I borrowed a book from the library called Supernatural Britian. In it were tales of ghost, lake monsters, UFOs, and other things. But one really caught my eye. I cannot remember the time of when the story took place but it was in the 19th or 20th century.

One day a farmer wishes to sell his horse, for he is poor and needs money. The horse is  milk white and strong, a fair horse to own and he thinks he can get a lot of money for it on the market. As he goes out down the road an old man comes from the woods. He asks "Do as you please. Go to Macclesfield, but you won't sell the horse and this evening you will sell the horse to me." The man refused and walked on leaving the old man behind... Once he gets to the market he is unable to sell the horse.
He goes back down the road that evening, woebegun and sad he could not get the money. He once more meets the old man "follow me" the old man said and the farmer obeyed, and went towards a rocky edge. The old man touched the rock with his staff and the rocks face turned into great iron doors the opened to them. They walked in and found hordes of gold and jewels, and a great army of men sleeping, inside were a couple horses all white like his with knights sleeping underneath them. There was also a man in gold armour also sleeping. The old man said this was King Arthur, his knights of the Round Table and an army they would lead when Britian was in its' greatest need. The old man also said that he was Merlyn who watched over them  while they slept. He needed the horse for they were one short and that he could take a handful of the gold and gems around him and be on his way.
The man took his fill and ran out, the doors on the rocky side dissapeared on his way out. Others say that they see the doors as they pass the edge. There is also a well on the rocky edge called the "Wizards Well". Engraved on the wall is a face of a beared man with a message bellow it.
"Drink of this and take thy fill for the water falls by the wizhards will."

This story is one that gives me great hope for the world. Like angels do with others, or friendly ETs. I love this story and its my favorite to show that Arthur might still Britian if we need him. But I have a problem with the story. According to legend Arthur is killed by Morderd (or whatever, I don't care about traitors.) and that he had died afterwords. But I guess its just magic.

reincarnation?

that's the funny thing about legends that have some form of prediction involved, that prediction is open to interpretation, and rarely ever mean exactly what they state...i tink it'd be neat to have king arthur rise...i started a story where he was a she...that could always be a possibility too.

we're half way there...i mean, the viking have their prediction about old god rising...they've risen, not the physical manifestation that it would suggest...but the belief in them is growing, maybe that's the meaning of king arthur and excalibur rising?

I thought that the Viking Gods all die after Ragnarok...

And according to legend Arthur gave away Excalibur to Morgan Le' Fay who gave the orginal to her son and made a copy for Arthur, I don't know. In my myth book there are so many differnt retellings I get confused just reading them.

Oh well, I'd like Arthur to come back. But were stuck in the world where most cult leaders says they're the next Christ, and if someone said they were King Arthur they may think he's a loon. Oh, well...

I got off a chat with someone claiming to be reincarnation of Morgan Le' Fay and she supplied me with details that she said was proof, but was really just information anyone 12 year old girl could look up... Most people and I thought she was a nut, but you never know. Anythings possible.

I've met King Arthur. He bought me a pint of cider.

but if a person looks beyond the established thoughts, in a sense the resurgance of pagan religions, could easily suggest old gods rising...maybe it's a prediction that when some, hero is needed, he'll be there?

most cultures have stories dealing with some sort of resurrecting hero to save the world.

i suppose that's why it'll always be conjecture?

...but Rrince William could make an interesting arthur.

He's also the only man in England and Wales allowed to walk the streets carrying a sword. The sword itself is the original Excalibur made for the film of the same name. It was on display at the place where it was made, and not for sale at any price. The manufacturers jokingly said they would only let "King Arthur" have it... So along came Arthur, whom they'd never heard of, and he produced his passport (which lists his occupation as King of the Britons) and said, "Yoink! I'll be taking that then!"
