Post by: lancslassie on October 11, 2007, 12:30:42 PM

Any of the Hannibal Lecter movies, "Phantasm" movies, "Wishmaster" movies; and though they are bloody and gory, my favorites are the "Hellraiser" movies.

Thanks Moloch, i tought i managed to dry up the internet of scary movies. Sorry about the pun - can't be helped!) *suck*  :-D

Scariest movie ever must be The Grudge 2004. It was originally in Japanese. I was totally freaked out - and it takes a LOT to freak me out ( i'm an ICU nurse  :-D)

When I saw Phantasm as a kid I thought it was really scarey.  Now, pretty much any modern slasher flick is extremely scarey.

I am a big fan of the Exorcist.  Also, the Exorcism of Emily Rose is a good one, as is The Mothman Prophecies.  Something about entities trying to get you that you have no power against, or at the very least, can't see.  I find those to be scary, although all horror movies are amazing in some form or another.

I thought 1408 was kind of trippy! The scarest movie though has always been and most likely will be for a while unless something tops it is Jaws then excorcist. I do have to say that Jaws never really scared me because I like animals and always wanted to work with some sort of environment thing or oceanic thing like a ranger so... But excorcist has always gotten to me. Dunno why but it gets me to thinking about that stuff... maybe thats why I am majoring in religion and minoring in geology...

The scariest movie that I think i've ever seen is probably the Barney movie. *<:)
No really though I think that the absolute scariest thing I've ever seen is the original Wicker Man.
I don't really know why I was so frightened by it, probably the twisted ending but it always struck me as pretty freaking scary.
Also a high contender would have to be the original Alfred Hitchcock Psycho.  That just screws with your head.

I don't think there's actually a scary movie out there. I do think that the Saw series get's marks for being freaking twisted and making me say "No WAY would I do that... that dude would be f**ked if it were up to me to save him!!" I have heard about a movie called Skeleton Key and am still waiting to see it. Hope it scares the be-geezus outta me!!

Ok I'm lazy and I didn't read all the posts but I doubt anyone said Jacob's Ladder, however, theres a stipulation, before the movie ends, you have to watch the deleted scenes cause theres some fu@#%d up s**t in there. I wouldn't say the movie is so much scary, mainly cause very little actually scares me (not bragging just numb) but it is definitely freaky as hell. So if you are interested, rent/ rip/ steal whatever Jacobs Ladder and make sure it has the deleted scenes and about 3/4 way through the movie watch the deleted scenes mainly the one with the thing trying to tear through the ceiling...damn didn't mean to give some of it away, and then finish the movie. If you finish it first, it won't work, and you will see why when it finishes...enough said

I just remembered this because it happened to be on TV not too long ago but I remember when I was about ten years old the movie Jumanji scared the hell out of me.  When the kid gets sucked down into the game ... whew still gives me the chills a little.  I remember after that movie I was afraid of flushing the toilet because I might be sucked down.

...Maybe that's what's wrong with me...

American Psycho. Christian Bale is absolute perfection. It's gory but manages to get under your skin & psyche. Exorcist is a classic & will always be. I really appreciate how that movie was done & always find it interesting that although based on a true story Bechley & the directors had to done it down instead of exxagerating it for the movie to earn an R. The Entity is another good one.

I don't know about the scariest movie ever, films don't really bother me, but the last one to stay in my head long after I saw it was "The Mist."  Not so much the film itself, which was an awesome take on Kings story, which I first read back in middle school.  More so the ending.  I won't spoil anything, but it'll leave you talking.  Very cold, very brutal.

The original Japanese version is called Ju-on.  I thought that was far scarier then the grudge.  well unless you consider Sarah Michelle Gellers acting ability.  That's scary

Agreed. Some can be creepy though. I saw the Happening the other night. For M. Knight Shamaylan it wasn't that bad (finally) Actually had a creepy feel to it some of the time. I'd watch it again.

I'm still waiting to be 'creeped' out. It just doesn't happen. There's one movie that's done it, but that's only because of my own... hmm... demons. It was too close to what happened to me and I .. well... totally blacked out while still walking and breathing.

So... If any movie-makers happen across this.. STOP BEING SUCH PUSSIES AND MAKE A CREEPY MOVIE DAMMIT!!!!! :gun:  :gun:  :gun:

I have several answers..

1408 because the woman jumping out the window, over and over...can you imagine reliving a suicide over and over? that would fit MY concept of hell if I was sure there was one...

the ring...even though I know the subliminals are what caused my discomfort, I felt my insides crawling up...

the incubus...just plain nightmarish

and the mist...because the end seems so much like something I would do.

The original Planet of the Apes has always managed to scare the begeepers out of me. Not the remake though.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre always had an impact on me too, maybe just because it was the first horror movie I ever saw. I think I was 11 or 12.

Argento and Fulci made some stonking films, but I never find them scary. For pure shivers down the spine Freaks by the late great Tod Browning, made in 1932. The taking down of Cleopatra and Hercules still scares me.

Talking of really old films, The Face at the Window is a bit "YIKES!" (Tod Slaughter, brilliant) and of course Lon Chaney's performance in the 1925 classic, Phantom of the Opera chills the bones. I can't think of a truly scary modern film though, however, I have yet to see Martyrs (as featured on the cover of Fangoria #281). But that's coming this weekend  :-D

There hasn't been one single scary movie ever!  The only thing that came even a tiny bit close was The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Demons hit too close to home with me.

they are people who dont die when you stab them repeatedly, they dont bleed to death, they eat human flesh and smell quite bad. how is that not scary. Also what celebrity do you think would make the freakiest lookin zombie

Freakiest looking celebrity zombie?? Can't be brittany spears.. she's already scary.  Drew Carey.

Horror movies don't scare me much... I laugh all the way through because me and my bros/friends keep finding ways to laugh at how stupid modern horror is. But the one movie that scared me the most as a child, the movie that made me afraid at night when I was little, the one that gave me nightmares:

Nightmare before Christmas.

Wait.... What? The Frankenstein girl scared me o_O It's not a horror movie per-say, but anything by Tim Burton can be considered horror, taken in context. Such as Johnny Depp with Oompa-Loompa hair. That's just plain freaky.

Hmmmm.  Guess I might as well chime in on this one.  Scariest movie ever......I'd have to say any home movie made by Moloch would apply here, what do you say Moloch, think you would like to share with the rest of the world a little taste of what is you?  Now why would I ask for such a thing?  Well I did call for a culling of the human species not to long ago, and at least this way I get some entertainment.

The Exorcist? That old movie with the possessed little girl? That's not scary!!  *<:) There are no scary movies. Only gory or thrillers.

I'm a fan of 13 Ghosts. I love it.

Any zombie movie freaks me out. I swear when the time comes I will be out there with my Zombie Survival Guide in hand and chopping all of their undead heads off. I hate zombies. HATE HATE HATE! Every one of those m***** f*****s will die...again.

Im not sure really, they dont really scare me all that much, the only movie that scared me was Jaws when i was a kid. i think around 12 i started loving black humor and just found it entertaining. Dracula was pretty good. The original Night of the Living Dead was amazing.

i think a lot of the stephen king movies are pretty good, my only issue is how far they dteract from the original work. The Shining is a great example of that. wonderful movie but very dissimilar from the book.

I have seen ghost ship. I think what makes those movies appealing is the fact that there is a background story to how they became a ghost and that gives them substance and in a way makes them more interesting then just a "I'm a scary thing because I died".

Scenario: You have two ghosts. One ghost you see has a straight jacket, laughs all crazy like, and haunts you but you know nothing about it. The other ghost you know (who looks like a run of the mill person) died because someone came and first of all sewed the lower portion of their bodies up so they couldn't get rid of their own waste. And then they were tied up with barbed wire and they had pieces of their skin torn off and were forced to eat them and had pin needles shoved under thier nails and then they were suspended by a hook or somthing above a loved one (say a small child) and were dropped repeatedly from that high point not killing themself really but causing them to crush their loved one to death. Add some other bad stuff there and once that person dies I don't care how they look I know they are going to be one scary vengeful thing of not good-ness, and I'll go stand with Mr. crazy straightjacket

Just an example of why movies like 13 ghosts and ghost ship are seemingly more entertaining then other movies.

Asmodai... can we be friends? Seriously, I really truly mean it literally. I refuse to simply let an opportunity to be friends with such an awesome person go by and not try for it.

As for the request for my home movies.. unfortunately, we don't own a camera of our own. Though if we did, I think my vile thoughts alone would probably choke the life from it. There is the time, when I was nineteen, when some friends of mine and I went to a party. We all got wasted drunk and passed out, my one friend did this after only ONE beer. Me, I drank myself into a near coma. During one of my bouts of waking, I heard him ask someone else in my car what happened to him the night before, because he didn't remember. I proceeded to explain to him that I had seen him giving a hand-job and blowjob to some kid with blue hair(really was one at that party too, and they'd both been talking, and even passed out sitting next to each other on the floor). I had him going to the point where he was crying and contemplating suicide, and then another friend took pity on him and told him I was just yanking his chain.

Another instance happened at a St. Patty's Day party a few years ago. A bunch of us (every one of us farked in the head to one degree or another, and each of us drunk too) were standing on the deck of our mutual friend's house, drinking and smoking, when the one dude who had opted to chill with the females comes out, looks at me, and says: "Hey Moloch(name changed to protect me in the event of a lawsuit from inhaling soda or something at this story), scare me dude. Now, I need to take a moment and let that settle into your minds, because anyone who knows me even a little bit can see just how bad an idea this was, and we all know that had this kid been sober he'd have never chanced such a thing.

So, I look at him, and ask him if he's for real, and he says: "Yeah, man. I got the hiccups real bad. I need you to scare me so they'll go away. That's the only thing that works."

I smile, take a drag off my Camel cigarette, hand off my beer to someone, walk up to him, and cop a good, long, intimate feel on his right man-boob. He immediately froze, with a look of terror on his face, as everyone else goes quiet. After several seconds, I stop, take a drag off my cig, exhale, then ask: "Hiccups gone?"

His response: "Uuuuhhh, yeah." At this point, his paralysis broke, and he made a beeline back inside as fast as his stubby little legs could carry him. He refused to be left alone in a room with me after that, though, to my knowledge, he's also never had the hiccups again.

There's just two examples. I think that will suffice.

Also, after 13 Ghosts came out, a friend at my then current job told me he'd seen the woman who played "The Princess" in that movie in an interview on TV, wondering out loud why her makeup job took them like eight hours, and other people, like the Juggernaut, took something like three hours....

DUH!!! If I had to do her makeup, I'd be busy trying my DAMNDEST to multitask... and hopefully failing utterly.

Do you have a problem with me there? Did i touch your private parts? The thread went into private rant between three members, and forum is a place for all, you could easily talk about your adoration on pm.

But then again, you would not have such number of posts if you wrote only about what topic said....

You be careful with your fingers too, they tend to write pretty silly things.

Does anyone remember "Trilogy of Terror" with Karen black?

The episode about the little wooden Zuni doll who came to life when his chain came off his waist,  then he chased her all around her apartment with a big kitchen knife

Now that was cool, she put him in the oven and what was left of him in smoke turn her into a Zuni lady  :-o

How about not judging someone else because they are interested in checking out something suggested by another person.  We all by now understand that you and Kadesh do not mix, but so what, that happens frequently here.  What I would like to dredge up is the fact that you were so insistent that we all be tolerant of others in the community and yet here you are committing the same atrocity that you have accused most of us of committing since your arrival here at Monstrous.  Have we affected your attitude so much in such a short period of time?  Or are you just that fickle in your personality?  I make no secret about who and what I am, never have and I never will.  You can always count on me to stand by my guns, you on the other hand seem to be doing a complete 180.

So what is it to be Banshee, The tolerant mother figure who is understanding and wants everyone to get along, or the vicious matron who will trounce you at a moments notice if you refuse to see things her way.  I do not care which way you choose to go as long as you are consistent in your choice.  You can not have your cake and eat it too after all.

P.S.  Night Gallery too was an awesome if somewhat lesser known series.

Oh, but i am tolerant, and i see its normal here to openly state when you dont like someone. Its my choice not to or vice versa. I can be both a tolerant mother figure and vicious matron, depends on my day and on a person that steps on my toe. Maybe its just those days of a month, fool moon or climate change, not really sure but hey does it really matter?

And it would be great if everyone could get along but news flash, they dont. As you probably know well yourself. Maybe its just alpha female issue. But then again, it could be the climate change

plus: its fun!  <^>

Kind of a hypocryte......Anyways

Lets all just play nice lol

You don't need to said "Ladies" Muerte... there's nothing wrong with me.

This movie isn't really scary.. but I'm sure it's supposed to be, and since I like it, I'm going to list it anyway... Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2. Just freaking funny stuff.

I'll admit to jumping at a few movies. More surprise than actually being scared. If anyone's ever seen An American Werewolf in Paris... the part where he's extending his lantern down this tunnel because something moved... I'm never ready for that damn wolf to show up. I jump every time! *<:)

I'm pretty sure I just said I wasn't scared. And, Banshee... grow up, m'kay? :-* You came in here and criticized everyone for their treatment of a certain member, and now you're doing what you first abhorred so much. Strife was right, you're a hypocrite.

Now I bet we are going to see a reply that looks something like

"See, it's not so nice to be treated badly, how do you like it?"

(Probably not now that I said it out loud , but hey....  Also I addressed the inconsistant personality, her reply is above, and if I know people, she will probably refer you to the above post)

And then a typical whiny worthless female would point out all the times in their lives that they've been treated badly. You dish it out; you take it. I'm not asking for anything less... just asking for a little maturity. However, since I didn't know I was in a contest...  I'm more than willing to quit. *<:)

Banshee:Quote from: Kadesh on October 04, 2009, 05:09:03 AMThere is cable in the house, but nothing I can really watch it on. I'll have to see about renting them or something..How about getting a LIFE?"

I'm sure Kadesh can fend for herself, but hey Banshee it sounds like your just jealous of Kad. Your verbal vomit holds no truth, only idiocy.
No one will respect you around here for opposing our strongest members,we only look down on you.

I suppose I used the word "people" a bit too freely. It's the Monsters that I was thinking of, Mo.

I don't find almost anything scary nowadays  <^>

These are the only ones, that have managed to scare me:

Session 9 (2001)

Black Christmas (1974, the original, not the crappy remake! :gun:)

Fallen (1998, great demon-flick w/ the demon Azazel)

Sauna (2008, Really weird/atmospheric/creepy)

Fire in The Sky (1993, I've only seen the abduction scene, and it's freaky as hell!)
