How do you interpret the end of the movie ?

Donnie kills the rabbit, the rabbit goes back in the past to warn Donnie but his girlfriend get killed ....
and in the end, the reactor that fall from the future plane and kill Donnie in the past ....

Seems like a David Lynch movie to me.
