Title: Phantasm / 1979
Post by: markus on November 03, 2005, 05:13:11 PM
Phantasm does not make a lot of sense and the story is confusing and appears to be made up as it went along  but that's kind of the point.

Phantasm is a classic B Flick

This is a blend of sci-fi, horror and fantasy that  didn't make a whole lot of sense.

The flying balls... the dwarves.... the yellow blood

Good ole B Flicks...Gotta love em

Markus,

I don't know who you are but you and Big P have great taste in movies!  That flick (and its sequels), while making no sense what so ever are great!
I love the four barrel shot gun that they make.

As Markus said, even though Phantasm kind of made things up as they went along it was a very enjoyable movie.
I loved the part where they heroes learn that the aliens from another dimension have been stealing dead bodies and shrinking them down in size to make them their slaves and the character Reggie says quite seriously "Yeah, that makes sense".  It can't get much better than that.

You know I saw Phantasm 2 and only semi-liked it.  I believe there was a Phantasm 3 but I never actually saw it.  Was it any good?

Yeah, i love the Phantasm films, though like most horror movies, or movies in general, the more sequels they made the worse the plotline got.. But, parts I and II are excellent films (for B-movies), and some of the most inventive horror cinema ever made.. Tall Man is a classic villain worthy of rememberence with the likes of Pinhead and Freddy Kruger.. :-o

Guy sure had some BALLS, that's for sure.. Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk..

this is a movie that even creeps me out, those magnificent balls, and the little robed guys.  *shivers*

horror just isn't what it was, maybe i'm older or just have better visions in my mind...but i was talking about it to an old friend who stopped by last night...did all the good horror get used up?

when do you think they'll remake phantasm?

you don't see scenes like a corncob through the ear...anymore, but i suppose few could equal a stephen king horror, except maybe clive barker...peter straub needs to do something.  :)

Actually, this is not a horror movie at all, Nacho Libre has a great corncob in the eye scene....the whole movie was just funny and ridiculous all together.

I do remember watching the original Phantasm on the CBS Late Movie on a friday night.

A very scarey film to watch late at night when it's dark.

Masters of Horror did some good things this past season, including a story which was too graphic to even air on pay cable TV.
