A medievel text penned by the Persian scholar Ferdowsi, the Shahnameh which when translated literally means ''Book Of Kings'', is  a treasure trove of myths and epics beloved of the ancient land of Persia. Considered to be an integral part of the Persian heritage, these stories cover in great detail  the various struggles of Persia's legendary kings against the forces of evil and chaos as represented by foes such as bloodthirsty tyrants and malovelant supernatural beings  A must read for anyone with a keen interest in having  a look at the legends and folklore of non-Western lands.
