Born in 1560, she was said to be bathing in the blood of virgins to restore her beauty. Unfortunately we don't know for sure if this part is legend or not, but there is evidence she did harm and kill many people.
Among those who love vampire culture she's considered one of the first real-life vampires, as well as one of the first serial killer in history.
Sadistic for sure, she started her "career" by giving harsh punishments to peasants and servants, then the abuses grew stronger (during winter women were dragged outside the castle Elizabeth used to live in, then doused in water and left to freeze to death. A method we'll discover later adopted by nazis in concentration camps) and she ended butchering her victims.

So let me be your Charon for this part of our Monstrous forum. I'll try and show you the darkest sides of those we call "Human Monsters".

I've read about her before, worse than Dracula I think. Scary, and to think in the end she was only given a slap on the wrist for all she'd done! Locked away in her own castle until she died.

actually she was bricked up alone in a tiny room...with only a slit to slide food in, i can sort of understand her reasons, she was rich and beautiful, but growing older...seeing all the young pretty girls around, and the illusion that a drop of blood could make her young again?

if they found the blood of young virgin's could keep a person youthful looking, do you really think modern society would not try to find a way to use that technique to fight of those first few wrinkles developing, the techniques would be more humane, but i can see some old rich ladies rubbing the blood of the young on their faces to prevent the inevitable.

her techniques may have been brutal, cruel and for her status, really rather careless...but her reasonings can be understood, facing mortality is quite a blow to one's vanity, alone for long periods of time in the country with no social life or doting attention?

You'd be surprised where a lot of pharmaceutical "ingredients" originate... some birth control pills are made from the urine of pregnant horses; some hormone treatments are made from old ladies' wee sorry, the urine of post-menopausal women...

if she was still alive, i guess she wouldn't have become famous for her brutality, there'd have been no need to kill young girls and bathe in their blood.
