Did I see one?

Okay, the story I'm about to tell you is a memory from a few years ago.

About three years ago, I got up, starting preparing to go to school. I was eating breakfast and had this weird feeling like someone was watching me. So I turned around and behind me, across the room, was standing a dark figure with a vaguely human form. I only saw the upper body, because it was behind a counter. I noticed the shape of arms and a head, slightly longer than a human's, but it didn't seem to have a stable, physical body. I didn't see it at first. I looked over my shoulder, didn't see anything, and as I started turning around to go back to my breakfast, I noticed the figure standing there. I felt this chilling feeling, like it was staring at me intently. I felt like it was reaching out to me for some reason. A few seconds passed and I blinked and it was gone.

Until recently, I didn't even know Shadow People were more than creatures from the Terry Goodkind books, so I never thought much of it. After all, I believe in ghosts and supernatural entities, so I thought it might just be a chance sighting and it might be safer not to bother it, whatever it was.

Now that I've heard about actual Shadow People, I was wondering: could that strange figure have been one of them?

PS: I'm asking this, because I've been noticing more and more movements from the corner of my eye these past few months, movement in the shadows, and things like that. Sometimes also sudden, brief, lights like tiny flashes. Not enough to prevent sight in any way like a camera flash, more like a dim one. Sometimes, they look like they're moving rapidly, like shooting stars.

Seek not beauty in battle. Seek not beauty in death. Consider not your own life. If you wish to protect that which must be protected, then strike when your opponent's back is turned.
