  None really to my knowledege, I have to assume you are concentrating your research in the areas in and around the Hudson Bay?

It's my friend who is writing the book. He is studying the legends from the northern US states and Canada.

  It's good to know that someone knows where to research them at least, in answer to your question, no, no new sighting to my knowledge since about the mid 1800's, but then, there have been no starving communities for a very long time.
