Tell us all about those critters that just make you warm and fuzzy inside. You can have up to three votes.
-
Lol, yeah, I had to vote for mammals too.
-
Reptiles. I can't not love something that is cold-blooded and covered in scales. Plus, snakes, crocodiles, and alligators in particular are deadly and pure intimidation, two of my favorite characteristics.
-
Lol, yep. I LOOOVE snakes and crocodiles. :-D
-
Crocs are indeed awesome, but when it comes to sheer intimidation and terror, I have to say that sharks have a narrow advantage over them, with this being especially true with white sharks. Afterall, has there ever been a croc movie that is remotely comparable to Jaws? With that said, I have to admit that no matter how terrifying sharks may be, my favourite animal is still a mammal. The Bengal Royal tiger, to be exact. Reigning supreme among felines, this beast is the ultimate combination of power and grace.
-
I love cats, no matter how big or small, they are my number one favorite animal. :-D
-
I voted Mammals and Reptiles.
Even though i, myself am a mammal. i own a reptile as a pet. He's a bearded Dragon(If you don't know what one looks like go onto yahoo or google and look up a picture) and he's called Dragoon.
-
Oh my gosh, those guys are so cute. Is it true they squirt blood at you out of their tear ducts if you piss them off? O.O
-
"YOU YELL AT ME ONE MORE TIME ABD I SWEAR......I will shoot blood out of my eyes!!!"
"warning you!!!!"
Mine was mammals cause I am one other cause you forgot fish and I love the thresher shark, then there is my fav. *drum roll* Penguins!!!!!!!!!
-
I voted mammals and reptiles. I'm partial towards Russian silver foxes and alligators. =D
-
I didn't know the official/scientific name for fish, so I just put other. :-P
-
Reptiles. Regina, you are thinking of Horny Lizard that squirts blood as a defense mechanism. Beardies are adorable though, such cute little faces you just wanna grab their little cheeks.
-
Lol, still, BOTH of those guys are sooo cute. :-D
-
Little penguin on Ice..
Its so cold it must be nice.
They are so cute and fluffy wuffy
when they are lttle they are so puffy.
thats all I got so far....oh yeah I heared from somewhere that the blood like stuff that comes out of their eyes can blind for a while.
-
Ohhh, that poem is so cute terror!!! It makes me want be a penguin. ^.^
-
Happy feet!!!!
My top:
1 - horses (guess that one was obvious)
2 - deers/moose
3 - wolf
4 - lizards
5 - cats
(http://communities.zeelandnet.nl/data/amyduys/upload/images/happy.jpg)
-
I hate fish >< bad childhood memory (summary: picking up a fish that I thought was dead but wasn't)
I find myself attracted to quite a few animals in no particular order:
Penguins (PEEEEEEEEEENGUINS!!!!!)
Sheep (there's a story to this one)
Turtles (Turtles are cool)
Armadillos (Not so much nowdays but anything that can roll into a ball is cool)
Ox and other bull-like things (Gotta respect their stuborness)
There's others but I don't feel like typing them up. . .
-
I voted avians and reptiles. I didn't vote mammals because the only mammals I really like are feline and canine, and an occasional bat, fox, or bear, depending on my mood. The rest... meh.
I've always loved reptiles. Always. I also love birds.
I love snakes of all kinds, and I adore chameleons. Birds of prey are amaaaazing.
My other favorites are... well... snowy white critters. Gyrfalcon, Snowy Owl, arctic wolf and fox, snow leopard, polar bear, and whatever else lives in that area. I also love Amur Leopards :-D
Okay, I'm done. :-D
-
I love wolves. Wild cats come in at a close 2nd. Any kind really, but i just love ocelots and savannahs the most though.
-
I prefer Canines
A Lycan wouldnt be bad, thanks
-
I love pretty much any animal. I chose mammals, avians, and reptiles because I usually prefer something in those categories.
-
Reptiles, I like snakes and lizards and stuff. I also like wolves and cats alot.
-
I have two snakes and two guinea pigs. I love dogs but live in a small apartment and work a lot. If it werent for dogs, mammal wise, all I would like is the pocket pets. :-)
Becuase I get asked all the time.......No my snakes do not try to eat my guinea pigs they are not that big. Cornsnake and Mexican black kingsnake. Besides my pigs can hold their own.
-
Hmm... i would have to say wolves(who'd a thunk it?) and tigers/ snow leopards. I like snakes alot too. One day i will own a sugar glider and an egyptian mau. I like shire horses too.
I couldn't own a guinea pig...my cousin has two and i've tried to eat them. I used to more or less get unnerved around them. Not any more just food.
-

[/quote]
I know what you mean. My mates pig is terrified of me. If I even growl at her she squeeks like shes being murdered.
-
*<:) thats funny. All i have to do is walk into her room and both begin screaming and hide in the little hide-hole thing and if i take it away they completely freak out. Its more funny than anything...least till i start drooling. *<:)
-
Thats too funny. *<:)
Its only his pig. Mine will let you slober on him, nip at him, whatever. He gets a kick out of it.
-
oh jeez if i bite them...all hell breaks loose. It squrims and screams even louder. The only reason it lived was it hurt my ears and i dropped it and then it took off and i didn't want it anymore.
Funny how easy it is to get off subject.
-
Back on topic: Raccoons are not my favorite animal (though I do like them, of course), and the same for horses. I have a connection to them, that's all...
Anyone find that interesting?
-
Teteo, Lemurs are very cute but not the best pets. One recently bit me in the face at work & then a few weeks later tore up the hand of another lemur.
Kreepy, pigs are awesome. Mine is the love of my life & by far the best pet I've ever had. Despite common belief they are incredibly clean animals who normally don't like to get dirty. The pigs people see in mud holes use them because they have no other option for cooling off, mine wouldn't be caught dead in a mud hole.
Rats & hedgehogs are two more favorites of mine so clever & cute you just wanna squeeze 'em, until the spines get you, that sucks.
-
Mice and rats are adorable. Having owned mice previously, I can say that if you get past the fact that they're commonly regarded as vermin, you'll discover for yourself just how darn cute they can get. I also think that certain species of parrots and ravens would make interesting pets as well.
-
Snakes make rather fascinating pets from what I've heard, but if I got one, especially if it were a large species like a python, I'd be tempted to eat it. I generally tend to view reptiles as potential food rather than as pets.
-
Snakes are incredibly fascinating pets althoug unless you are a real snake person they don't really get most people excited unless they are eating. Mine are wonderful & all have distinct personalities. It takes a long time & a special kind of person to really find the personality of them but it's totally worth it. I have 9 right now of 4 different species & every one is unique with it's own little quirks.
-
Trantulas make interesting pets as well.
Most wouldn't see them as food and you can scare the living hell out of guests
-
Goats
Goats could be on the "strange animals" list for their eyes alone. Though they are strange looking in general...
-
While not really a pet, one animal I love to watch are barracuda's-torpedo with teeth
others are sieberian tiger & crocodiles
-
The wolf is my favorite, for alot of reasons,
wolverines are pretty badass too,
I like all the preditors,
-
Dogs ^^
-
I think I would also... uh.. pick wolves, though they're uncomfortably popular on this site, also black panthers, I think. And I think all types of cats.
-
Hmmmm...
I'd definitely say wolves. I also like owls, cats, rabbits, mice.
:-P
-
Bears....bears......and more bears! Love them more than any other animal on this earth.
-
My favorite animal would have to be my dog. Other than that... I love all but three.
-
1st place for me goes to wolves , then id say various types of dog , eagles & flacons too and then owls
-
I LOVE REPTILES! I love the things that scare people. <^>
-
Im the same way Mental. I love the schmoes of the animl kingdom. Reptiles, sharks, spiders, etc. Their beauty is so obvious to me just a little harder for most to see.
-
What about roaches? Belief it or not, there are people out there who dig them.
-
Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches were quite popular in the pet trade for a while. Living in FLorida I have no need to keep one as a pet, we have them everywhere. Insects can be quite fascinating. I love scorpions but the hubby refuses to let me have one as a pet since they creep him out a bit. I'm busy enough with the 11 snakes & mini potbelly pig.
-
i used to live in where there were tones of cockroaches... and i can say , it was indeed fun waging my own little genocide on them *<:)
-
I choose others.
I like arthropods like Scorpion and spider.
CardioToxin anyone.

-
Well for me it would have to be dragons. (Reptile I guess)
Mythical or real it still counts as my favorite.
-
Oooh... nice list, Fatass!! Love it!!
-
I've just got to mention the Platypus. I love them. They are cute but deadly, mammals but not total oxymoron in design.
-
I have to mention that I find rats adorable. So much so that if I think that I have rats living at my place I refrain from calling the pest exterminators.
-
My rat just recently passed away. His name was Clyde & I was actually there the day he was born at school. He was the best, knew his name, loved sitting & watching tv. Absolutely one of the best pets ever.
-

You'd like my friend... He has a rat living in his closet :P (And I agree, they're adorable. And not only that, they can be great companions.)
I'm sorry to hear that, Countess... Our pets become part of our family, but they leave so quickly too...
I'd say my favorite animal would be either the wolf (I know, really original, right?) or the polar bear. Polar bears are the type of animal that would do anything to protect their loved ones; when they fight, it's to the death. My philosophy teachers can say animals don't have minds of their own all they want, that's something even some humans wouldn't do. (And maybe that's also why I get bad grades in philosophy...) Oh, and any large feline also counts as a favorite. Agile and powerful, graceful and fearsome.
-
I'm very sorry for your loss, Countess. I had a dwarf hamster that passed away not long ago, so I understand how hard it is.
-
I know exactly how you feel since both of my mice perished due to cancer. Rodents make great pets but their short lifespan means that we lose them a lot sooner than we'd like
-
Thank you, now :focus: This is one of my newer favorites The Stilletto Snake.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atractaspis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atractaspis)
The cool thing about their fang structure is that it is totally unique. Instead of folding up into the roof of their mouth as other hinge-fanged snakes do, this snakes fangs actually come out of the sides of the mouth. This way the nearly blind snake can squeeze into a rodent nest & simply move it's head back & forth, envenomating as many babies as possible then eating them.
-
My new favorite animal........ The Grasshopper Mouse. Just watch. Omg... one bad ass lil furball!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyqG1rI5l70 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyqG1rI5l70)
-
The Tazmanian Devil is a cute little fella!! A little aggressive, but in a cute way!!! The Wolverine is cool too!! :-D
-
One of the many things I do, and probably one of my favorites beside casting spells is animal communications. I have been very fortunate and have spoken with many species. I loooooooovvvvvvve snakes, but never did as a kid. Reptiles really of any kind freaked me out. Then I met some very interesting ones and highly intelligent snakes that I wish I could have taken home with me. they have taught me so very much. (of course there are those who are particularly elitist) but for the most part I find there intelligence is a gift and a curse. Their intelligance is many times mistaken for meaness or deceptiveness, when really they just dont have time for our reactions toward them, some of them actually resent it and don't like humans because of it.
I love em:)
I always say that if there is an animal, reptile whatever that you don't like, invite its energy into your life because you need its medicine and its energy can help you along your journey.
Of course that doesn't necessarily mean go out and get a snake, you can get a funky piece of jewellery or whatever just to have them near you and to work with them:)
-
Gotta throw in cats here... have always loved woves but after having outdoor cats again (3 now) -I love them. have a warrior black Tom who behaves more like a dog - would love a panther... except it would get a little messy when he'd bring gifts home.
-
Xebache, I have to agree. I never really cared much for cats, mainly because most send me into allergy fits. But all black short hairs don't bother me. We recently adopted Grim my first cat & he is completely fascinating. On a side note, I can't help it, but I have to ask, are these cats vaccinated fully? If they aren't I have to urge you for their health/safety as well as your own, please get them fully vaccinated as well as tested for FeLv/FIV. Trust me, you don't want to lose one of them or all to any of those diseases. Ok, CVT hat is off sorry.
-
Turtles. I freak'n love these lil guys. The way they poke their lil heads out to look at you all crazy. So great!
-
my favorite would have to be a wombat... It's just so fuzzy and mean... lol Kadesh, that is one mean mouse! >_< it was crazy! I love rats, my sister had 2 of them. named cheech and chong. :) Can't forget cats, and dogs... I pretty much love all animals so long as they don't gnaw any part of my body off. :)
-
If they gnaw off a part of you, then you're probably already dead, so it won't matter. *<:)
-
Lol very true! But I won't go down without a fight :p lol, although it probably won't be as humorous as the one I've just witnessed :D
-

Look at him go! He's like : Dodge, dodge, parry,ATTACK
Gotta love it, you go little bugga! Good show Grashopper, good show.
-
my favorite animals consist of bears, cats, owls, and snakes.... I get along with all of them. I love animals no matter how big, small, furry, slimey, or scaley. They are all so freakin cool <3
-
Panther.
-
Pit bulls and snakes are my top favorites. My family's good with pits, but I'm the only one in my family who doesn't panic when a snake shows up. Go figure.
-
In this order:
1. Wolves (dogs)
2. Cats
3. Horses
-
Wolves
Lemurs
Snakes
-
My favorite animals are constrictor snakes, crocodiles, owls and Tigers. Tiger shark is pretty cool too :-D
But as far as pets go, a cat-nice, quiet, and low maintenance. 8-)
-
Canids. Wolves, Coyotes, name it. Fave is a coonhound.
I like chameleons, too
-

The wolf will always have that special place in my heart...I'm a Were myself, Lex is a Were too and I own two Huskie/Wolf Hybrids (40/60) and love them to death!
Any Canine, I feel so close to them...Dogs, Coyotes, Foxes, Jackals...any canid-type animal really...
A close second is the big cats, tigers being my favorite!
-
I want a Lemur tattoo...
and at one point I wanted one as a pet, but at a members' suggestion I ended up doing a whole lot of research on them and decided they're the kind of pet I'll have when I'm retired and own alot of property. :-D

Nice! I already have a wolf tattoo...on the upper right of my chest...and I want to get another one on my shoulders next to the one I already have there...I should start a tattoo/body mod thread! Now where talking!
:back to topic: Lemurs are cool, but they just aren't my animal I guess...I like the big predators like wolves and tigers more I guess, pet tiger or Jaguar might be more my style one day!
-

Have fun with that. I enjoy my limbs, and my face.
I wouldn't want my pet to make a snack out of either.
My oldest wants me to inform everyone, her favorite animal is a Liger.
-
My favorite animal, hmm, I guess for now I'll say panda. I love pandas, think they're awesome, but not sure if they are my favorite. Though for the time being, why not.

My two Huskies are already 60% wolf! Not much of a step to full wolf from there!
-
I'd say mine were right about that range as well... Wolves are pack animals though. They're not as likely to tear your face off as a Jaguar.
Anyways, because my oldest was allowed to share, my youngest wants to as well.
And it's in a "Spissalfic" order, too.
Kitties, like our two
Puppies, like [ my fiance's ] Dad's - ( Pugs... they're so ugly, they're cute. )
Turtles, like our Megatron
and Butterflies.

I was kind of saying that, but knowing that it would never work out in real life!
Cool. I wonder how many Lycans on here have Wolf-Hybrids other than us...and here's to derailing another thread on yet another tangent! *Sighs*

Had... for me.
They passed away.

Totally jealous you had wolf hybrids, I want one so badly. I have worked with a few & they are amazing. There is a breeder in S.Fl that when the time is right if they are still around I would want one from. They require two visits with the dog at their place, a home inspection, interview, application. But the hybrids they produce are gorgeous & very well mannered. Florida frowns on mixes over 25% wolf but it happens. As do coyote mixes & dingo mixes. Anyway,
:focus:
King Cobras (I have a taxidermy one), Gaboon vipers, & False Water Cobras. The last is the only one I would consider having as a pet since they are rear-fanged "diet coke of venomous". But I would still need to be licensed by the state.

Well....Wolfies wolves are close to 3/4 wolf actually :D The Breeder messed up the papers originally, and my state frowns on ANY mix over 25%, but as long as I pay the license...I'm good :)
I had to drive down to Charleston to get mine, that was a good road trip, had never been to SC before, kind a fun road trip as well :)
My furbabies are beautiful, and good for both being hunting and house dogs...but they have TONS of energy, good thing I'm their owner, I don't think a lot of other people could handle it, but being part-wolf myself, I understand them better...esp. Lava...she's got more of the "wolfish" air than Rumpus...
-
I do some volunteer work at a few Avian rehabilitation centers. Owls are by far my favorite species of any 'n' all species of creature. Falcons as a close second. I own four snakes and a fat lazy bastard of an iguana though.
-
Hmm...
I had to choose other, simply because my favorite animal would be the spider...especially the web weaving variants. The Black, and White, Widow in particular would be my personal choices and I tend to feel that they emulate my personality to a moderate degree...the whole associated phobia coupled with the perverse attraction in which many hold towards the creatures despite said fear.
That aside, in combination to such, I'm very found of venomous serpents and Octopi of all flavors.
-
For me, it's between three...sharks (the great white in particular), wolves and bats; if I had to choose I would say the great white tops my list :-D
-
For my favorite animal, I have to say I have two, I love wolves and I love turtles too. Weird combination I know, but there's nothing wrong with having 2 faves at the same time, no?
