Title: Resident Evil
Post by: prezhorusin04 on June 18, 2006, 02:41:56 PM
Any Resident Evil gaming fans?

I don't play a lot of video games, but part 4 is probably my favorite game of all time.. Always liked the Resident Evil series.....

I tried once...had a bad experience in Nemesis.  It was only in the beginning and I had already run out of bullets and had no melee weapon...I kept running from the zombies and found a door thinking I was saved...but it was locked.  I just kept tackling to get away but they just kept comming!

And then there was Nemesis himself, he just wouldn't die!

But I do read the scripts and plot summaries every now and then.  It's extremely complicated but somewhat enjoyable.

Does anyone around here play the Mercanaries Minigame on RE4? To me, thats better than the actual game and much more challenging. My friends and i take turns playing it and it hasnt really gotten old yet, my best score is 152,000...120 successive kills

I beg to differ. Silent Hill is one of the best survival horror games out there and it's only available on the PS2 (well, with the exception of the first game; that was PS1.) I'd much rather play that than have to go with something Gamecube, like...Mario Cart, for instance.

Game Cube is the s**t. Not only does it have the classic characters that kick ass, its throws in a few other awesome games. It also has a simple controler that anyone can use, unlike PS2.

Yeah, i've unlocked all those characters, and your right, it's as enjoyable as the game itself, or moreso because it only takes 10 minutes tops to get through. Easy to play a quick match of zombie destruction. Excuse me, "ganados" destruction.

Gamecube is about the only real system i've ever owned, it's always been Nintendo based for me.. That new Nintendo "WI" looks kinda silly though. The controllers are two separate controllers that you hold in both hands and it just looks really uncomfortable to play. I won't be getting one, even though RE5 will be on that system.. It's going to be like $200+ dollars, and that's ridiculous, especially when i only want it for one game...

RE4 is about the only game i play when i actually feel like playing a video game.. There are plenty of other enjoyable games out there for GameCube though.. I've always liked the Resident Evil series.. <^>

That new system is ridiculous. I think they know that they can come out with anything, so long as  the Nintendo name is attached, and all the nerds will flock to it with their wallets open. Thats one Nintendo system I WONT be buying.

Im also surprised to hear that you havent owned a N64. That is, by far, the best game system with the best games.

Oh, i had a N64, but it's been in the closet for a few years now.. I used to play that some too.. I beat a couple Resident Evil games on that system as well.. :-P

Yeah, that 'WI' just doesn't look appealing.. And what a goofy name.. Wiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!

N64 will never die, no matter how the gaming world advances. I believe that was the last system to play without CDs.

I've never had any problems playing with a PS2 controller. If anything, having a Z trigger that I have to reach under the controller for (granted, I'm talking about the N64, since I've never actually held a Cube control, but I assume it's similar) is more difficult for me.

Thats what happens when the Japanese makes something, a really waked out name... How the heck do you play with it though?!

The words in WI stand for

W-What the hell were they thinking when they named it WI
I-I don't know...

The PS3 is supposed to be in the area of $600 for market price, which is twice what the PS2 retail was when it was first released. For that price, it had not only better be backwards-compatible, it had better play XBox discs as well...  :x

I just like capping some undead :gun:....it helps me get through my workday... The Wii does look a little goofy, but im kinda interested in the motion sensitive controller....but im only wondering how long that novelty w/ last.

Has anyone gotten the chance to play DeadRising for the xbox 360? It looks pretty sweet.

I prefer the PS2 because its' online play is free, more selections in game genres, and their controler isn't HUGE like the X-Box's.

I want it to make me a toasted sandwich too, for those games that I just can't drag myself away from to carry out less important tasks. Like eating.

In which case, they'll need to include a servo arm which holds the sandwich and periodically holds it up to the mouth for a bite...don't want to get the controller all greasy.

Funny thing is, more and more games are seeing to the needs of the addicted. Civilization IV includes helpful reminders to take time for essentials like eating and sleeping, both in the manual and on loading screens. I've heard that some of the new MMOs have alarms you can set to remind you of things like meals, or to go off so you can think "Wow, I've got to be at work in four hours...maybe I should get some sleep."

Thanks, I hadn't. Just out of curiosity, why is it titled "Biohazard 5," and who is that guy? He doesn't look like any of the previous RE cast I remember.

In Japan, where it is developed, its name is バイオハザード5, or "Biohazard 5". The entire game series over there is Biohazard. It would have kept the same title in the West, but there was a minor legal thing because of the name being registered already by the NY band Biohazard. They are hoping to release it on both XBox360 and PS3 simultaneously, and in time for the PS3 launch, so expect it around November/December (hey! they gotta hit that Christmas market!)

They're keeping very tight-lipped about the storyline, but it would appear that the main character (and the guy in the trailer) is Chris Redfield, and the action will take place in a "desert" environment.

Ah, I see. Pity, because between the two, the game is much more enjoyable than the band...

That's Chris Redfield? Hmm. The outfit is the same, but he's looking a lot more rugged than he was in RE4. I wonder if they're going to go Metal Gear with this title, and have the characters age and change with each new incarnation of the game?

sounds like you would be better off getting RE 5 on the Xbox, but you could play Dead Rising in the mean time (if you already have access to a 360 that is...)

$800?? That's ridiculous! Over here in the states itll be $600 for the 60 gig hard drive PS3...if i happen to get one, they had better not go the way of the Sega Saturn, else i w/ be pissed! :x

This kinda went off topic hah, N64 was the shiz tho ... but im a PS boy myself :) I hated Resident evil 4 and 5 worst...RE...ever.

The first one was honestly one of the scariest games of its time tbh.. and my friend had a burnt copy and it doesn't work properly with the PS2 that she has ...so basically you start the game and you can't move or do ANYTHING! except mabye...watch the zombies munch on you ...

Silent hill went downhill quickly aswell 1 and 2 were probably the ONLY good ones, they were just...creepy

LIES!

First off, Resident evil 4 was cool, it was a departure from the past shuffling zombie who couldn't catch a cold!

OR did you really expect to fight off an angry mob and an disproportionally tough chainsaw wielding spaniard AND HIS CRAZY AFRICAN BEARFOOT NuTJOB, With a lame ass control system that would have you dodging with no useful melee? Hell that guy could possibly kill a tyrant.
The Las Plagas parasite was a welcome change to the usual H-G Virus infections, OR Did you really think that umbrella would use the same method over and over? At least the las plagas allowed the infected to pass for human..... Until it burst out of your head anyway.

The suit case also taught you how to save space.

At least in 4 and 5 the special police/CIA CqC training gets used.

5 was  a bit too short and the inventory controls were like suicidal.

yeah, ok its a nice change...but its just my opinion that it wasn't my kind of resident evil...it was refreshing to have something new....but the slow dull zombies were fun..along with lickers... and nemesis... and dogs...it was scary...the 5th one was boring, short and well ...easy once you got infinite ammo on the shotty and machine gun

Sure, but remember what happens to games that bring more of the same? There were/are so many games that have such similar control schemes today that RE would have become redundant. And though the game has always been about racoon city and the STARS. The world is so much larger than that.

Hell they even released RE Outbreak for more of the same+ multiplayer.

*sigh* Still, The most painful RE memory i  have was when i emptied my shotgun, magnum and a few grenades into nemisis only to get a purple tentacle skull-farking me seconds later.

I was only on meeting no 1or 3...... i more than made up for it the next new game when i decided that hoarding was a good thing.
(to be fair i think i missed most of those shots. but i was shooting off screen)

Shuffling only works in times of no fire power. Its an experiment in empowerment against the mob. on the first one, you were useless. And the combat knife was lame. Now you have a machete.

The targets flinch, they bleed and they cry out. slowly you start to wonder "has anything really changed?" The bigger picture is still shrouded, and you can only hope you don't hear Those heavy bootsteps, that thick tired moan again.
(jilly's gotta have gotten nightmares)

lol skull-farked ...yeah nemesis was scary :P and i completely agree.. i didn't like RE5 as much now that i think of it..having infinite sniper ammo and finding all these spots where you could snipe the guys that control the sun ray things...on the Ancient Ruins lvl (RE5) it was well thought up but not very well layed out.

Looking forward to another in like 10years time lawl.

Getting off topic tho, Virtual reality ....your ideas on it :) enlighten me on your opinions
