The way I know it is that a soul is living.
A spirit comes from another plane.

If anyone has better please say.

I'd say a soul is a kind of spirit.

I have to agree with terror... I believe that a soul and a spirit are seperate entities. A soul is belongs to a living person/animal. A spirit is the remains of the soul of a deceased person/animal. Yes.. I am saying that animals have souls/spirits too. And you can bite me if you disagree. :-)

OMG.... Hell froze over, didn't it??

*Poke, poke, poke.* Nope, still nice & toasty as it waits for me. :banplea:

So can a spirit come from any thing/anywhere? Like spirits of a forest, or spirits from another realm? & what, exactly, is there relationship to souls?

I've just stated my belief on their relationships to souls. As well as stated my belief on where they can come from. Redundancy is ... redundant.

There's no.. and not going to be.. any concrete proof on what they are and where they come from. I'll ask next time I see one, but as it's usually my own.. or the ghost that wants to kill me... I don't think I'll get much information.

The Soul is the moral nature of an individual------------------ And the Spirit is the personification of that nature?

Of course you never hear of anybody ever selling their spirit, only their soul. Eyes are windows to the Soul, so the spirit is the emotional and will part. The soul is your core. It makes sense to me.

Of course the spirit is stronger when things work more on automatic, like nature or the planet. It is there to keep things moving as they should, but has no sense of morality to its actions, for it just is, to be. Not to be moral or compassionate. Like the weather is perfectly amoral, destroying and being pleasant at random. With animals its a little different. I do believe they have souls simply because they react and do become afraid, and if you look into their eyes long enough you can know what they are about to do before they do it.  You can only know the weather just before it happens, because not even the weatherman is right all the time.

So to me the soul is the seat of the mind, the spirit is what drives us and enforces our will. And the spirit can be crushed, but the soul is forever.
