Exorcist Florence Essex is no stranger to the odd, malevolent poltergeist. The 72-year-old expels unwelcome spirits from the netherworld on a daily basis and this week was called to combat a ghostly disturbance in a home at Westfield Avenue, Yeovil, bringing along her spiritual weapons to vapourise the unwelcome visitors.

Taking a pinch of salt, I watched Mrs Essex as she attempted to exorcise the spirits frightening a couple who wish to remain nameless.

The young mother described the weird sequence of events that led the family to call in the ghostbusting pensioner.

"One day I was standing in my living room and I suddenly felt this hard slap on the back of my head, and I looked round and no one was there. It was quite scary," she said.

"The lights come on of their own accord and sometimes I can hear creaking on the stairs.

"My friend has seen a little girl standing in the porch, and my rocking chair sometimes goes on its own.

"I sometimes hear my son talking to someone in my bedroom. When I come into the room no one is there. I ask him who it was and he tells me it was a little boy.

"I really believe in this sort of thing, there is no other explanation for what has happened.

"I don't mind them being here, I am quite fond of them, but I wish they wouldn't be aggressive, so I called Flo to see what she could do."

Mrs Essex said: "When I came into the house, I wanted to run upstairs. I felt that is where it was all happening.

"If they want to come, they will come and this place has a little boy spirit and man spirit.

"I am placing holy water around the place and carrying my cross to purify the house and make the spirits know that although they can still come to this place, they cannot create mischief.

"I do not call myself a medium but I suppose you could describe me in that way. I am a minister of the Nazarine Christian Spiritualist Church.

"I cannot get in contact with them, but they talk to me. These spirits tell me that they are not of any danger to these people."

isnt every catholic church suppposed to have an exocist now
i was attacked by a crack whore and a crazy dentist

From what I hear, they have priests that are trained to do exorcisms, but they have to work closely with doctors in case what they're dealing with is, a mental disease and not an evil spirit.

exorcisms are not common practice in the church anymore and if the chruch does get involved. Many tests will be preformed before they actually do anything, and that is only if they find evidence by their standards.
