Less than 2 hours ago i looked at the moon. it was a brassy brownish in color. Any ideas?
It was waxing btw and its 10:50 pm right now. just asking for thoughts and/or intelligent explanations about said phenomenon .

You were seeing the reflection of the sun's rays projected on the moon that gave it it's "brassy" color. Neat huh? I saw aq beautiful orange-red moon last night :@0

It could also be the city lights, they give it a nice orange glow.

I was nowhere near a city at the time. so i'll go with choice A(drea Warfreak). <:smurf

Andrea was right the suns light hits the earths atmosphere and it bends the light as if going through a prism and makes the light hitting the moon change odd colors. like blood red. orange harvest moon and whatnot.

Wrong all around.
What you actually saw, Raz, was the moon through the haze of pollutants in the atmosphere. That night, somewhere west of you, there was a high degree of pollutants low in the atmosphere, most likely in China, Russia, or Indonesia. I'm sure if you'd gone out again later in the night, when the moon was higher, it would have been its normal color.
