Look closely, I see two eyes, a nose and a mouth.

Nice photo! Whenever I see these kind of things in photos my mind thinks of fairys! Ofcourse I know that it could just be the way the tree (or whatever it is in the photo) is...but then ofcourse it could be a fairy!
I defionatly believe in fairys! :-)
-
Wow! that's cool. and he's sort of funnyish. I believe in fairies!
-
I believe in faeries!! :-D :-D
-
That is a really good pic. It does look like it could be one of the Fey. As far as my own beliefs, seeing is believing!
-
I think it's just cool, even if it isn't one perchance. :-D
-
It's an awesome photo, even though I don't believe in faries.
-
I believe more in the fact that there are living beings out there that can't be explained by modern science or described by mere names than in actual faeries & elves.
-
Yes, then again if they ever exist or not I guess we'll never find out. *sign*
-
Maybe, who knows a couple centuries down the road? :?
-
If you're asking my opinion, I don't think so. :|
-
Why do you believe in some things, but are closed minded about others? Not trying to be insulting, just genuinely want to know. :-D
-
Well I can't believe in everything, right? There are just some things that I don't think exist, but if someone claims to have spotted something different they have my full support. 8-)
-
Lolz, "I do believe in faeries. I do. I do!" Peter Pan. :-D
-
Peter Pan is gay, there is not a single movie where he doesn't look like a girl. *says as if that's the end of the topic *<:)*
-
Lolz, he is actually played by a girl in the play, cuz they can't have children on stage. *<:)
-
Yes, I remember very well since I watched it when I was five...*shivers* Oh to endure such horror... :focus:
-
You saw the play? All I ever saw was the Walt Disney version. After this I think we should get :focus:
-
Petling, Peter is actually played by a girl because the acrobatic moves performed on the ropes need to be an adult & a woman's voice is closer to that of an adolescent boy than a grown man's. Children are allowed onstage, in professional theater the kids are usually part of a special union that regulates how often they can perform, how long they can rehearse, schooling, etc.
-
Really? Like I said, I unfortunately never got to see the play. :-D
-
But I did...*shudders again* So... childish.... oh the agony.... *<:)
-
Don't faeries have a less than friendly reputation by the way? I've heard a lot of grim stories about them, especially the Unseelie court.
-
I believe so. I think people like Disney tried to slap a happy face on them. In the original Peter Pan, just one example, Tinker Bell tries to kill Wendy. :-P
-
Yeah, the unabridged Peter Pan as it was written by J.M Barrie, actually had pretty sinister undertones. Mermaids that would strangle you to death if you came too close were another feature that Disney seems to have left out. It's almost disturbing that so many people tend to think of faeries as adorable little winged cherubs, when a lot of them were actually pretty fond of playing nasty and even fatal pranks on innocent, unsuspecting mortals.
-
Was it the faeries that stole babies? & left changelings as replacements? :?
-
Yep. The changeling would either be the offspring of the fairy itself, or it would be a stock, a wooden manikin closely resembling the human child that had been stolen.
-
Did that whole legend occur as an explanation for mentally disabled children? Or do you think faeries really do that? I mean, who would want to give up their own child? Or steal a human's child who'll just grow old on you & die? :?
-
The idea behind changelings was that it was a joke on humans. Faeries weren't seen as having the same emotions or morals as humans. So an inconcevable act for a human, such as giving up your own child, supposedly meant nothing to a faerie. The link to mental handicapped children is interesting & a really good possibility.
-
It makes sense now that you put it in that perspective. :-D
-
And it all goes back down to perspective. 8-)
-
Lolz, once again, yes it does. :-D
So are they really evil? Or just too different for us to fully comprehend? :?
-

I believe that while faeries don't have the same emotions - like Countness stated - they can't be ALL evil. I think there are as much of good and evil in faeries as in humans, but they probably like to play tricks a lot on people too.
-
If they indeed do exist, they would see us as lower life-forms existing on a level far below the one they occupy, in much the same way we would veiw chimpanzees or baboons I guess. Thus, the ideal of ethics would probably not apply when the fey deal with creatures they regard as being barely above mere beasts.
On a side note, I find it interesting that Petling mentioned the idea of changelings being no more than infants that were suffering from a congenital or behavioural disorder. According to Scandinavian legend, a promising way of recovering one's child from the fey was to mistreat or even slay the changeling that had been left in the place of a stolen infant. Little surprise then that when a few centuries ago, a certain woman in Sweden was brought before the courts for the crime of having cooked her child in an oven while it was still alive, she responded by claiming that she had merely been trying to recover her true child from the fey that had stolen it. Makes for interesting reading, dosen't it?
-
I totally agree Angel. I have encountered some very kind members of the Fey. Even they like to play pranks just not as mean, things like moving your keys & then putting them in the first place you looked after you've torn the house apart. If you are having a problem with them, try leaving gifts. Honey, wine, milk, anything sweet pretty much just a little outside or somewhere in the house just overnight. Or try planting flowers, bushes, trees, fruit that re favorites of fairies. Lists can be found all over the internet or if anyone wants one I can PM them one. They can be a wonderful addition to a home, you just have to understand & work with them.
-
Are faeries what constantly make all our socks disappear? Even when I safety pin them together in the wash they always disappear somewhere between drying & putting them away in the drawer. :|
-
"Teacher, the fairies ate my homework this morning."
-
Lolz, oh that was a funny one. :-D
But seriously, are they responsible? :|
-
Depends... it all goes down to perspective.... again. 8-)
-
Darnit!!! I wanna know where my socks are going!!! :-D
-
:spy:

LOL THAT IS FUNNY BUT HE DOES LOOK LIKE A GIRL WITH HIS TIGHT PANTS AND HIS RED CHEEKS

They aren't evil at all. Their motivations are completely alien to humans. Those Faeries that are considered evil are only considered such because they are particularly malicious to humans.
But how many people that stomp on bugs can be considered evil? I'm sure the cockroach thinks we're despicable, but we're higher beings, and it's just something we do.
-
Excellent point!!! I hate how humans automatically classify something they don't understand to be evil. Disgusting, if you ask me. :|

No, it's not really disgusting. Because if something intelligent feeds on humans, like an malicious faerie or vampire, it's easier for us to call it evil than deal with the fact that we're little more cattle to be eaten.
-
I believe in faeries!! :-D :-D
As do I. I have seen fairie rings before. I've even had them show up in my yard b4.
-
I used to get faerie rings in my old home. Everyone just told me it was nothing more than one giant fungi whose roots grow in a circle to sprout as many mushrooms as possible. Still never went near it though, didn't want to piss anything off.
Of course, weird thing is, my dog LOVED to eat those mushrooms. Makes me wonder if she was getting high. :?
-
LOL maybe.
-
There's no such thing as faeries.
*Tinkerbell dies* lol.
But, yeah, that could just be the shape of the wood. And it's more likely to be a woodland spirit, like a Dryad then a faery, if anythinh at all.
-
Fairies and nature spirits are the same thing.
-
I do believe in fairies, i just haven't seen one yet....... :-)
-
i so think fairies are real even though my boyfriend tells me im crazy lol but i have a question of my own who thinks you really can enter a fairy realm through a a circle of mushrooms?
-
Reckon you could bro but you'd need a lot more stuff than just the fae circle...
-
Latayana,
It is possible to enter the fae realm through a circle but it is very much advised AGAINST doing so. The rules don't apply over there, once you are in they can do pretty much whatever they want & you may not be able to get back out.
-
I think I believe in faeries... Not sure :| But if they're the same as nature spirits, then yeah, I do.
Never saw one, though
-
Faeries are real. You don't have to believe in them or not. Besides we are just humans right? What could we ever do for them, but invade the world. I've seen to many things in my life and I know they're all quite real. Now most of you are going to want proof, and I have to tell you I don't have any. Kinda puts a hole in my arguement, but when you see a large animal in you backyard that goes in to the forest and it stands up on its hind legs and waves at you before it disappears into the trees? You tell me. Now, the picture I liked, I would have like it more if he would have blinked though for the camera.
-
Do you believe in Faeries?
-
I believe that faeries may exist however I doubt that they would take the form of an animal on hind legs waving at you. That just doesn't sound like the fae. I don't know if I've seen fae either because every experience can be justified; bells? well there are a lot of kids on bikes where I live. Flashes of light? This is Queensland and it is known for it's incredible amounts of sun. Things missing? Someone else probably borrowed them or I just didn't leave them where I thought. Little men crawling over my bed at night? I'm probably sleeping with my eyes partly open. People fading into walls or hedges? Probably some gap there I didn't see or I wasn't looking properly. Girls with dripping hair and dress hems? Probably came from a pool somewhere. Thumping windows? The wind. People at windows? Stalkers. Milk and honey dissapearing? Someone obviously can't get their own drink or need to up serotonine levels in order to sleep. Shadowy figures in bedroom at night? Note; shadows. People with strange features? Birth defects.
Until an experience happens that I can't deny is the work of Fairies I'll remain uncertain of their existence outside of Tir Nan Og.

I agree with your choice to be skeptical until fairies can be proven to exist but this seems like a lot of evidence pointing to a small number of possibilities. And if the methods of historians are anything to go by, a lot of evidence that on its own could point to a whole range of possibilities can be narrowed down to even one option the more evidence you collect.
You're probably thinking too narrow mindedly on this one. What other stuff have you written off as nothing?
