For those who know me, you will know well that I am not one to pull pranks, exaggerate uselessly, or simply make things up. With that said, I have encountered a force in my domicile mere minutes ago with power greatly exceeding my own.
I detected its presence a few hours ago directly, with hints of its arrival for a few days. My roommates have been gone for almost 3 days now and another week to go, but while drifting off to sleep, clear footsteps were heard coming from outside my door. While coming up from my evening tea, I encountered it directly on the stairs, in the form of a humanoid, but translucent and of a smoke-grey colour. It physically pushed me into my room, where I instantly shut the door and put up a psychic shield around myself and an extra one around my room. I can sense it near, as I get an odd shiver across my right shoulder whenever I detect paranormal activity, and as I type the footsteps are resuming somewhere outside my door. Even as I sit here I can feel my barrier wearing thin, and I know it will not hold all night - especially if I want to get any sleep.
Resorting to desperate measures, I called upon 'the Beast within' to grant me extra energy and power if I needed it for any reason - but that would not be a desirable plan of action as I would require to bleed myself for the energy needed to do it.
I call for help immediately. Respond as quickly as possible - for quite frankly, as much as I would like to say I can hold my own in most encounters, this one has me on edge and worried.

Dear Alexander,
What you describe sounds like the entities that exorcist Michael Mullen would call demons.
He has seen many of them - sometimes they're only dark shadows running along the floor; other times they're larger and grayish, just as the one you saw. Twice in his life that I know of, satan has picked him up and thrown him into a wall.
When I decided to return to Christianity in a very active way after a four year foray into witchcraft, I was plagued with all kinds of strange 'happenings' and entities. Michael is the one who taught me about the power of Jesus's Blood. I hesitate to tell people about this who would use it as a 'spell'. The power in the words needs to be accompanied by a belief in God, and Jesus Christ His Son.
However, it may be that God can use these situations to show His power.
Instead of draining yourself of power, try getting a Bible and reading some of it aloud. Tell this entity that you are protected and covered by the holy blood of Jesus Christ who died to take on all of our sins.
I saw a creature I believe was satan and sang the old hymn "Power in the Blood". He literally melted and shrank into a green blob as he screamed.
One thing about my method - it won't cause any harm even if it doesn't work for you. I think you have to truly believe that Jesus is the Son of God and I don't know where you stand on that issue for sure. But I believe it, and maybe that will be enough to help you.

Similar to Morticia, I recommend using the Lord. You must first become a believer to call upon Him, and this may be the experience that God is using to bring you to Him. Vamp or no you can trust in Him to get you through.
What I and the other Christians can do for you is pray for your safe passage through this trial, which I have already done and will continue to do so.

There is also a mantra from Tibetan Buddhism that could help you, Alexander. It is the mantra of Buddha Mitrugpa who is a manifestation of Buddha Akshobhya who embodies the Buddha's defeating of the Maras (demons)...get all that?
It may help to visualize Buddha Akshobhya while chanting the mantra. Here is a picture (http://www.buddhanet.idv.tw/buddha_art/thangka/tk_buddha/Buddha_Akshobhya/Akshobhya06.jpg). The more you repeat the mantra, the greater the effect.

I was able to put myself to sleep, and although plagued by nightmares, woke up and found whatever it was gone.
I thank all of you for your support, but I can no longer call upon Yahweh or Jesus Christ, so unfortunately that advice would not work. To be safe, I just bled myself to give me enough energy to combat whatever it was for the night. We shall see if it appears again tonight or not. I am envious of those of you that can call upon the Christian god. I believe 'he' has turned a deaf ear to my pleas a very long time ago, which is why after 16 years of being a 'believer' I gave up the religion and turned to myself for guidance. I have no god to help me right now, just myself - so in situations like this it is hard for me to figure out what to do.

It is back, and it won't leave. It seems to prefer the second story of my house, the hallways specifically. It is close enough to provoke a constant shiver on my right shoulder than won't go away. I put up a shield around myself, my room, and the bottom of the stairs, effectively trapping it upstairs. Other than that, I do not know how to get rid of it - I have no idea why it is even messing with me in the first place. It is either extremely pissed off, powerful, or stupid.

The reason that the force is bugging you is because you are a mortal human/vamp or whatever. These demons like to attack us for that reason, you may not turn to the Lord, but maybe get some crucfixes and put them around the house, or ask a preist to bless the house. Blessing may anger it more though... :|
Does it follow you where you go? You could at least try to run somewhere.

Maybe look up some protective and banishing circles?
In times like these when people have no God, I recommend you form a spell to awaken your ancestors. It works well for me, I believe, and it may do the same. Try it Alex and see what results you get...
Note: Writing a spell is the same as a poem, just make sure you intentions are clear.

will they work if you have no faith to power them?
is it making any attempts to harm you, maybe it's just needing to convey something to you, or you have some other answer for it?
i've heard oodles of people recommend banishing rituals.

as i don't know you very well, is it possable to stretch your barrier to push it out of your home, or possably reverse it and trap it in something smaal so you can maintain it and keep it traped untill you can come up with a better solution?
