Pastafarianism is a fake religion created by an atheist to satirize creationism, as he was being treated unfairly because he was an atheist.  I think his main things were that the teacher were talking about creationism, the Christians were trying to convert him, and the other students were able to get away with things over religion.
I think the original idea was creative and interesting, and I understand his reasonings, but the problem is that many "pastafarians" don't understand this, they just see it as a way to make fun of other religions and say something other than "atheist" when asked.  It all goes back to the fact of atheism being equatable to a religion, this is a somewhat crude way to make fun of and belittle other religions, and, while I support actually discussing of religious views and asserting the fact that you hold a belief, I have to be against the idea of belittling other religions.
