PARANORMAL detectives are preparing to tackle ghostly goings-on in an East Lothian family's home.

The family, who do not want to be named, have enlisted the ghostbusters to find out exactly why their Musselburgh home is so spooky.

Experts are trailing a mysterious blood-soaked man, a devil-like figure and a troubled child from Victorian times, who roam its corridors. The ghosts pre-date the home, which was built in the last century but which has used parts of an older building dating back 300 years.

It been the scene of numerous unexplained events since the family moved in. Now investigators will scour the house for clues and try to learn why it has been the scene of such disturbing paranormal activity.

The squad will "douse" the area to find energy lines using simple metal rods which react to energy flows.

Ron Halliday, a paranormal investigator for over 20 years, said the historic house ranks alongside the most haunted in British history.

He said: "The intensity of these experiences is way beyond most stuff we've seen or heard of in the past."

Numerous bumps in the night have shocked the family, who have lived in the house for 15 years.

They claim a terrifying figure has appeared around the home several times, leaving a grisly trail of blood behind whenever he appears.

They say a table also floated six inches above the ground when they conducted a seance in a desperate attempt to find reasons for the haunting. A photo of a Victorian girl and her doll also appeared from nowhere and was left on their floor.

they opened the door by holding a seance and ghosthunters will not be able to rid them of all their problems. The blood soaked man sounds kind of familar. I have spent much time in england, scotland and ireland .
We are the warriors of Light forging into the darkness.
