Title: Attack of the Phantom Kangaroos!!
Post by: Mr. Kreepy on October 26, 2008, 04:53:26 AM
For those of you not aware of the phenomena, "phantom kangaroos" are essentially just kangaroos in places they ought not be, whether that place is someone's porch in Illinois or the forests of France. Wherever the place may be, sightings of kangaroos in places they ought not be are extremely common, to the degree of it being a phenomena studied by cryptozoologists.
Now, the reason I've created this thread is because I've really been wondering...Why the hell are kangaroos just running around millions of miles away from their natural habitat? And why is it so common to the point where cryptozoologists are taking interest? An even stranger question is, why on Earth are they having such a hard time finding out just how those big hopping marsupials got where they are?

In country Australia, it is not uncommon to have young kangaroos as pets, they make great pets when they are young. When they get older they grow quite large and are harder to control, and are often let back out into the wild. My first guess is that it would be due to foriegn people with a penchant for exotic pets eventually letting them go in the countries where they live.

It's like the phantom cats in countries where big cats aren't native.  People let them go, and they somehow find ways to survive for years, possibly even breed and start little families and such.

That's really cool, though.  I would love to see one of these phantom kangaroos.

Reminds me of the black panther epidemic. People have spotted black panthers in Europe, & North America. The places in Europe are were natives have farmed all the native animals off the land for grazing sheep & other livestock.

& it's not a foreign animal let loose, panthers (also known as cougars, mountain lions, & pumas) all have a distinctive square head that no other big cat has, also, it's leg to body proportions are unique as well. So these people who have spotted it are very firm in their details, the only thing that says it can't be a panther is it's coloring.

Some of the scientists say that they might be the descendants of a small group of panthers that were trapped by human encroachment, then inbred to the point that the genetic mutations launched them into their own subspecies. They say that it is extremely likely, since by all the sightings, they say that it happened TWICE. In Europe, & in North America. Although, some say that the American sightings are just black jaguars who traveled north too far in an attempt to escape poachers who were invading their territories.
