movie was Godzilla Final Wars in 2004 the 50th Anniversary Godzilla movie and the 28th godzilla movie.[/b]
