Depending on the definition that is being used, I could be counted as one.

Lolz, is anybody here emo? Or a hippie? Or just "normal"? :-D

Depending on the definition, or time frame, I could be any of those.

Lolz, I guess I fit the definition of "normal", T shirts & blue jeans for me. *<:)

So you mean in fashion sense.

I'm Goth for the entire lifestyle, not only in appearance.

If by fashion, then I fall into a mix of categories.

 He's good at that.

I'm........ I dunno. I like what I like no matter if it's "in fashion" or not. Unfortunately, I think I'd be described as 'normal.'

Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?

I take the opposite path that goths take.
Instead of focusing on the darker, romantic fashion, I rely on bright, obnoxious colors and twisted accessories to shock people, as well as strange juxtopositions, like a business suit with combat boots and spiked jewelry.
It makes for an interesting sight hahaha.
Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?
Post by: Kadesh on August 19, 2008, 09:20:00 PM
And mine is still the opposite of all that.... ugh. I really like the way I am.. but I hate being judged by it.

While, besides being nearly twice the size of my peers, I'm also different because I wear loose fitting, plain clothing, unlike the tight, rock tees and crap all the other guys wear.

Girls can wear those, but guys...No, just no alright. It's nasty.

Normally I never would have never even looked at skinny jeans or pants, but I recently found a really funky looking pair that I am seriously considering buying. Everyone seems to think that they look absolutely hideous, but I don't see why.  :?

Actually, they think half of the stuff in my wardrobe is ugly.
I just don't know if I could get use to my pants clinging to my legs like that, which was the reason I didn't like skinny jeans to begin with. It's too bad that particular design isn't in regular pants. :-(

Some fads should have never went out of style, at least not not to the point that you can't find them anymore. But I guess if you reeally want them you can try to make them, though with my skills, I would be better just sticking with flares.

I really shouldn't get in the habit of hijacking threads like this.

No, you shouldn't, this isn't the worst I've ever seen a thread hijacked, and it was at least a little bit on topic.
Now, to get  :focus:

I wouldn't call myself a goth, or anything of the sort, but I'm definitely a freak.
Actually, I take that back...I'm perfectly normal, and everyone else is weird. So there :-P
Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?
Post by: Moloch on November 09, 2008, 08:01:40 PM
I'll agree with you Kreep, you're no Goth. However, you're no freak either... and I am not weird, I'm perfectly normal in an odd, "sick, sadistic bastard" kind of way. I'm sure you can vouch for that too... or do I need to post up our little conversation from Yahoo IMs?  <^>
Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?
Post by: Mr. Kreepy on November 09, 2008, 10:59:18 PM
Yes, I can vouch for that. No need to advertise to the whole forum that you made me choke on my own vomit.
As for me not being a freak, I'll respectfully have to disagree...Just because I don't constantly talk about necrophilia and gay sex like you doesn't mean I'm less strange

I thought I was in trouble when I saw that Moloch had visited this thread, but since I'm not.... 0:) And Mr. Kreepy, I am not weird, I'm mildly abnormal.  :-D

For the sake of the thread, I don't consider myself to be a goth. I prefer to think of myself as an enigma. Now, I had best leave before I get myself back in hot water. *scurries away*

Just joined but I'm not goth in fact my style is usually 'unrefined'. I like baggy tees and things I can move around freely in, like waist bands that are elastic instead of belts. There's something about belts and jeans that just close me in and piss me off. If we were all naked that would be good, I'd like to be naked all the time. Or for ponchos to be more socially acceptable... whichever comes first.

I'm like a split personality with my style and my behaviorI like to wear flowery printed or pink tops with wide leg jeans some days, and on other days]], I prefer midnight black and blood red tops, with ripped jeans. Then some days i'm happy and preppy, but on others I'm thinking about severed heads and starting fires> (i love starting fires!!!) I'm practically 1/2  0:) and 1/2

Goth is a matter of opinion. Label put on people because they happpen to dress in black. Whoopty doo. I was approached one time and asked if i was i goth and a decked him. Another asked when i said no they asked to see my finger nails to see what color they were????  :? Goth was originally a style of building in, i think, ancient greek. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Label on people is like labels on a can of food. Tells you whats inside. But people aren't food(unless your the cannibalistic type) in cans, more like books you don't know whats inside unless you read.

I were black, can I be a Goth? I have nipples, can you milk me? Who cares?

That is quite possibly the funniest thing I have read in a long time. Of course I guess it only makes sense if you've seen Meet the Parents. But does bring up a damn good point. I dress like a dock worker, steel cap boots, blue jeans, and button down shirts. I hardly think that qualifies as goth. Never really understood goth culture personally. Death isn't all that worth talking about. Unless its the death of your enemies, I'm all about that.
Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?
Post by: Hobson on March 28, 2009, 01:25:12 AM
I do think Goth subculture is greatly misunderstood. It's not just about black clothes is it? 99% of what I wear is black. I also like large evil looking boots (New Rock are favourites). That's not a fashion thing however (nobody could mistake me for fashionable in any sense) it's an expression of who, or what I am, inside. Perhaps I should wear fur then...  I have tried listening to Goth music, some I like such as Sopor Aeturnus, some I can't stand, such as Sisters of Mercy. I'm also hardly peaceable, which many Goths seem to be, alongside their usual irreligious beliefs (or lack thereof; though there are also many Goths who ARE religious, I hasten to add.) Plus I don't wear black make-up, or indeed any make-up.

Everyone, human or otherwise has a need to belong I am guessing, so Goth is a convenient label to give yourself to enable access to a certain group and thus to possible community, that coincides with your own beliefs and sense of identity. It could as easily be Buddhist or National Socialist, stone butch dyke or millennial fundamentalist!

I'm not what people would consider a "goth", but I'm not "normal" either. In the fashion sense, I wear T-shirts and jeans basically everyday, but I'm not "normal." I think differently... more philosophically - and I tend to look at the world in a different perspective... more of a third-person view... I'm human, true; but I have friends who aren't and they say I act more like them than other humans.

I wouldn't classify myself as anything, my interests don't all fit into one category. Although I listen to some gothic music and like some gothic films and books, I'm definitely not a goth. Judging by the way I look and most of the music I listen to I'd be a metalhead, but labels like that don't really do anyone justice.

People want to belong to a group and being goth means so many different things that it ends up in confusion and very bad style. As far as I am concerned, I like to cross the street unnoticed and be able to run, climb or walk long distances. I don't think those goth boots are made for walking ...

Wondering if that was a joke or not. If not then that's bloody awesome and if it's soon then you're heading in for the winter, thank the lord. There's nothing worse than summer smog.

It is no joke though I fear it's a long while. After this summer I'm off for a year in the US, then about 2 years study here, and then - I'm free to go. I want to publish the few things I've written and if I earn half the success those who read the pieces predicted - IT'S AUSTRALIA, BABY!!!

I always wear black/grey trousers or jeans and usualy a shirt or longsleeved plain dark coloured T-shirt and a waist or knee length black/grey coat. Its not goth or anything. Just smart.

:P Devinoir , you don't want to come to the U.S. It's not all it's cracked up to be. I suggest you skip us and head straight to Australia. (Where do you live, anyway?)

I always wondered where the hell I wanted to go, with all the crappy stuff going on everywhere, but there's nowhere I can go and be completely happy. The perfect government doesn't exist. *sigh* ...back to contemplating the hopelessness of the human race....

Human race? Who cares bout it? I live in Armenia, and here caring about the human race ain't that popular.
I think US still rocks. If it doesn't, it'll still rock for me.
I've seen the worst. I'm ready for the better things.

Actually, in Devinoir's case... he may have legitimate cause to feel the way he does. Depending on where in Armenia you live, and who you are/know, it probably isn't a very pleasant place to live.

None of that recent s**t with the huge aviator glasses, phat pants, huge belt buckles and t-shirts going down to your knees. Oh and none of the flashy pink or bright blue shirts with tight jeans and Converse shoes... I don't get it, you either have to wear things too big or too small for you these days... What's wrong with fashion today? I love, love, love trawling the salvos looking for some baggy tees, retro dresses, patterned tights and skinnies up to my boobs. Comfy as and mad for the eye. Thank the lord that fashion these days is so modest, where I live the heat seems to have always made that a problem in the past!  :-P

i agree with simplicity so long as it fits my needs in funcionality. for example, steel toed boots as opposed to tennis shoes, carpenter jeans, good for concealing numerous instuments of stabitude, things like that.

Prey hides. And I used to be prey.

Truely?  Do you consider a trap door spider pray?  Or a lioness hiding in the deep grasses of the Sevanahha?  How about closer to home and I use a moutain lion hiding high up to drop on to unsuspecting prey?  Still think only prey hides?  I am not trying to contradict you dear Kadesh, but everything hides for one reason or anouther, and it is that reason that defines the hider.  Now while this would be a great debate I think this thread should get  :focus: .  Of course if some wish to begin a new thread on this subject by all means, feel free to do so.

Right gotta love the Pistols and Gen x great revolutionary punk bands and also the 4 skins and Oppressed are Oi bands Oi is a working class movement characterized by blue collared defiance against oppression from government's pressures  racist boneheads and very similar to punkrock if not hand in hand
I use both ideals and combine them which is ultimately "Working class punkrock".I don't believe that living in the gutter doing drugs self-destructing and being a loser is cool nor punkrock.

I believe in working for one's pay
Standing up for this underground rebellion against ignorance and for social change
To display this I also wear clothing items from oi and punk  style I have a chelsea and a mohawk I wear bleached pants and braces with studded belts and a leather, etc.

That's just a couple of examples. If you have any more questions feel free to question.I'm no goth I wear the shopckvalue clothes with a message behind them.

I'm not going to advertise for someone. If you want advertisement, you pay for it... not stamp it on my ass like I'm cattle. My clothes don't tell you how I vote, what my favorite color is, where I live, or what color smurf I ate for breakfast.... They're what I like, when I like it. Functional or dressy. Perfect for whatever need I have. I don't fit into a category and I'm damn glad. No, I don't know what all these styles are. I've seen the same things everyone else has, and they probably all look goth or skater punk to me. I wear my clothes... they don't wear me.

Be glad of those challenges of earlier life.  Hard though they may have been, they are what help to define us now.  Look at it this way, all those well to do, never have to suffer, fight for the things they needed in life, they turn out to be pompous empty headed fools with delusions of self importance.  Paris Hilton comes immediately to mind.  The hardest lesson learned is the one that will stay with you the longest, if it does not kill you (either physical or mentally) then you will be stronger for it.

Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?
Post by: KubeSix on September 07, 2009, 09:04:59 PM
My childhood was a mix of awesomeness and loneliness (Yeah, weird mix, I know...) For a good part I would spend time with my friends (Who are still my firneds, they're what you'd call 'real friends'. One of them I've known since birth; our families knew each other before we were born) and play these weird imaginary games.. We had created this whole imaginary world and all...

On the other hand, when I moved away from there I couldn't see them as often and its tough to make new friends when the ones you have, you've known since you were like 2 at most... So I ended up being alone. It's taught me many things, though, so I agree with it shaping who we are now and making us stronger. After moving everything went downhill for me socially speaking. At the time I was the regular kid who only wanted to have fun, then slowly I started having darker and darker thoughts and kids just love to pick on the solitary one. In a way, I didn't mind being alone because I didn't want to be friends with these people, but the hate still grew. I once got in a fight with the big bully of the school. He had never really picked on me, but in sixth grade he decided he'd try... Bad decision, he regretted it. I try to keep my anger under control, but psychologists say people like me, who never manifest their anger or vent it, are the most dangerous.

In a way, I like it that way. I know if I ever need it, I have the greatest weapon of all right there. 0:)

No, no my childhood wasn't difficult, I was sort of joking before. Therapy? Anxiety? Religious doctrine? I'm glad that's basically all I've dealt with. In fact, I've had all the material joys a kid could ask for, food in the fridge, toys, internet access, clothes, a bed, money. Medical help when I needed it (which I did). It was never unecessarily difficult and the only way it's made me stronger is in the sense that I am 'getting better'.

I know that the mind is not strong unless honed constantly over a lifetime, that nothing is strong unless you work at it and I guess that's the lesson I've learnt from childhood. I'm not like you Meurte, or you Kubesix, I'm not strong minded or strong-willed, I don't possess much inner-power and I definitely don't have a good coping mechanism (Kadesh...)! Any challenges I have, I don't throw myself at them, I don't believe I can hide well, instead and for lack of a better phrase, I wait and I listen closely and I slowly chip away at every obstacle with those traits instead.

It's the way I was raised; through my own mistakes and downfalls. Take things at a steady pace and the momentum you build up means you'll never have to stop.

Man up and accept that you eff'd up... don't give me that whiny @ss crap about "but I had a hard childhood"   Look around... it's more normal to have a hard childhood than it is to have a good one.

Sorry... I get a bit pissy over that one..
Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?

You are right, though. Lots of people use their childhood as an excuse for any and everything. They commit a crime, hey they had a hard childhood. They end up living on the street? Well hey, it's not their fault if they had a hard childhood... Sometimes it just doesn't even remotely make any sense how that would excuse anything... Oh well, some people need pity, others have pride.

Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?

I'm sorry but people are not ridiculous, they are simply their own person. One may not understand the motives of another but that does not mean they should disregard them as 'excuses' based on how sappy or ludicrous they sound.

Emotional and mental pain is the same, no matter how it is felt and therefore should be taken into account, soothed and healed no matter the reasons it is felt.

If someone is addicted to drugs, then she is addicted to drugs and should be helped, regardless. If he committed a crime because he had a hard childhood, then that makes whatever affected him in his youth even more serious within the community. That man should be taken to a support group where he can be assissted in carrying the burdens of those memories. Instead of being dismissed or thrown in jail, situations where those burdens will only grow heavier.

If it is an excuse, then why are they using it? To lie about such a thing shows trauma or mental issues anyway, which should be addressed instead.

You're misunderstanding what I"m saying, Ryobi. I'm talking about people that use it as a crutch an excuse to get by with things. Not people that are genuinely affected by things, but are still trying to be a good person and working toward overcoming them. The people that are working toward understanding themselves and overcoming obstacles are the strong ones we were talking about earlier. The others? Weak and pathetic... the ones I'm talking about now.
Title: Re: Is everybody here a goth?

I do understand Kadesh, many seem to misunderstand the true motives of people as simply excuses, which is what I was trying to get at through that post. However, I also said that those who are using those kinds of stories as an emotional crutch, should probably seek help as well, as that really isn't a mentally sound action.

The point is to try and to keep on trying. Some do recover, hope that in time and with constant pushing in that direction, they will as well or at least learn that by using 'trauma' as an excuse, they only get into more unbearable situations.

I would love to say that I'd push anyone in the right direction. I would love to say I'm that much of a humanitarian. But the truth is, most people only have themselves to blame for the situations they're in. If it truly wasn't someone's fault that they were where they were... then I'd help. Gladly.

I guess, how I see it is that, if it's their own fault that they have gotten themselves into a situation. Then they are the obstacle that needs to be overcome if they are to live in peace again. Who am I to deny a fellow person that feeling? Something I seek so strongly myself.

It's not a selfless cause, it's only fair.

I see where you're coming from as well though, tough and practical frame of mind that one. I'm sure you'd be able to help as well.

Kadesh is right Ryobi. Im sorry, you obviously want to see the good in people and I love that theres still people like you in the world. But some people dont want help. They just want an excuse for attention and to fail but have someone else to blame. You hear it all the time. "Rehab failed me!". No. You failed rehab. Theres a difference. People would say its a cry for help or attention and because of this the person needs psychiatric help. Im goin to tell you a personal story of mine.

I have an aunt (not actualy my aunt but a family friend) who used to crave attention. Off anyone who would listen. She was ill with every seasonal disease imaginable. No matter how bad your cold was, she had the flu. One day she announced to her husband that she had been throwing up in the toilet after every meal on purpose because she felt unloved. This, I know was a lie. He loved her an amazing amount. She didnt work from the day they were married and never kept the home. He cooked and cleaned and such. One day she started putting on alot of weight. I mean ALOT of weight. When her mother died she told everyone that her mother used to beat her. She seeked mental help. She then went to live at a hospital for a while. Her husband is a wealthy man and got her the best of help. Her father went into a coma. She then claimed he used to rape and beat her. My uncle poured money into her healthcare. She never thanked him. Eventually she was forced to recieve ECT. Electroconvulsive Therapy or Electroshock Therapy. This went on for over ten years. In and out of hospitals. In and out of care. And now..... what started off as attention seeking ended in the only conclussion you would expect if someone spent that long in the mental hospitals and recieving ECT. She weighs in at around 300 pounds. Never leaves the house. Rocks back and forth. She dot her wish. Shes mad now. Her father died recently. She cried and mourned for the supposed rapist and abuser after years of saying she wished he would die. She was left with nothing on the will. Her recent exploits.... we caught her mailing death threats..... to herself. Claiming it was her remaining family. No one visits her now. We all gave up. You cant help the ones who dont want it.

I agree with Kadesh and Angelus. I'm not talking about those who seek help and are really in a bad situation because of something that happened to them in their childhood. Some people have severe mental scars, but you won't meet them on the street; they're in mental institutes most of the time. That rules out most of those that deserve sympathy. Some people use their hard childhoods as an excuse to be complete fark-ups and not do s**t to improve their situation. Unfortunately that happens too often and there are very few that accept to be helped.

Like Angelus said, it's good that there are people who try to see the good in others. But you can't look for something good and try to help those who won't help themselves. They've got to learn to swim for themselves, you know? Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll never be hungry again... Or... something like that...

Plus, to use a bad experience as an excuse rather than a way to learn a lesson isn't just being weak; it's hypocrisy. Once again, I'm not talking about those who have been traumatized or have true scars. But read the story I wrote of my childhood and now think about this: I could easily become one of those guys who go in school with a machine gun and kill everybody. Then it would be all over the news, of course, because the poor guy decided to end his life because most of his childhood was crap and take his revenge upon those who made him this way. But does that mean you should forgive their actions? People like this tend to commit suicide. But that means that they haven't learned the lesson they were taught, not that they had no chance. Will you pity a bum on the street that didn't listen in class and failed his 9th year 3 times because he didn't give a s**t about school? (I don't want you to think I have no sympathy for those who take their own lives because they couldn't take anymore; I'm saying they still had a chance and decided to take the easy way instead.)

Your aunt wasn't trying to get out of something by using her past as a crutch though Angelus. It seems like she just wanted attention, something that's free and more than easy to give away. It just happens to be, that the easiest way of getting what she wanted was through an over-developed victim complex.

If she enjoyed being that way, why stop her? If you gave her the attention she craved then chances are she would be happy for a while. You're right some people don't want to be helped in the conventional way and therefore the conventional way would do nothing. However if their situation is practically harmless, like craving attention then by all means, why not give it to her?

I know people who want the same thing as her, if you listen, focus on them and exagerrate your reactions to what the person says they become so excited and are so happy for a while. Maybe It's a coping mechanism if anything (and don't ask for what, I don't know) but if that kind of behaviour makes a person feel safe and content, then I guess it's not a challenge or an obstacle they're just facing a quirk in character and one that is easy to deal with...

It makes them happy, but when they stop getting the attention, life gives them one hell of smack in the face... My little brother's like that. Always wants attention. My parents did the exact same thing you said; they gave him all the attention he needed to be happy. Now he's a spoiled little brat. He cries if my parents tell him to help with the dishes, manages to get desert without finishing dinner, etc. And all that in sixth grade... I think that's a good example of what would happen to someone like that, at any period of their life. If they don't have the attention they need after being given it for too long, they end up worse than they were before. What's worse is those who use their problems as a way to get attention, even if those problems are made up. I think Angelus illustrated that well.

And how would using your past as a crutch be a mental issue? Using past experiences as a way to justify themselves isn't caused by those experiences themselves, it's caused by themselves. It can be the product of many things, but not mental breakdown. If they're not in a mental hospital it means they've recovered from that breakdown if they had one in the first place. Therefore, using such excuses isn't truthfully facing a problem, it's dismissing it as a cause of their past. It's like saying "I'm fat because it's in my genes." Not true, not true at all. Anybody with enough self-respect and/or willpower can lose weight. (Unless it's caused by an illness, but that's a different case totally. Same thing with someone who's insane, they don't have much of a chance compared to others.)

Why do they use it as an excuse? It's the easy way out. If you were being tried for something and you could say it's because you suffer from trauma because of your past or confess you're a dangerous criminal (Or try to get away with it), which on would you chose? Take a few pills every morning because you used a weak excuse to justify something or would you have enough pride to accept the price of your actions?

There is a very large difference between giving a kid everything he wants and giving him attention. Unless you see dessert before dinner as attention...

If someone takes a lie so far that they actually start doing drugs because of it, then that is a mental issue and should be addressed as such. If they are using their past as an excuse, then that means they probably believe that whatever the excuse is, in a much more severe situation or even similar situation could cause the same thing, if that's so then there is a risk that it really could come true.

It may also be caused by themselves, if that's so then their mind set is the problem. If their mind set means they feel they can get away with breaking the law etc then that is classified as a mental issue.

I'm not saying they should get off scott-free, at all. Just that they should never be dismissed and that in some cases, it may seem as if they are using an excuse when really they are not.

I meant that to be a result of the attention giving. It always starts off with attention, but eventually you get caught in their littel games and they get whatever they want. That's what I meant.

Once again, it all comes down to whether or not they'll help themselves. If someone starts doing drugs because they had a bad childhood, chances are they haven't tried other ways. Maybe I think that way only because I dislike people in general, but people use such experiences as a crutch way too much.

Some people have severe mental scars, but you won't meet them on the street; they're in mental institutes most of the time.

Hmm you're right. But if they manage to hide the scars it means they managed to get over, to some extent, their past experiences and have learned things from it; have become stronger from it. Those who can't do that, those who just see it as a big tragedy are those I was talking about. They're the ones who end up in hospitals.

Sometimes people need support in order to change their way of life Kubesix, such as signing in to a mental hospital in order to gain the support they need to change their state of mind. Sometimes, instead of 'signing in' people may constantly talk about an experience that had a profound effect on them, using it as a crutch, or try to self medicate in a social way that will gain attention.

Quote

It's a possible result, however not the only one. We can agree on that no?

And with scars, sometimes it's because the person hiding them is too ashamed or too scared to come forward and that feeling more often than not gets worse. So they suppress it (big mistake) instead or just act totally differently in private or end up dead.

The occasional trip and fall helps us to remember that no matter what we still need to be careful.  Or you can be like me and go break neck for broke 24-7, though I would not suggest it.

That's true mate, if you don't learn from the obstacles you face, it makes overcoming them nearly pointless. Because if you don't learn from them then you can't make sure you don't go down that road again I guess...

And I'm done with my rant on "fashionista's"... there's another five seconds of your lives you'll never get back... and it's all MINE!!! *insert crazy laugh here.*   :wink"

Good to hear. That's what makes you, you. You choose to dress how you choose because it fits your needs/lifestyle as do I. I do label myself because I know who I am and what I stand for. This rebellion is what I believe in and represent on a daily basis and I see nothing wrong with being proud of who I am and knowing where I stand. If it weren't for people like you there wouldn't be people like me and vice versa,so it works out.My clothes are a direct banner of how I feel. For ex. I love the ol flick,"night of the living dead" and wear the shirt often because I love it and it looks cool and on top of that many like-minded people come up to me and converse about ol horror flicks. Its the same with the punk/oi style. If you weren't aware of the differences between the two you'd probably say that its punk.I'd like to think its my own style because the clothes that I fashion/alter are unique.

I have two t-shirts that I will never get rid of. One has a Simpson's character on it with his finger crammed in his nose, and it says "Pick Me"... the other has several of the Simpson's characters and it says "Nerds Rock".  As for the rest of my stuff... it varies. But I'm becoming more and more aware of myself as a woman and dressing appropriately. If I want people to take me seriously, I have to take myself seriously and present myself accordingly.   .... Sorry... been reflecting on myself a lot lately. It seems I grow up more and more every day. Not age wise, but more mentally and emotionally.

I agree, I feel like I'm growing up to. I think last year I posted on this thread going on about how I wished that it was socially acceptable for us to all be naked, all the time. Now I wear high heels on special occasions and hit the op shops on weekends, for new sewing projects.

So much more feminine nowadays and I feel a lot more aware of what is expected of me. Not to say that I don't continue to sit around in my own house wearing next to nothing or failing that my maternal knock-off pants with the huge elastic waist bands. Just not anywhere else anymore...

It's a second hand store, people donate clothes and others buy them for really low prices.

For instance the other day I got a dress for $2.50 and all it needed was a good portion chopped off the skirt, a few tuck ins and a really long wash. The cool thing is, you always find things with so much character that they seem to take on personalities of their own. Don't you have those kinds of shops in the US?
