<---- checks himself> I don't think I'm undead  No seriously, though we are not undead. There has been some debate with a few people on here as to us being true vampires if we are not undead and some swearing they have seen/hunted undead vampires. Let me clarify a bit: there are demons, either imprisoned or freely roaming around in dead bodies. These are not vampires, though they are probally where the peoples of old got the story from. Yes they drink blood and behave much like us, but they are nothing more than a demon "borrowing" a husk to cause havoc and mayhem, as they do. If you would like to know some more about a living vampire pm me or look for some of my posts and others in the vamipre clan.

Actually my friend vampires are not the undead, or at least the modern day's vampires aren't. Vampires and the undead (zombies, etc) both hold some qualities that you can tell them apart and still other points that they slightly have in common. Vampires practice vampirism which is sums up to feeding off another individual, being it blood or psychic means and while zombies in some cases are thought to eat flesh, are mainly corpses brought back to life and/or by a curse, necromancy, in spiritual power and also shown in movies the theory of reanimating the dead through the creation of viruses and experiments.
My point is that feeding off of blood (practicing vamprism) is what makes a vampire a vampire, their bodies don't have to be dead. 0:)

Actually, damned one, Vampires are not undead, it was a myth, made to make them sound scarier!

hmm, am i correct?
the undead ones are with demons inside them..
and
vampires are "real" ones..real, meaning, if your a vampire, your soul is still there..
are the zombies and other corpses somewhat controlled by demons?

Well, there are mant different variations f vampires, and some of them could be undead. Basically the vampire has been torn up so much that any creature who drinks blood can be considered a vampire.

Just out of curiosity my mate is a Vamp and well........Im not. :-D Is there any kind of weirdness or ackwardness in a pairing of a vampire and a wolfe? All the legends, movies, and other things say, boo, not to happen because they are enemies. Is there any truth in all that? Do vampires really hate wolves and vice versus?
-
No just making sure. I ve had my own opinion but I've probably just heard some wrong info from wannabe's. Thanks.

i say we r living but dead, our hearts till beat we still need the basics to survive food (blood), shelter (our homes) and well some of us still need communication so jus because we r cold and wlak around at night doesnt mean we r dead

I believe that vampires are their own category of 'dead'.It is my belief that vampires are not undead but are in a limbo between life and death within their own physical bodies.Their souls are there, and their bodies are their complete, and they possess cognitive thought and a certain understanding of the world we live in.They are not undead.

I like to call them undead, but a lot of people call them the "living dead", which I guess is the same thing...
Back in the old folklore, vampires were born from sin. Mostly anyone who killed anyone else, killed themself, or got bitten by a vampire rose three days (I think) after their death to feast on the blood of humans... technically they came back to life, yet they're still dead because they don't have a heartbeat or anything.
That makes them undead. Right?
-
cylinder.im sure they are referred to as the undead because they are neithe alive nor dead.thus,undead.
-
oh yeah is that right? well why dont you just fly down here and bite me on the neck then.

From what I've read 'classical vampires' and 'modern vampires' are two very different things. In the same way that therians and creatures like werewolves differ.
Classical vampires are undead and it's thought that this is the reason they have to consume other people's life force. A modern vampire and I guess the 'de-hollywooded version' simply lacks the ability to generate the life force they need to survive and therefore has to take it for others. They are not 'undead'.

maybe a little of both :-)

It depends on your definition of vampire; either as the re-animated corpse sent to prey upon the living bring pestilence, famine and death in their wake, or the modern interpretation of a person that requires energy/ life-force from another and uses various ways to get it, but is otherwise the same as other people etc......... To my mind it's a question that can be answered in various ways and is entirely subjective of the culture, upbringing etc. of the person answering
