This article describes how an elderly man  was accused of getting an evil imp to  have sexual intercourse with his widowed granddaughter.  Although it may seen absurd to most Westerners, a deeply rooted and pervasive belief in the existence of creatures like the infamous Tokloshe has serious consequences  for the lives of ordinary citizens as demonstrated by the legal system's efforts to prosecute not only  individuals  who falsely accuse others of being witches but also those who have allegedly summoned evil spirits to torment others. This is really interesting since it attempts to reconcile modern beliefs with some extremely old spiritual beliefs. Previously, Zimbabwe had actually attempted to totally outlaw all forms of traditional spirituality but was eventually forced to rescind this   decision following  popular outrage.
