Two-Three, or not Two-Three:
(That is the Question)

Who can deny the importance of numbers and mathematics in our culture? Even those among us who are not generally adept with advanced mathematic ability, can quickly understand the relevance of numbers in our daily lives. Usually this is involved with the world of money. Whether it be in waiting for our paycheck, balancing the bills, or purchasing items needed for living; simple methods of addition, subtraction, division and multiplication should be mandatory for people of average mental resources in the modern world. The word 'mathematics' is derived from the Greek máthēma, representing science

Others will use the territory of numbers and their meanings for the purpose of numerology, tarot, or other methods of seeking to read the specific ‘life paths’ of individuals or dates. Without a proper means of measurement we would have no elaborate buildings of massive design, for humans would not be able to calculate with proper precision and reliability the specific height and width required in creating monolithic structures. Nor even humble human domiciles and homes. Without measurement and mathematics it would have been very difficult to move beyond the living stage of teepees and simple shacks. Though to some, this might seem a more ideal environment in which to live. A time when humans were in touch with the natural world and our surroundings. Not confined in giant stone and wooden territorial gates that keep us from being more attuned with the forests and landscapes of our tribal origins.

Whatever we might associate with numbers, or however skilled we might be at utilizing them, their role in the building and stabilization of society is obviously clear. Equally as important as spoken and written language, a dialect all its own can be found in the form of mathematical equations and specific degrees of measurement. In his new book, researcher Gary Osborn ( ) presents his own theories and interpretation in crunching the numbers. In particular the relationship he has found with the degree of 23.5 in connection with grand objects such as the Great Pyramids of Giza, classical French artwork, as well as modern day street layouts erected around the United States. In his coming work ‘Axis of God’, Osborn will set forth to answer some of the perplexing questions regarding this enigmatic figure, and why it appears time and time again throughout our history.

Why the number 23.5? What about other numbers such as 3, 6, 9, 13, 33 and the rest? Aren’t they of importance as well? Of course all of these numbers, and more, have a significance in their symbolic usage. However for the purposes of this article we will examine the reoccurring role of 23.5 within the themes and ideals of ancient and modern man. And since we are dealing with this specific number, it seems only fitting that we establish 23 individual references in which the prevalence of this formula should be recognized:

1) The axis of the planet Earth is 23.5 degrees. As it is above, so below.

2) The 23rd element in our current periodic chart is Vanadium, symbolized by the letter V. It originated from Vanadis, the Scandinavian Goddess of Beauty, because the element has beautiful multi-colored chemical compounds.

3) In Roman numerals V is the number 5. 2+3= 5.

4) W is the 23rd letter of standard alphabet. Two points down, Three points up.

5) Half of W is V, Roman numeral for 5.

6) E is the 5th letter. Flip them around: 5=2, E=3 would be 23.

7) There are 23 letters in the Latin alphabet.

8 ) 2/3rds as a decimal is .666

9) 23+23+23=WWW.

10) July 23rd is the Sumerian and Egyptian New Years. (Dog-days of Summer begin).

11) Sirius, the Dog Star, rises according to the Gregorian Calendar every July 23rd.

12) Human beings have a set of 46 chromosomes, in two sets of 23. Half of which are passed off on to offspring.

13) Tarot  has 22 Major Arcana cards but the missing 23rd is considered outside the influence.

14) The days on which the signs of the Zodiac begin and end are the 22nd and 23rd of most months.

15) In astrology, the axis of the Earth (which currently points vaguely at Polaris) describes a circle in the heavens over a period of 23,000 years. Precision, as this motion is called, also accounts for talk of our entering the Age of Aquarius and a ‘Harmonic Convergence’.

16) The average lunar cycle is 28 (23+5) days.

17) There are 23 definitions in Book One of "Euclid's Elements."

18 ) The I Ching Hexagram 23 means “Break Apart”. Telegraphers use 23 as the code for ‘Break the Line’.

19) Jesus said: “Where 2 or 3 are gathered in my name, I am in the midst of them.”

20) Revelations of the New Testament has 22 sections, with the 22nd section consisting of 21 lines; implying a progression to 23, which is absent from the book.

21) The term meaning "Before Common Era", or more to the point, before the supposed birth of Christ. B, C, E are the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th letters of the alphabet.

22) The most frequent numbers in the Book of Revelations are 4 (the powerful beasts), 7(seven seals, seven churches, etc.), and 12 (12 apostles, etc.). 4+7+12=23.

23) 2/3rds of the Angels chose to stay with ‘God’ in heaven, while the other 1/3rd fell from grace.

Since we simply cannot stop here, it is necessary to continue in the line of thought regarding this mysterious number and the possibility of it’s true meaning. To many Christians, the most popular of the Lord’s prayers is Psalm 23, which begins: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want: He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside still waters: He restoreth my soul. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For Thou art with me”.

The mediaeval secret society known as the Knight Templars were arrested in France on Friday, October 13th in 1307 (10+13=23). Hence Friday the 13 being considered ‘unlucky’. The crucifixion of Christ is said to have taken place on Friday the 13th as well. The good Friday before the Easter resurrection. The Templars had 23 Grandmasters in its history, with Jacques de Molay being the 23rd and last of them; burned at the stake.

In more modern times, Adolf Hitler organized the National Socialist Congress on January 23rd. On November 23rd he began his takeover. Germany's constitution came into force on May 23rd, 1949 . May is the fifth month of the year and this is the sum of the digits of 23. May, the 5, is also the date for the beginning of the Beltane festival and official start of Spring.

23.63 degrees was the supposed location of the first moon landing, in the Sea of Tranquility. Second was 23.42 in Ocean of Storms. Notice the diametric polarity of these two landings.
In his ‘Cabalistic Dictionary’, Aleister Crowley refers to the number 23 as “Parting, removal, seperation, joy, a thread, and life..”

Chapter 23 of Crowley’s ‘Book of Lies’ consists of:
What man is at ease in his Inn?
Get out.
Wide is the world and cold.Get out.
Thou hast become an in-itiate.
Get out.
But thou canst not get out by the way thou camest in. The Way out is THE WAY.
Get out.
For OUT is Love and Wisdom and Power.
Get OUT.
If thou hast T already, first get UT.
Then get O.
And so at last get OUT.

THE LAW OF FIVES is another idea to be taken into consideration, as 5 is the addition of 2+3. The number five is the prime number of the Discordian movement. The Law of Fives is summarized on page 00016 of the Principia Discordia:

The Law of Fives is never wrong.

It is worth noting that the Law of Fives includes the word "Five" five times.

Like most of Discordianism, the Law of Fives appears on the surface to be either some sort of weird joke, or bizarre supernaturalism; but under this, it may help clarify the Discordian view of how the human mind works; Lord Omar is quoted later on the same page as having written, "I find the Law of Fives to be more and more manifest the harder I look.” Another main idea of Discordianism is that of the 'Sacred Chao', referred to as Sacred Chaos, or the Sacred Cow.

Classic conspiracy authors Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson (RAW) account the significance of the number 23 as it appeared with great synchronicity in the weird and multi-dimensional voyage of their ‘Illuminatus’ books. In fact, there might be something much deeper to this message of 23 than the paranoid induced theories of tin foil hat wearing kooks. As we will see, there appears to be a secret message, a secret knowledge, encoded in the number 23.5, among many other recognized in Kabbalistic teachings and numerology.

Let’s look at the Bavarian Order of the Illuminati, founded in 1776 by Jesuit trained Adam Weishaupt. There are many theories due to its founding in 1776 coinciding with the American signing of the Declaration of Independence, that Weishaupt and first President George Washington were in fact the same man. Whether they were indeed one in the same, or used as dopplegangers to each other, there are some very strange connections in regards to the 23 when comparing the life and death of these two individuals.

George Washington
Born: Feb 11th 1732
Death: Dec 14th 1799

Adam Weishaupt
Born: Feb 6th 1748
Death: Nov 18th 1811

Washington and Weishaupt were born 5 days, 16 years apart. They died 26 days, 12 years apart. If you add together 5+1+6+2+6+1+2 it again comes to the ‘magic’ number of 23. But this is just the beginning in an intricate web of deceptive metaphysics that makes up not only the history of the United States of America, but also takes us into the very core and foundation of the Secret Society and religious monument building.

For those interested with delving further into the relations of the 23 alignments, you can find more details at Gary Osborn’s website; in a fascinating excerpt from his latest book entitled REVELATIONS. It sheds light on the possible meanings of this prominent  and misunderstood number, detailing overlooked pieces of the puzzle which will be uncovered in his ‘Axis of God’ release, due in early 2007. Gary is also the co-author of underground best-selling‘The Shining Ones’, and ‘The Serpent Grail’.

Draw your own conclusions, but the evidence so far provided is just scratching the surface of this archeological dig of forgotten knowledge. For good or for ill, for freedom or for domination? That’s for you to decide. If you have other significant connections for the symbolism behind numbers, in particular information on the appearance of 23, please feel free to share them in this thread.

Some things cannot be ignored, and if you read with an open mind, I’m 2/3rds sure you’ll agree. Because two out of three ain’t bad......
